  1. BE PREPARED TO WAIT AWHILE TO GET YOUR REFUND! I had the worst customer service experience with Air 2 Sea. It's sounds like an exaggeration and an over used expression, but it truly was. We booked airfare for a family of four adults in December, and on January 15 cancelled the airfare for both cabins. The customer service reps were really nice, pleasant and said that would not be a problem. They informed us it would take 5-10 business days to get a refund. After that time had passed and no refund, I called and they said that they did not automatically credit my credit card and I would have to request this to be done (what???). OK, whatever... they could process the credit, but it may not show up on my credit statement for 1-2 billing cycles. This was due to the credit card's billing cycle not them. So on March 18 (2 months later) I received my the credit BUT for only 1 of the 2 cabins (2 airfares). When I called them again, they said my wife had to request the refund since her name was on the cabin. She would have to call them back and request the credit personally. BTW: Each call you're on hold for an hour or many times they just tell you to call back due to their call volume. Each time I've called, I've been promised dates of when I will have the refund and each time they come up with a different excuse. Being totally fed up and given another "10-20 days" before I get the refund, I refused to hang up and needed a supervisor. After another 30 minutes on hold, I spoke to "Jorge" who stated he was a supervisor and he apologized that it shouldn't have taken this long and there was a miscommunication on their end. He promised I would get the refund by the end of the week. Happy Days! On May 13, I received my $960 refund and $100 OBC. Almost 6 months later and untold hours and phone calls, I finally got my refund.
  2. That's very reassuring to hear. Now I just hope the cruise and the excursions will happen. I can't even plan more than month ahead now.
  3. Thank you for the details on how it was for you out of San Juan. I would expect it to be similar regardless of the port. I've never done a post-cruise excursion and was a bit concerned about the time it would take to claim the luggage and clear all the checkpoint en route to the bus.
  4. We are taking a post-cruise excursion in Vancouver on the Serenade of the Seas in June 2022. Since we are staying overnight in Vancouver to fly out the next day, we decided to take a post-cruise excursion. Specifically, the Sea to Sky Experience and Shannon Falls with Airport Transfer excursion. We chose this excursion because it was on the list of places we wanted to see and since we are staying at the Fairmont Airport Hotel it is where we will be dropped off. We also chose this hotel because we have a morning US flight and the wanted convenience of being right their to catch our flight. I've searched around but couldn't find the answer to my question. If we leave our bags out the night before the end of the cruise, what happens to our bags? Do we claim them then lug them over to the excursion bus? Or do they load them on the tour bus? The tour leaves at 8:30 and ends at the airport. Thank you all for your great advice!
  5. Another benefit i found is I can book a flight and lock it in without having to pay for it until the final payment date. This allows me to price shop and at least have a low fare locked it. I found it easier to search the flights first the call Air2Sea to see if they are available. They don't offer all flights but they're very helpful in finding out for you. I think the only offer refundable flights. My flight from Boston to Vancouver has gone up $400 in the last two weeks and that's for a June sailing.
  6. Good news! I finally spoke to a TA that knew what she was doing and agreed that I should get my OBC. It took over an hour on hold with the TA who had to call Royal Caribbean but the $300 was posted. Thank you for everyone who posted that the OBC should have carried over and to persist in getting it. I do miss the days when I could drive and talk to a live travel agent. Everything is online or by phone. I miss placing a face to an agent. Thank you all again!
  7. I called my TA and twice was told by their supervisor that I'm out of luck. Is it on the cruise line to honor it or is it more on the travel agency? I'm trying to figure out who is the responsible party for honoring the original deal.
  8. I am asking this to see if I am SOL or should I appeal to Royal Caribbean. We were initially booked for an Alaskan cruise from Vancouver to Alaska in June 2021. It was cancelled and we did a lift and shift for the same time, same price, same ship in 2022. Everything seemed to be okay, but the onboard credit of $150/cabin was not showing up. I initially thought it would take a bit of time for everything to catch up. But when I called by TA, she said that unfortunately that OBC rate code only applied to that original sailing and that there was nothing that she could do. Now, my feelings is that the promotions that were part of the package should have carried over to the new bookings, since the cruise was cancelled. She implied that it was more of Royal Caribbean's policy than theirs. Should I pursue it through further through my TA, RC or chalk it up as SOL? Has anyone who did a L& S received all their promotions on their new booking? Any guidance would be very appreciated.
  9. Yes!!! You rock! I couldn't see these links. I might have to bump up my readers to 2.5x...
  10. My TA told me that for my L&S I had to use the same embarkation port AND it had to be within the 30 days of my sailing date. I was able to get the exact same cabin so that wasn't an issue. I did this about 2 months ago for my June Vancouver sailing. This was less flexible than previous L&S.
  11. Has anyone been able to access Air2Sea and book flights? I was able to view flight and book my air fare previously, but now it seems that you have to call them. It was a huge benefit to be able to see the different flights for different days and airlines, etc. Has anyone been able to access Air2Sea's site? I just got an email promoting this option.
  12. Come to think of it, the price was slightly higher (tax and port charges were higher) than the previous booking. I'll have to call them and have them adjust it. I agree with you 100% that I will not find a cheaper rate and if anything, supply, pent up demand and the possibility of running less than capacity may actually drive prices significantly up. We got the same cabin location and almost identical itinerary. June 2022 seems so far away... might have to also book something sooner!
  13. I'd like to share my experience with a Lift and Shift I just completed last last week. It seems that my options were a little different than previous Lift and Shift experiences I've read about. My family and I were scheduled for Alaska aboard the Serenade of the Seas from Vancouver June 12 to June 19. When I called my TA, I was advised that I could only do a Lift and Shift up to a year before or after our original sail date. Which meant that it would be either June 6, June 13 or June 20, 2022, not a year and month before/after the original sail date. I was also advised that I could not change my cruise type. I wanted to change it from a round trip cruise out of Vancouver to a Northbound cruise to Alaska from Vancouver. He said it was not an option and if I wanted to do that, I would have to get a refund and rebook an new sailing. I decided not, but do a straight Lift and Shift to June 13 and still on the Serenade. I opted for the Lift and Shift because mainly for two reasons. The first being that I got a really good price and wanted to maintain it and the second being at the time, my final payment (I only had the minimum deposit) was due at the end of February. I think Royal has shortened final payment window from 90 to 45 days. I might have waited out later if I knew that, make the final payment and get the FCC deal. I'm still very new to cruising and I am so glad the blog is here and has all this wonderful information available! This is my first post and I hope it was informative.
