  2. I was surprised in the past to find that our voices do get heard rather easily by our elected officials. I messaged a senator on a subject years back and he directly answered me a few days after the canned automated response came back. I developed a rapport with a congressman under similar circumstances. I'm nobody special. Justa constituent. I just sent a detailed message to Marco Rubio...   4. They "announced " that last October... They are saying (I Think) No meetings have taken place so nothing has changed. AT THIS TIME
  5. My read on what transpired>>>> Mind you I have seen the CLIA statement but not an official CDC rep for the response. Just what was reported. The statement was meant to say the Nov date is STILL in effect and no decisions regarding the recent request by Miami Dade and todays CLIA have been made YET and that the order AT THIS TIME still stands... I see CNN, CNBC and NYT involved with the reporting and if you adhere to what they sell as "press" I have an oceanfront condo in Kansas you need to buy...
  6. I signed up for a new date offered to me and zero acknowledgement or anything from RCL. No email nothing. Just showing canceled. No offer of refund or fcc jus other dates. I did my part and they have done nothing...
  7. Well its a week later. My planning page still shows it as "cancelled" . No email, no confirmation, no nothing about the rebooking I tried to make. I have never experienced indifference from telephone reps that I have dealt with on this. Only a few days til the time limit is up and everything defaults to dates that are no good for me... Please I need suggestions of what I can do?
  8. I'm an outside possibility for it... Pretty pricey from what I am hearing but I get impulsive... No shots yet but turning up the heat on getting that done...
  9. Nassau is a pretty busy port for fuel and provisions that fan out from there around the islands. It would be easy for RCL to enlist a coastal freighter to run stocks from states right to them in Nassau.
  10. We need to take into consideration that this is the first time that CDC has really had "Power" . Quite possible there is "ego" coming into play or a "power trip" being tossed our way. Without getting political, I see it in a few elected officials to the point of megalomania or sadism. Some actually reveling in their new found power and not caring who they hurt when they arbitrarily toss a regulation "Cause they can". There is a saying in sales "Persistence will outweigh Resistance". We have an edge that we have been persistent for a year now against what seems to be unfair, biased and even draconian regulation. No, nothing is easy in swaying them, so we need to use tact and gentle pressure to prevail. We need to continue to lightly push to find exactly what it is they want at this juncture. We are not in position to make demands, but negotiation of common sense ideas using their own words as a tool needs to be in play (" Vaccinated people can gather with no masks"). First we must get their attention as it seems that we as the cruising world is largely ignored by them. With these limited launches taking place that may help facilitate that along with a limited squeaky wheel approach. As to the Mayor sending that communication to them. I don't think its futile as one might think. Both CDC and her are servants of the people. Yes fed trumps local in a lot of situations but ultimately both are responsible for the well being. Being fed does not mean immovable. If their actions are having negative impact, be it through not fully thought out regulation, or ignoring the problem, those actions need to be lifted and or reversed. This is achieved by reminding them that their obligations are first and foremost to ALL people. (See- "Squeaky wheel" for delivery) By all means, be nice, but a little venom in between syllables might be in order. Now back to the original topic of re-crewing... RCL has a few facilities scattered around that can be used for Quarantine, training, etc. I am a big game fishing tournament boat captain by trade. There are copies of my resume' floating through the wet world and now and then these employment sites see "marine industry ties" on some kind of program and I get some really unrelated job offers that I'm not qualified for. Several offers or at least applying have come from cruise lines including RCL... They have been happening since September and recently were stepped way up. They have been seeking hard at filling cruise director spots as one... Another is a manager for these land based housing/ training facilities. I believe I remember the Miami Dade one having 450 rooms. I have seen opening for the same type position in a few Caribbean ports... Again it seemed these want ads started flowing in September and have increased in frequency since. I can't say for sure but that might point out they have a head start on this...
  11. I'm on about 20 different lists in two states... CVS is slap jammed up, as is Publix , as is...... So far I did get acknowledgements that I am registered but no sign of appointment date yet. I have a place I can go next week to get first dose but then I will be in a different state soon and have to find the second somewhere there.... Palm Beach County my southern home seems to have some spat going with the governor and its hurting the citizens as they keep refusing his help????? Fiancee in Jersey , my northern home, having zero luck for herself or her kids as well.
  12. Making me crazy. My sailing is all the way gone. Signed up for earlier one (Official Option). Telephone staff would not change. instead had to copy and paste some link to a form only we as passengers could fill out. No receipt, no confirmations of any kind. No way to track or update or know status. No cabin assignment even though I paid a ton extra to hand pick. No verification of OBC(s)... Just a big blank that does not sit well with me... As it is, the new date means we have to leave one kid home . This booking was a lift ad shift from a much nicer ship and Itinerary to begin with. I'd cancel all together but we got such good pricing that we couldn't book anything else similar for anything close to what we did pay.
  13. Couple calls in to them and they "can't" produce any confirmation, receipt, nothing still? When this happened (no receipts) last year on two cancelled cruises it complicated things really badly. One trip that cancelled in March I immediately requested refund. In late may They told me that I didn't request til Mid May??? BS!!!!! Without proof it was tough to set it right. They also play ugly games with a second cancellation saying no payment had been made. I had to get hard copies of bank records to back that up and our other conversations I had to screen shoot social media messages with dates. I have visions of them not receipting then saying I didn't "request" by expiration date. Posting running commentary here and elsewhere is a little cushion if they try to play games again.
  14. Thats who I called (now 3 times) and they said they couldn't send one. I don't want them to say "you never filled in the form" and shove me on the date they planned to which is no good for me. They sent me no confirmation emails on a cancelled cruise a few months ago and it was a nightmare.

  16. I hope you're right... I'm going to need to do it after this Mariner mix up... The agent on the phone today made it sound like an act of congress to get done and that for a cruise next year needed to do it this week... ??????
  17. I decided to go with the flow with Mariners cancellations and do a shift to an earlier date. It meant leaving one of our kids at home and that will be taken care of with yet another booking that he can bring a friend along. Now here's is where it gets uncomfortable for me. When I called the phone rep couldn't do anything. He referred me back to the cancellation email and some copy and paste address I had too put in my browser. I had to fill out all the forms using the old reservation numbers and specifics about which option I was taking. In every other cancellation or lift and shift I have ever done with them they did that for me. Seemed odd that we have to do all that now. No receipt email came back and they said it can be days. In the past I have had something hard in writing right back. No confirmation of anything: No OBC confirm? No new cabin numbers? No mention of refund as this was less expensive than one they cancelled? No mention of other refund as I was not afforded ability to pick cabin which I paid extra for. Nothing? They said it could take several days or weeks. That brings up memories of 90+ days on my 45 day refunds... I have always had emailed confirmations while still on the phone. Is this new? I know I havn't had it before? Something to be nervous about? Just relax? I have always been one to enjoy "Knowing"... For them its no big deal changing dates. For us it can be complicated. In my case it involves booking yet another cruise to keep the kids even. I don't mind that Makes it fair for the kids, makes RCCL a little jingle, makes it easier on every one, then to just get brushed off ? Anyone else?
  18. Rather than be a pain in their rump I did the following: I accepted their offer of another date. It accommodates one of our teens vacations but not the other. We decided to let her bring a friend for this new date. For her brother I booked another short Cruise where he can bring a friend. Wont be a 5 night balcony. More like 4 night inside but better than nothing. He doesn't care as he gets his buddy to join... Thats all good. Started new thread with some concerns questions...
  19. Not being insensitive. I have lost to the virus itself. I lost one to complications from the intubation as well. I also knew many that it was barely as much as a cold. Then, I have also lost to the vaccine. A healthy doctor friend passing away being one and my Fiance's brother being paralyzed for a few days made it clear that its not a walk in the park either. An "evil" so to speak. It was forced upon us by a man made problem. Granted its a potential solution to a bad problem but it would be a lot nicer if it was never needed and the remote possibility of bad side effects wasn't there.
  20. Well, I don't drink but agree some sedation would be of some help. Possible I back the kids out of this one then book a good one for fiance and myself. For the kids do a quickie with each one separate (vacations don't match up)and even let them bring a friend...
  21. Any tricks on getting RCCL to up their OBC amounts... I'm seeing respectable numbers for you guys. They just cancelled me for a trip a year away and offered me $50 OBC for the headaches for 2 balconies... You guys are seeing way better numbers than that...
