  1. @Matt BTW, Matt's blog post is interesting. There were some Cruisers who felt like this person: "Will only even consider a cruise if masks are mandatory. Not a chance I am getting on a ship with thousands of high risk strangers from all over for a week without them." If that is the case would they then want gloves to be required too? So how would they be able to enjoy: Pools, Dining, Drinking, Snacking (popcorn in the theater, ice cream on decks), Smoking (not me)? And I am sure you can think of more. Would all these things have to be done in your cabin in that case?
  2. @Cile Very sorry to hear this news. This virus is NO joke. Hopefully people realize this. Over this Memorial Day weekend there were may reports of careless socializing. In this environment I just can't understand how people can be so selfish. I can only hope if they end up infected that they do NOT infect anyone else. AND that people take better care of themselves and others. I do hope your girlfriend's cousins get well soon!
  3. @Ogilthorpe Yeah, having masks required at bars for me would be more trouble than what it's worth. We spend most of our time on cruises socializing with friends at bars and the Diamond Club. So, I reserve the right to change me answer above to: A no B maybe C yes
  4. From Matt's blog post from today: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2020/05/26/would-you-cruise-if-wearing-mask-mandatory For me: A: no B: yes B: yes
  5. Agree !!! Just maybe this data is telling us that the new normal will be a safer place to live! Just maybe working, eating, & drinking from home (and watching our big screen TVs) not only reduces the covid-19 spread, but going forward will have an impact on reducing the global death rate. I guess, something to hope for...
  6. My wife feels the same and I can see her point. We aren't scheduled to cruise until NOV 1st. She would wear a mask on the airplane to get to our cruise port, but having to wear a mask on the ship is a NO GO for her. Does anyone have any definitive information of what the new on-board rules will be? Especially WRT masks? Thanks...
  7. Agree with this thinking -- or at least hoping cruising won't get strung out this long. I have a Nov 1st cruise that I never in the least have been worried about it not sailing. But now...
  8. This is sad. Sorry to all of you with pre-July 31st cruises. Hopefully this new date will stick this time.
  9. I wonder if the notes will be broken down into small sizes and if they will be available to the public. I would be interested if it were possible...
  10. Misleading title - not the 2020 season, but rather the 2020 summer season...
  11. @USFFrank Thanks! @bobroo I agree that the name is a bit suspect, but Lift and Shift may be a policy that we actually end up using for our Nov 1st cruise. ?
  12. Same here. Next big decision - we have a fully paid for Nov 1st cruise. Used our points from our BOA RCL Credit Card. Not sure what to do now. We need to fly to get there too. Everything is up in the air so to speak. When using those CC points they make you sign your life away stating over and over again that they are completely non-refundable. I can't help but think we may be on a boat up a river, but without a paddle...
  13. This seems real and I haven't seen it posted on RCB yet... https://www.marketwatch.com/story/royal-caribbean-extends-cancellation-policy-on-cruises-out-to-april-2022-2020-05-06
  14. +1 I feel exactly the same - you speak for me!
  15. I agree !!! I find this very sad. We have sailed on Breakaway and Dawn with no complaints. I can't say that about RCL.
  16. A real nice benefit to us on the Anthem, since it was the last cruise before the shutdown, was that the specialty restaurants were not crowded at all for lunch. And as always, less congested than My Time dining during the evenings. So, this helps going forward into the world of the new normal to feel a bit safer. But, I must say - as much as we loved everything about the UDP, we feel that the 3N-DP is better for us. The UDP is just way to much food and we just can't say no. We went every time it was open except for one night where we dined at the Solarium Bistro. We like going to SB for dinner at least once per cruise. Also Ceil and our friends like trying all of the restaurants on board, and I can't help but recalculating the UDP cost per usage to see if I am getting my moneys worth.
  17. I noticed that the UDP price on our Harmony Nov 1st cruise was down to $179, which is the best I have seen on Harmony. We did do better on our March Anthem cruise though...
  18. And, something else I learned from @WAAAYTOOO is that you can book two restaurants in one night. On Anthem we booked our meal at Chops early and our dessert at Wonderland later.
  19. That's what I was wondering. When will round-trip cruises out of the US allow passengers to disembark without the need for quarantine. That could make all the difference for the US cruise industry.
  20. @Ditchdoc Wow! You are right !!! https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/22806-14-million-for-royal-caribbean-ceo-fain.html
  21. The report last night was that this money has already run out! Very scary times for so many people...
  22. I have loved cruising since 1996. But all of the recent narratives have got me singing the blues too. I am seriously re-thinking my Nov 1st cruise with friends who have less love for the industry than I do. Very trying times for sure. I gotta say the positive comments above are nice to read!
