  1. Thanks for the note. I guess for one night it's not a big deal as long as it's clean and has the basics.
  2. Ah ok. Thanks for explaining. Maybe it's a way they can price rooms differently and see who bites?
  3. Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking at your link though and you mention Atwell Suites-Miami Brickell....not Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell. Having said that, I just did a google maps search and it seems like they are next to each other so your location comments would be the same. I should mention that with our flight time, we probably won't get there until 4:30pm or so, so just need a place to grab dinner...somewhere that is walkable...and hotel clean, basic etc with breakfast. I was also looking at airport hotels but a lot of them have nothing in walking distance. We've stayed at Hampton Inn Blue Lagoon before which was fine with stuff around it. Rooms don't seem to be released yet , but the month before is just as expensive as these two (and can't imagine xmas time being any better).
  4. This was our Go To hotel. It's been a few years but from what I remember, we just had to walk a block and we were at the main street with lots of restaurants and then not far from the Metro Mover. It's just a bit too pricey for us for this trip.
  5. Looking for a pre-cruise hotel in Miami before our December cruise. It'll be Christmas time so I know it won't be cheap (and hotels have gone up in general post covid) but having a hard time finding a decent hotel. We've stayed at Hampton Inn Brickell and had good experience there. We like the area and the hotel is clean and what we need. Unfortunately it's about $500 CAD. I've also found Tru by Hilton Miami West Brickell and Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell. Both still pricey but easier to take. Anyone stayed or knows anything about these?
  6. We had our entertainment open up on the app for out March cruise about 24 hours prior to it being available on the cruise planner (computer). Mind you, also got an entertainment email, which I haven't seen before, and by then it was available on the computer.
  7. Agree...from what I've seen you aren't outside on your balcony, but it's just a big window that opens. Nice views when it's closed but personally would prefer a traditional balcony. Really loved following everyone's posts and appreciate all the details, photos and sharing your experience and opinions. Really excited to go on her at xmas time. Ship seems beautiful with even more variety of food venues, bars, etc etc. Love the big windows and openness of this ship too. And of course our kids will just love the waterpark. I also like how they have a separate "tot" area that should spread out the kids a bit. Thank you all for taking us along.
  8. We had Simeon as a CD on Symphony in 2019 and I remember him saying he is usually the comedian but was filling in a CD. He was really funny though so not surprised you saying he was good.
  9. I'm looking at the deck plan.....Can you enter Absolute Zero on deck 5 (no Playmakers)? Or is it only accessible from deck 6 (Playmakers)?
  10. So great to be following along and enjoying Icon through all of you. Seems like a beautiful ship with just "Wows" all over. The Windjammer on this cruise too is first class! Question about the sofa bed. Has Royal stopped the trundle style sofa beds where a double sofa turns into two separate mattresses? Or maybe it's just your room (as your looks like it's more of a double bed)? I sure hope not as for our Icon booking we had to go back to a single room and our kids sharing a double (sofa) bed won't work. The trundle style is perfect as they each get their own mattrtess.
  11. I know this is an old post, but appreciate you posting and your follow up as we are in the same situation. It's been 3 weeks since our cruise. DH and my cruise include the points for the sailing; however, our kids points have yet to be updated. I called and they said we need to wait 30 days (which seems ridiculous and have never heard that before). I check our younger one's account each day and no change. And I know at this point, waiting 30 days will do nada.
  12. Thanks for posting. I find it fascinating hearing about your adventures and how they run the ship on a 9 month cruise. I'm enjoying following along. I knew there were segments, but didn't realize they had segments that are just a few weeks long.
  13. So excited for this review. We are on Icon next xmas so great to join in the excitement in the meantime. Hope you all have a wonderful cruise. Well, of course you will!
  14. DH and I tried to do the "Taste of the Caribbean" last July on Navigator. Sadly, they didn't have enough people to run it (as they close the Bamboo Room ), so it didn't end up running. They did give us a free drink though in it's place.
  15. Sabrina, waiting to fly home and I've now read your blog. It was so wonderful meeting you and @recogneyes in person! So glad it worked out. It's fun reading your experience on the ship and hearing your thoughts as every family can experience things differently. And of course, always interesting hearing your about your suite experience. Btw, I agree with you on The Book. The singing, dancing and special effects were great, but the show was I don't know....odd. (And I also did a double take on the "person" lying in the Solarium...lol). Too bad about our Haiti day weather but overall can't complain as certainly better than back home. Safe travels back home and hopefully our cruise paths will cross again.
  16. Happy to report that we just did check in for WestJet, and like your scenario, when we got to bags, it showed $0 for the cost of each bag. So it was in fact included.
  17. Thanks. Maybe Air2Sea misaligned the ticket with EconFlex. It's hard to tell as it doesn't seem like a one to one mapping (i.e. since the price isn't the same if you check on the airline's site directly). Or maybe we'll get lucky and it will in fact be included. However, we haven't pre-paid anything as we though they were included. Will just pay it when there if not, and will double check next time at booking if we do Air2Sea again.
  18. Yeah...it's just that Air2Sea listed the first bag as included. Guess next time, I should confirm with them when they send the invoice.
  19. This is what I mean by what I captured at booking time via Air2Sea (This happens to be WestJet booking) and then
  20. Question for anyone who has booked Air2Sea. When we did the booking on Air2Sea, it definitely showed that 1 bag is included (I assume per person). I have screenshots of this and I do remember checking a few times. Since we booked with WestJet, we had to wait until we paid off our cruise to book our seats. This all worked fine, except that when looking at our flights, it doesn't seem to show that any bags are included and it even recommends that we prepay. Did we miss doing something when we booked our seats? Or does this happen often? We fly out in a few days so I guess we'll see for sure if our bags are in fact included but doesn't seem so from WestJet emails (and even Royal's confirmation doesn't mention bags).
  21. Silly question (and I apologize if this was already mentioned). We don't get internet at all as we like to disconnect from the world....but with Diamond, do we still get 1 free day without buying any internet? Or it's only if you purchase it then 1 day is free?
  22. We quite enjoyed Adventure...mind you, have yet to have a bad Royal cruise. For Adventure, it was just DH and I, but they have the waterslides, and standard stuff like flowrider, mini golf, rock wall., ice rink. If I remember right, it has one less pool than Freedom class but still a great ship. I wouldn't hesitate.
  23. Thanks. I do check regularly but maybe I still missed it. Have an awesome time.
  24. Following along as we'll be on Odyssey end of December. Great that you are finally getting on her, and how nice to be going with family members. Question...at what point were you able to book iFly and North Star? I don't see it in our cruise planner yet and thought we had to wait until we board....but sounds like you've booked them beforehand. It's cruise day for you! Have an amazing time!
