  1. Won't work - too many (mostly older)people without smartphones and those of us who choose to unplug while on vacation will also create a logjam. They would have to provide those little table-top kiosks used in some restaurants (and teach a decent portion of their clientele how to use them). Think of all the sanitizing required, too.
  2. Correction - that's one of ten Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conferences that cancelled. To date 11 of the 23 Division I conferences have cancelled - Big Sky, Colonial, Ivy, Mid-east Athletic, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Patriot, Pioneer, and Southwestern Athletic of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) - the highest level of college football with an NCAA Championship all cancelled before the MAC.
  3. An opportunity for the US government to "look good" to us as constituents. "Hey, WE'RE not the ones keeping you from travelling!"
  4. They're not bad, but they'll never be savory bites.
  5. All the Empress photos remind me of something that has always boggled the mind - the public spaces on the smaller ships have so much more room to move around. In particular, the Schooner Bar has less chairs and tables in what appears to be MORE space than on some of the newer, bigger vessels.
  6. The eyewall passed very near us and the overall effect was not much more than a typical summer thunderstorm. Isaias was moving so rapidly that it did little as it passed through.
  7. C'mon @twangster, I'm sure you can read the dates on the pictures posted! Issue date 15 AUG 2018. Sailing Date 09 AUG 2019. Clearly trolling here.
  8. Not to mention it references a cruise that would have been completed LAST August.
  9. The best Chile Relleno I ever ate was at El Sarape West in (get this) Ashwaubenon, WISCONSIN (just outside of Green Bay).
  10. I USED to enjoy those, but on our last two cruises such food was nowhere to be found. The closest thing to "variety" was when they changed up what they added to some of the scrambled eggs (mushrooms today, onions tomorrow). Which is exactly why the breakfast is so disappointing in recent years.
  11. And the same to @rjacfor a couple days early next week. We can use the rain in Winterville, so I assume New Bern can as well. We don't have concerns about surge flooding like you, though.
  12. That's easy - no, the reservation isn't cancelled. The others on the reservation have their costs repriced to reflect only two people instead of three.
  13. But it was SO much better when the lamb was lamb chops. The shanks range from wonderful to inedible due to the excess fat.
  14. Oh, I agree. Of the national or regional chains, only Jets is even remotely pizza. Even a disappointing-relative-to-the-rest-of-the-fleet Sorrento's is an upgrade over all the "big boys."
  15. Yet the North Carolina counties including/surrounding Charlotte (Mecklenburg/Cabarrus/Gaston/Union) are among the worst in the state.
  16. If other threads didn't do the trick, this is proof that we're truly missing cruising. We're talking about Sorrento's again! Let the love it/hate it debate begin! AGAIN!!!
  17. Toilet paper is still in short supply locally, but I agree with you about the timing. I found it on a winery website while developing a plan for a weekend tasting tour.
  18. I too am a mid-50s asthmatic. I'm ready to get on a ship any time cruising is available and my schedule permits. To answer your question - visit a State Park for a hike (level of difficulty your choice). Do some wine tastings - many wineries are open with limited space availability (which hasn't been an issue relative to the number of people visiting in our recent experience).
