Lovetocruise, excited to see your review.  Am sorry your group cruise didn't work out.  I know exactly what you mean about the board changing the Christmas holiday dates.  We originally had the Dec 19th week one booked with our kids. It was just a back up in case we didn't make it last March so it was fine, but would have been the same issue.  So frustrating when they do that ( which doesn't happen often) and it really messed up your plan and coordinating with Royal Blog friends. Glad you were able to find a new plan though and you were able to get your room.  Symphony is an amazing ship and very modern.  Check out each staircase.  It's beautiful.  YOLO as you say, and I can totally related to wanting to get in what you can with your kids.  Our son is going off to university next year.  So instead of cruising March and summer with all of us, it will now just be 1x a year at xmas/new years and hoping even that works.  Enjoy!  Safe travels.

Our spring breaks have been all over the map.  I’m a teacher, husband is a teacher and we have 3 kids.  One year we had 4 different spring breaks 😢.  Jane

    Thermal Suite ✅✅

We have used the thermal area twice and so far so good. Yesterday was understandably  busy but this morning was quiet. The steam room is hot hot hot and the dry sauna is a nice option too.  I always return to the suite to shower but Lindsay says the men’s area has basic shower amenities of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Water is available in the relaxation area and then you can take it into the thermal area.

Since I haven’t tried the spa yet and planning on it this trip…I am appreciating all the info!  Jane

Speaking of weather in Nassau, I had Beach Club reservations for our visit (for which I got a somewhat reasonable price during black Friday) but decided to cancel in anticipation of coolish weather.  We will be at PDCC on Wednesday.  I guess we’ll find out if I made a prudent decision when we get there !

Hopefully it will be coolish and you will be happy!  Or really improve and you will be relieved it’s warm.  So glad it should be warmer for us next week (Illinois is just awful) but I’m sorry it’s not warmer for you!  Jane

Port Canaveral to set cruise passenger records this Christmas season:

Dec 24 - estimated 52,000 passengers (new record)

Dec 31 - estimated 57,000 passengers (new, new record)

Last Sunday they parked 1,100 cars for one cruise ship.  Parking is said to be "tight".  I Wonder what ship that was?  I blame the RCL Blog Group Cruisers!

Ugh.  I'm beginning to panic over crowds.  I've sailed spring break, which is totally fine (busy but ok).  Now I'm sailing at a time when it will be way over "full" capacity and likely short staffing.  I hope I don't have unrealistic expectations...I haven't cruised since 2019 and I know it's different.  Jane

  5. Update 1 week before flight:

Winter sucks!  I hate winter and since it will be -30 wind chill tomorrow night, I hate it even more!  I keep checking the weather report for naussau and Cozumel.  It looks like fort Lauderdale might be rainy, but at least warm thank goodness.  I can sit under an umbrella in the rain if it's warm! Traffic has been bad in Chicago and weather is crap. Highs of 20 F, which given the wind in Chicago, can feel close to 0. I am looking forward to Jan when I sail again. Our first port is PDCC and I won't care if it is 40-50 because that will still be warmer than where I come from.

Next couple days are going to be brutal temp wise.  Hoping I get out of work by 4 and it isn't blizzarding!  Stay inside and warm... Have I mentioned I hate winter??  Jane

Does solarium bistro have the omelette station?  When I was on Symphony in Feb. Solarium bistro and Johnny Rockets were both closed for breakfast.

Yikes...I don't remember since I'm not a big "egg on ships" eater.  I want to say that they don't make them right there, but do have omelettes.  I don't remember if they were cook to order in the back, or not available.  Sorry I can't remember.  I will be on Harmony in 11 days and will try and check! Good morning from the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort!

We are off to a slow start today.  The activities director surprised us with a pool side cabana for the day which was perfect for our lazy Sunday. We are waiting on our Walmart order.  Planning to hit the sauna shortly.  The staff have been outstanding. Any request is actioned quickly.  Very happy with the room set up.  A twin size bed roll away was delivered complimentary as the sofa bed comfort is questionable for a grown male. Kitchen utensils are available upon request.  Very happy with the resort so far.

I was excited to see your pics.  We got a one day pass for this resort on our last day since our flight leaves at 9pm.  Hoping to enjoy a beautiful 8 hours there! If you have time, could you all them how early you can check in for the one day resort pass?  I couldn't find it in my docs. Jane

  9. Good morning!
So I have never found any little duckies on a ship, and would love to bring some to hide but I’m new to the game.  Do people put any tags or greetings on them?  Email to get notified if found?  And do you just hide them anywhere?
And now I have another excuse to buy more junk on Amazon.  Alexa is very busy “thanking my driver”.  Jane

If you are on an Oasis or Quantum Class ship, consider the Solarium Bistro for breakfast. It's rarely very crowded, and even when crowded, the crowd doesn't compare to the Windjammer.  It's a smaller buffet but has a good selection of breakfast items, and usually an omelette station.

I was going to say the same thing.  It’s truly a hidden gem!  We always found a table on allure and it was never packed!   Jane

It’s fun to read cruise blogs while waiting for your turn, so thank you!  My turn is coming the end of February, and it’s just gonna be my “slightly boring hubby” and an “old white woman” on the cruise, so you are going to have some serious competition for most boring blog!

This cracks me up.  Challenge accepted lol!  Let me know if you need reports on anything while I'm on the ship!  Jane

We just recently got off an 8 night southern cruise on Harmony to Aruba and Curacao.  It was packed or so I thought, around 5800 on our cruise but were told 6200 the week before during Thanksgiving.  I like the ship, my 3rd Oasis class ship, been doing them in order, so 2 to go.  I would never do Wonderland again, my wife liked it, but I have to many dietary restrictions for the limited menu.  I say add Sabor to your list for lunch on a sea day, it is my favorite place for lunch, we also went for dinner one night.  We had the UDP but couldn't get into Izumi when we wanted they were all booked, and that was with us going there right when we got onto the ship at 11:30.  I think our favorites were 150 and Jamie's.  We had a waiter at Jaime's named Jessie, he was fantastic, I suggest asking for him, he should be there as he came on the ship when we did for his 6 month contract.  Towards the end of the cruise I told my wife that I was going to come home with Covid. To my surprise it wasn't me but her that go it, and this without us getting it after nearly three years, not sure how I missed out.  The first day of cruising everything was fine, but with a few days to go there were more and more people coughing and more and more people wearing masks.  When the last day came I truthfully couldn't wait to get off the ship.   You will be at that higher end of capacity for a NYE cruise, good luck on the cruise the flights and have fun on a festive NYE cruise.  We did a NYE cruise with our 2 boys back in 2014 and now I can't remember anything about what it was like NYE.

We have some sabor 3 or 4 times. Loved it on freedom, but it wasn't good on allure for us so I think we will just do drinks.  Jamies for sea day is gonna be great I think!  Excited to try it since we've only done Giovanni's.  We avoided covid for 2 years until this October, when we both went down.  We will both be boosted so I think we will be ok if we can avoid colds lol (both teachers lol).  Jane

You will have a blast! Last year on Oasis they brought in a rock band (Phoenix) and played some great music outside at the Aquatheatre and then another set NYE in the Music Hall. Holiday sailings are really a spectacular time to cruise. Enjoy! If you need help with anything while in Fort Lauderdale just PM me and I will help you with recommendations for dinner exc.

I'm already hitting you up on the other thread!  You have been a great source whenever I have fort Lauderdale questions!!!!!   Thank you!

I'm so excited for NYE on a ship!!!! We don't live super crowds, so I'm excited to hear other places besides the promenade will be happening! Jane

We loved the Southport Raw Bar when we were in Fort Lauderdale prior to our cruise.  It's actually just a little walk from you hotel.  It's at the west end of the canal north of your hotel.  Very low key and no need to dress up.  I would still recommend getting the water taxi pass.  Great way to get to different parts of the city.

Thanks for the recommendation!!!  Loving all these options!  Jane
