  1. The same can be said of smartphones. What was mind blowing single digit years ago is now greeted with... meh. It's really hard for smartphone makers to blow any more minds. They try folding screens and other gimmicks but it often comes back to upgrading a core component - the camera. Is that evolution or revolution? A camera in a smartphone is now a basic component, no longer an "Oh wow, it has a camera!" instead it's expected. Oh wait, it has six lenses. Meh.
  2. 3. My agent can see them but they haven't loaded discounts yet, everything is full price apparently. TAs can usually see them before they go public.
  4. Contact your TAs!!! EDIT - Only standard pricing is loaded, not quite yet...
  5. That's a trick question. @mpoole3 has stopped cruising since having a baby
  6. Did you hear about the guy who invented Lifesavers? They say he made a mint!
  7. I think we'll quickly learn what is changing once cruising restarts. For a number of cruises I went with the Ultimate Dining Plan when it was on sale recently since it's possible the Windjammer might be closed for dinner. It's easy enough to cancel cruise planner purchases a few days before the cruise so I'm covering myself until we know more.
  8. Welcome to the message boards. It was offered on the last cruises in 2020 before the shutdown so I see no reason to come to the conclusion it's been eliminated. Ultimately we won't know until guests board since it is an on-board offer.
  9. This act needs to be expanded with fresh eyes looking at the whole country. The US is too big for a one size fits all approach. Just as the CDC doesn't make rules or regulations for school health related matters these are left to each state to consider CDC guidance but in the end each state establishes their own laws for them. The CDC should be put back into the bottle and be contained to an advisory role with absolutely no police powers to establish blockades or bans for anything including cruise ship operations. A one agency federal police force with no oversight from the states involved doesn't work and should be considered unconstitutional even during a public health emergency. This needs to be fixed before the next public health emergency arrives.
  10. The URL the should do the trick once they open: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruises/?departureCode_LAX=true&shipCode_NV=true
  11. Depending on the date I may be debarking Jewel as you embark.
  12. Why do melons have weddings? Because they cantaloupe!
  13. Looks like they've loaded more since it's now showing Nov. '21 through Apr. '22 but still not bookable. Any day now.
  14. That's interesting. Port Canaveral went with a barge for LNG bunkering. It arrived a month or so ago. PoM appears to be plumbing it into the pier. That suggests they are keeping the LNG storage close by. Most ports don't want it stored nearby. I was watching a show the other night that featured an LNG powered ferry that operates on the River Plate between Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay. They used LNG trucks to get the fuel from nearby storage facilities to the ship.
  15. 35 days either includes a dry dock and canal transit or a non-revenue Cape Horn. That means Cape Horn revenue cruise doesn't look like it's going to happen.
  16. Posted on the interwebs. Nov. 19, 2021 - 7 Nights Also 7 nights on Dec. 24 Dec. 31 Jan 17 Mar 18 Mar 25 But not open for booking yet.
  17. Something is happening but they are not open for booking just yet. Ship = Navigator, Port = Los Angeles Shows some months but no results for actual sail dates.
  18. Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon? The food is out of this world but there is no atmosphere.
  19. People write jokes? Who knew? ?
  20. Los Angeles is also that much closer to Mexico compared to more Northern CA ports so it's easier to pop down to Ensenada on a 3 night cruise. That makes for an economical voyage and that means less expensive cruise fares. I prefer the Long Beach airport when flying in to cruise, much more relaxed experience. Hoping the Queen Mary hotel is able to reopen. What an awesome way to kick off a cruise.
  21. Thanks for the update. One day soon. It's still coming.

  23. There are limited ports and multiple cruise lines competing for slots so it's not so simple as Royal doing exactly what it wants to do but having to adapt to what is possible. What we know so far: 3 night - Ensenada 4 night - Catalina and Ensenada 5 night - Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada 7 night - Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta So basically similar to other lines for the same reasons. There is only so much that is possible from this part of California while keeping the cruises aimed at the target market. I think we'll see more 5 night itineraries begin to cycle into the rotation into and beyond the summer of 2022. The 3 /4 rotation is the bread and butter of the short cruise market because it captures the crowd that is looking for a weekend getaway. Keep in mind roughly 50% on any given sailing tend to be new to cruise so the 3 / 4 satisfies this market segment as new guests test cruising to see if they like it.
  24. SilverSea is implementing a vaccine required approach for all guests. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/04/12/silversea-will-require-all-cruise-ship-passengers-be-fully-vaccinated While this likely doesn't impact too many family cruisers it is interesting in the context that SilverSea is part of RCG and like NCL the Healthy Sail Panel should be involved with their guidance. With Pfizer applying for approval for the 12-15 age group the number of families impacted for US based cruises grows smaller with each vaccine expansion.
