  1. I actually just called and cancelled. It was very easy and took less than 5 minutes! That will teach me to book after a glass of wine!
  2. Long story, but I booked the wrong cruise last night with a refundable deposit. I haven't yet switched it over to my travel agent and would prefer to cancel it on my own rather than bother her. Can i cancel it on the website? If so, how? Thanks.
  3. Depending on how much wine you drink, and the price you are able to find on the beverage package, it might work out well for you. I don't drink any hard liquor, but i do enjoy wine, particularly with dinner. On vacation, i also enjoy a mimosa during the day occasionally. On our last cruise, I found that our family more than broke even with the beverage package at $47-wine by the glass averages $10 to $12 per glass. Three glasses gets you to $36. I also hydrate a lot and water bottles were around $3, so three bottles of water and three glasses of wine gets you pretty close to the break even point. My husband loves lattes, and they are also included, so he more than broke even. I also really liked not having to stress about how much we were spending.
  4. Even with no added incentive I often opt out of housekeeping every other day in a hotel. I just don’t make that much mess. I don’t have daily housekeeping at home and don’t need it in a hotel. I also reuse towels because it is a small way to help the environment. As to windjammer only, no thank you. I enjoy sit down meals.
  5. I just checked and RC now has scheduled sailings to Cuba through April 2020, so they must feel confident that the sailings will continue.
  6. My sailing is still 9 months away and there has been no sale on the beverage package. It is showing $57 pp. I am hoping for a Memorial day sale
  7. If you are still interested in the old cars excursion, check your cruise planner again. I was checking pricing this morning and noticed that it reappeared in the options. It disappeared a couple of weeks ago.
  8. Enjoy the time. The years "sail" by. I have to say that I have loved every moment of our children (except perhaps some of the teenage hormonal periods) and really enjoy them as adults. That said, my husband and I never took vacations without them because we treasured our time with them and are thoroughly enjoying time together now.
  9. I am so bummed! I have loved your posts and would be so happy to meet you. We are sailing on March 1. We are now empty nesters, so are not tied to the school calendar.
  10. Our issue was that our transportation was very late. We had arranged for 10:30 and they were after 11 getting there. If possible, I recommend an earlier time and tell them that you will pay for any waiting time. We had a tour in London-we made it but it added stress to the day.
  11. Interesting. I am in a GS on Oasis in M arch 2020 and there are lots of dining options in the planner but CK is not listed
  12. We were on Navigator in September with a guaranteed balcony and two guaranteed interiors. We got assigned right after final payment and got two interiors with virtual balconies and a spacious ocean view balcony, so it worked out great for us. Best of luck to you.
  13. Since you are so close, Alaska is a good way to see if you like cruising. It is truly beautiful and you can find out if your kids enjoy the children’s activities. Honestly on our first two cruises all our kids wanted to do was go to the kids programs in both the Caribbean and Alaska. They were true “clock watchers” and wanted to spend every possible minute in the kids club. This was on Disney and princess. Disney is known for kids programs but princess is not. Not sure if we’re such bad parents our kids will do anything to escape but both were great vacations for our family. Our “kids” are all now adults and we have found that a cruise is an ideal vacation. Enough time together; enough time apart. You will have a great time whichever you decide.
  14. I have had my travel agent (bless her heart) rebook my reservation 4 times. Each time for a lower price. We don't sail until March 2000, so prices are fluctuating widely. I check them myself and email her if it's lower, though i know that she also checks them.
  15. You can always move your booking to a travel agent any time before final payment. On advice of this forum, I transferred my booking to MEI travel. I was assigned to Sharla, and she has been responsive and helpful. You can probably still transfer your booking and get the easy help.
  16. Re priced. Auto correct strikes again
  17. I have reprised an upcoming cruise 5 times in the month since I booked it. I hav saved over $500 in doing so. I just emailed my travel agent and she took care of it. She also reviewed whether other price drops made sense
  18. We leave on Majesty August 14. A friend and I booked the cruise, then my 26 year son wanted to come and told his friends about it, so we now have a group of 6. We only booked to go to Cuba, so we are anxiously waiting. What is the May 2 announcement? Is that specific for your sailing? I haven't heard about it.
  19. I'm impressed. This is a very kind and thoughtful post.
  20. Thanks. That's my plan. Between wine with dinner, a beer by the pool and specialty coffees and bottled water, it is easy to justify it at below $50, but a little harder above that.
  21. The beverage package just appeared for our March cruise. Right now, it is $57, which is more than even I can justify. I am hopeful that it will go on sale. I did notice one thing that seemed different from the last time I booked: it specifically lists all of the brands of liquor that are included and says that it includes wines by the glass, but it does not list a maximum price for the wines. My understanding is that the limit is $13 on Quantum and Oasis ships and $12 on others, but I thought that was stated in the information before ordering. Has the limit changes, or am I missing something? Thanks.
  22. Good luck. We also looked at the tour you booked. It looks wonderful. I can't wait to hear about it.
  23. Hi, I am in the same "boat" as you! My first hope is that the ship actually stops in Havana. I booked the Classic cars tours because it looks like a good combination. It says it takes 5 hours, but only 2 or so are in the car. I also thought it was fairly reasonable at $214 for 3 people. I am hopeful that since it is limited to 3 adults (and so will only be our party), we can customize what we want to do and see. Sadly, my trip is after yours, so I won't be able to give you a report. I hope that you will report on what you decide to do and how you like it. We also looked at the full tour, but 8 hours seemed like a really long time. Good luck deciding.
  24. Wine generally runs around $12 per glass (and up). We like a glass or two of wine with dinner and because my husband and I have differing tastes, we almost always buy it by the glass. 2 glasses at dinner, a pre-dinner cocktail and a beer by the pool adds up to close to $40. Add in a couple of bottles of water, a specialty coffee and fresh squeezed juice (and/or a mimosa or bloody mary with breakfast) and we reach the break even point pretty easily if the price is less than $50 and don't really feel drink fatigue.
  25. I also strongly recommend two bathrooms!! We also have 3 children (adults now) but we did adjacent rooms when they were young.
