  1. @smokeybandit Here you go! Chops breakfast menu for suite guests on the Mariner of the Seas last week.
  2. We are platinum with Disney cruise, but needed a break with only four Disney ships. Not to mention daughter getting older so my family were sailing for me. I experienced tears if joy every time I laid eyes on a DCL ship. It seems Royal is working overtime to try and takeover the DCL customer after the pause and while initially (before the pause) the sailings were on par with DCL in my opinion @RCLwhyis that they are trying to hard and falling way short. While the food to me personally is hit or miss on each ship and so subjective, I agree I have experienced the shift you speak of. They ramped capacity to quickly and the crew are suffering. They are beyond tired and wearing the masks breathing in hardly any fresh air all day must be taking a toll on them. The activities are suffering. The long lines are everywhere for everything. Entertainment is truly lacking for sure. Less offerings and simply most just going through the motions. The limited showings of favorites and the non existent additional acts, painful. Felt like they placed this on the back burner. The nickel and diming has always been in place vs Disney but it's now quarters and 50 cent pieces. In March the Oasis ship model was 19.99 in June Mariners was 42.99 yikes. Just a price hike example. The kids in adult spaces lately has been crazy. There is no true adult space; our last sailing they were everywhere including bars and lounges running around like it was a playground. This is clearly though squarely on parents who pay no mind to the rules for their "angels" Brings me back to the crew being exhausted, either they are told to look the other way or just don't want the hassle. Either way before the pause we really felt Royal had a better product in comparison, lately and sadly now not so much. After our August FCC sailing we are taking a break, even canceled our November sailing and will be sailing the DCL Wish next most likely. I think Royal needs a minute to figure out and commit to the type of product they are offering at the price point they have settled on and then concentrate on truely getting back to their return to service. I'm sorry but I feel they are going through the motions minimally. We are adding more land vacations to the mix for now also, jumping through crazy hoops for a sailing I just shrug my shoulders at as meh impacts my joy. While I'm so sad you are having a meh sailing, I am sending positive thoughts your way hoping it gets better for you for sure.
  3. @Suite Snob do they like the $2.00 bills? I just exchanged at my bank for them to bring on my Harmony sailing. I thought it would be a fun thing to engage in especially lately when all the sailings are at capacity and the lounges are packed. I am hoping the crew like them!
  4. On the Allure 28 May sailing we wanted to do this, we asked politely and they said no! I said please don't misunderstand I don't wish to eat I just want to see where my table is, still a BIG NO. They went so far as to close all the entry doors. First time I've experienced that.
  5. Front page of this site. The home page. Fill out the form on the right for a free quote an amazing MEI TA will reach out!
  6. I always print my purchases and bring a copy in my suit case....just in case. Once I was supposed to have the room decorated, a bon voyage package and when we entered the cabin, nothing. Night 2 nothing I went down to guest services and showed them my printout and they offered to do it then or refund the purchase. By that time I just opted for the refund. Much easier with proof of my purchase in hand. It never hurts 9.5 out of 10 they have everything. Enjoy!
  7. Oh no, I'm so sorry. While I loved that itinerary it took some fancy footwork to avoid the crowds, and there were a lot of ailing people by that last sea day. I still love when they ask on the after sailing questionnaire if we felt they cared about our health. Lol, No!
  8. You can stop by your muster station and get that out of the way. Then the pools are nice and empty at that time. We finish muster and people watch until our lunch reservation.
  9. We were just there. The hostess turned away men who didn't have on shirts and shoes are a must! She will not let you in without some type of foot covering. Don't dine on the outer perimeters by the plants or you will have many, many uninvited flying insect friends trying to share your dish. Hint, they adore the lobster! Enjoy, Can't wait to return
  10. I'm a big fan of the Coastal Kitchen venue. We have had at least once an inattentive server. We will then try another, if he/she is a good fit we request them for the rest of the sailing. Here are sample entree menus for my 31 July 2022 sailing on the Harmony. The one time I was blessed to sail STAR class I did the specialties, while they were lovely I missed the huge windows, I know weird but so subjective. Glad I tried the specialties, now I know what all the hype is about. On the Mariner last week no complaints about MDR but I missed #CK. If not for the noise level alone.
  11. @SnickerTailGo to the Home page here, fill out the information and an agent will contact you in a very timely fashion. (The get a free quote area)
  12. @ticoman yes something is amiss. This is unacceptable especially with the little ones. I figured it had to do with ships capacity, really unacceptable. Send an email right now to [email protected] and [email protected] Mark as urgent and state your case simply and plainly. I wrote to these addresses and had a turn around response in 24hours. I also agree reach out on social media as well. Please let us know how it goes. I wish we could do more. Positive thoughts to you.
  13. @ticoman we would love to help. What ship and cabin numbers? Sometimes the capacities are off are you sure it's not 4 persons cabins? It seems impossible they put 7 names in cabins that won't allow for that number. Sometimes when I price check if ship is close to capacity it will only allow 2 people per cabin as an example even though it can handle more.
  14. Our last sailing (last week) they were priced at 249.00 We purchased them during last year's Thanksgiving sale, but I would pay the 160.00 in a heartbeat if there are going to be 2 ships there while visiting. It was glorious and never seemed over crowded. The spacing of the beach chairs and the gigantic umbrellas, the sand was soft a free from rocks/pebbles. The pool was nice also early in the day and then after 1400 when the area started to empty out.
  15. My 16 year old has earned the right to go to the teen club, gym, arcade because we have a standing rule just text us and let us know, curfew is 2200-2300 depending on if we are there with other friends and of course the itinerary the next morning. Well, we learned the hard way have a plan in place for the internet to go down. 18 cruises and she is super responsible, never once had we had a problem....until we did. We were getting ready to turn in for the night last week on the Mariner and she left the cabin to go on her nightly run, we checked no messages. Okay, we get dressed and start looking all over the ship, no where & zero texts & my phone tracker says she is off line. NOT NORMAL, hubby still looking I go to security, who was amazing and I can't say enough about. With my background they did everything right. The internet was down, but we couldn't tell with our phones. Long story short ship wide announcement and she comes bouncing up to the guest services desk, where in the world were you and why didn't you let us know. It was windy outside so she was walking the deck hallways and doing the stairs for her cardio, she pulls out her phone and sure enough the messages she sent us were there, let's just say I lost a few years of my life that hour. Security was great & they explained this sometimes happens. So just note, just because you buy the internet package sometimes it doesn't work. Have a system in place with feedback, if no feedback meet back at XYZ face to face to confirm plans, places etc. 18 sailings first time, probably never happen again but I wanted to share our experience.
  16. As an aside while this sailing again was not as enjoyable as I had hoped, I did follow up and send an email to Royal regarding Dudley & the energy he put forth trying to mitigate the ship's so many short comings. I didn't harp on those though. The email was focused on Dudley the man who represented the company in a stellar way, I wanted to celebrate his efforts and let the higher ups know what a gem they had in that man. I hope my sincere communication is met with a smile and just maybe some type of positive recognition for him. I just received an email back stating they received my email so I am excited that I could shine a good light on/for/with this very weird experience. They said they were in receipt of my email and appreciated it. Woo-hoo!
  17. @Floski I sincerely mean this, I think since it was the cruise directors last sailing before vacation & a five night that contributed to things. Also the capacity being ramped up so fast, was felt in the lack of activities. I believe in my heart by your sailing the Mariner will get her groove back! Your itinerary is wonderful, I just did something similar on the Allure, it's glorious. This 5 night itinerary was fantastic also. How about the Panoramic Ocean views cabins on 12 instead of your prom inside? It's so quiet on the sides of the ship as long as you choose one not directly under the dunes. That might be a great financially agreeable meet in the middle kind of cabin. The floor to ceiling views just stunning! The better wi-fi will hopefully be better by then for sure, thanks so much for your feedback.
  18. Honestly Pinnacle status is no joke. Not only should they be afforded the drinks above they should be allowed to dine at the specialty restaurants as they do Coastal Kitchen. That would be a very nice gesture on Royals part. The upcharge everyone else already pays should well enough cover them. This could also help alleviate the capacity issues in CK. I'm not a pin only diamond, but I scratch my head when they take up every table in CK and I have to struggle to secure a reservation at my preferred time. Showing more love to pins helps the suite amenities as well.
  19. Yes, sailed Mariner this past week. The people in front of us at check in didn't have a copy of their test & could not pull it up electronically. They were sent to the side until they could retrieve it. I always print mine and they (all 3 of us) were checked closely to include the date the test was administered. I bring copies of everything, every time. Check closely that it is all correct before even leaving for the cruise port.
  20. Want to see so bad: We will rock you! Least favorite CATS, Grease Favorite to date: Mama Mia I enjoy Abba music
  21. Just stepped off the Mariner TODAY, the duck was bye bye. Instead it was the Coq Au Vin. No lobster night as expected on this 5 night sailing. My crew did have it at the Beach Club with the insects & you could still order it (lobster) for 29.95 in the MDR. I noticed as with my past Allure sailing there were a great deal of substitutions.
  22. Especially the older ships are NOT fluffy friendly. I understand as I was just on the Mariner & have two black & blue marks on my generous hips from the ice show, I was almost in tears I am sad to say. The Quantum & Oasis seem to be a bit wider. See my blog A slice of Mariner there is a pic of me so you can see my size, I was not comfortable. They do place some chairs at the tops of the venue with no rails but I don't sit there as I believe they are there for companions of wheel chair bound people. I want to be honest, while I'm embarrassed to report this I want to help, so stick with the newer ships for more comfort.
  23. Surprise you must vacate your stateroom by 0800, Dudley saves the day. We met him at Schooner Bar which was packed with all cabin types. He told everyone to remain seated except suites and pins. Son of a gun if he didn't wisk us off the ship in minutes. I'll leave with some nice memories and am glad we did it but please beware the Mariner was a shock. Maybe include internet? Maybe allow more then one towel per person and maybe don't make me hunt down a garbage can because you say no. Probably our worst Royal sailing to date as far as ship, but Dudley and that itinerary just wonderful! Parked next to the Mouse this morning.
  24. Okay, the crew went to laser tag, offered once today from 1600 to 2100. They went there and I stayed to pack. Luggage is now outside the door. This journey has come to an end. What? My phone is ringing, it's Dudley checking on us. The suites lounge was packed tonight and lots of coughing and sugared up kids, running the room. We stayed for just a few minutes but had to wave goodbye as he was busting his butt for the room. He called to remind us he could walk us off tomorrow, so very sweet but we told him our plans to go it alone. Dudley is genie worthy and I'm writing to Royal to let them know. Thanks so much for following, when I get home with good internet I'll try to add more pics, bye bye for now.
  25. Perfect day, perfect day! To combat the Symphony joining us on the Island I booked the Beach Club, wowza! We skipped breakfast and debarked as soon as allowed, we were on the beach set up and in the pool and running back and forth like kids for at least an hour. I never felt there were to many people, it was a great choice. A beautiful sunny day, and believe it or not you guessed it, chair hogs. The in the pool resin type chairs were littered with shirts and water proof bags no bodies though. Gees. No kooth! The place was fairly empty until the Symphony arrived. Lunch was a lobster fest for my crew, I had the salad and grouper. The food was elevated and tasty, what was not good were our lunch companions, they surround the outdoor dining area with hibiscus in planters, flying insects love these. You know what else they love? Lobster and grouper! The insects were swarming tables, it was kind of disgusting and gross. Our server said you can't get away from them especially this time of year, ewwww. We asked for extra napkins and slightly covered our food while eating. Not that enjoyable due to that little fact. The cabanas beach and overwater were all booked, I was surprised how many people pile in and party hard. The crazy thing was though most of the people all over the beach including the cabanas left early, maybe to hot? If it was me at those prices you'd have to pry my butt out if there with a shoe horn. So it's even less people early and later in the day. Just perfect! Ugh as I'm typing this the golf balls are going crazy overhead tonight!
