Can you still at the bars? Do you have to wear a mask?
twangster replied to WVcruiser2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If the bar is in a vaccinated only area there tends to be bar seating. In "everyone" venues they tend to have the bar eating blocked off. -
Indy and Freedom are both now servicing the short Florida cruise market doing runs to CocoCay and Nassau on a 3/4 alternating schedule. Freedom from Miami and Indy from Port Canaveral. Next year Liberty comes to Florida to join her sisters doing the 3/4 short Florida cruises from Ft. Lauderdale. Mariner is a shortened version of Indy that has cruises that vary from 4 - 8 nights including a couple Bermuda runs. She is still operating from Port Canaveral.

Social Media Onboard VOOM vs. Surf
twangster replied to MrKyle's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Voom pricing does go up and down depending on the phase of the moon squared to the power of the king tides in the Bay of Fundy. No one knows when or if Voom pricing will go on sale for a particular cruise during a specific holiday sale. Check for price drops often. If you buy it and the price drops refund your purchase and buy it at the lower price. -
does specialty dining for just one restaurant ever go on sale?
twangster replied to fa-li's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
D+ and above get a BOGO specialty restaurant offer. -
Check In - Can still do on computer or phone only?
twangster replied to WannaCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The check in time should work for all in that cabin. You are all in a suite. In the past Bayonne had a separate suites check in area so you all should be good anyway it works out. Hopefully Bayonne will continue to offer the suites check in area when Anthem returns. -
The vax card upload remains a work in progress. I've seen it disappear then reappear in the app. I've only used my phone to upload vax card pics so I can't address your scenario but I wouldn't worry too much about it, it takes 30 seconds for them to do it in the terminal.

Check In - Can still do on computer or phone only?
twangster replied to WannaCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The app has the benefit of being able to scan your passport and is the only place where you can answer the health question that are the last step in the check in process and the step that must be completed within 24 hours of embarkation. Other than that, you can bounce back & forth using the app or a computer for all other check in tasks including going back later to look for better arrival appointment times. -
I definitely would not stress about uploading vax card pics. During the B2B process on Indy they struggled getting me checked in. I could see on their tablet that my vax card photos were there. They could see them but the green button for them to proceed to the next step wasn't green and they were stuck. They eventually worked around it but it seems to me I might have been better to just do it at the terminal. For the first segment they received a duplicate ID error at check in. Their check in app was complaining someone with my name and passport number was already checked in... in the same cabin number. They all could see it was me in the same cabin but their app was raising an alarm. Took two supervisors to clear me through check in. The app remains a work in progress, both for us and the app they use to check us in.

twangster replied to fa-li's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Not that I recall but it's not something I've followed that closely. Once I reached the point of having a C&A BOGO offer for specialty dining I've always booked on board. -
They will email a reminder that it is time to answer the health questions but you can't actually access them in the app until you are less than 24 hours from your actual arrival appointment time. In the app go to the check in area where you'll find the health questions as the final step in the check in process.

Social Media Onboard VOOM vs. Surf
twangster replied to MrKyle's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You can post on social media with surf but pictures and videos on social media won’t work very well. Simple text posts work fine. -
Here is the fleet guide for entertainment: https://secure.viewer.zmags.com/publication/8d5cc72f#/8d5cc72f/1 These are the core shows that don’t change very often. The other acts as @wordell1 mentioned will rotate between ships. Entertainers like comedians change very frequently. Others like pub singers may stay for a month or more.

Port Canaveral - Two Ships Embarking at Same Time
twangster replied to elmovilla's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
There are large overhead signs as you drive into PCN. Or you can check a site like marinetraffic.com to see what ship is using which terminal. Terminal one is the main Royal terminal but there are other shared terminals like at other ports. They may put the charter at another terminal if it is out of cycle so that they don't have to bus guests around for the scheduled cruises if they were embark & debark at different terminals. -
Check In - Can still do on computer or phone only?
twangster replied to WannaCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You can still check in on the computer. You can't answer the health questions the day before the cruise on the computer but other than that check in still works on a computer. In some cases I could only check in on a computer, the app has been wonky for a number of my cruises. -
Cruise Directors' Interaction with Guests
twangster replied to PG Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yes, COVID strikes again. Over time hopefully we move closer to the old ways. -
I'm not sure any of us truly appreciate the red tape and myriad of government regulations from many countries that the cruise lines have had to navigate through to restart cruising. Just when they take a step forward one country or government agency throws a wrench in the machine and every thing goes off kilter. It's a pretty amazing job they've done to get to where we are. Having said that cruising in the restart won't be for everyone. The world is not back to the old normal we used to know. It's okay to not like the protocols and to reach the decision that cruising isn't for you right now. That's a personal matter and each of has a different tolerance for the absurd and in some cases seemingly unexplainable protocols that have been placed on the industry right now.

How rigid are the check-in times for Embarkation?
twangster replied to gugenheimz's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I asked Royal about the lack of a Suites entrance at Port Canaveral. Response: Good afternoon and thank you for your email. You raised a good question, and we immediately connected with the team overseeing our cruise terminal operations. With new protocols in place and with the Terminal only having one entrance in Port Canaveral, it was difficult to operate as we did in normal times with a dedicated line of security for Suite guests and Pinnacle members. The good news is that the team has been working on changing the flow, and we will be reverting to our normal paths very soon. Once again, we appreciate your loyalty over the years and for being amongst the first to sail back with us. -
You will need to call.

Changing Room Assignments Pre-Cruise

If they booked through a travel agency that is who they should call. If booked direct without a TA then they call direct. -
Serenade of the Seas (Radiance class) White lifeboat cover
twangster replied to levib2's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
7520 is in the forward section of the ship. There are no lifeboats in this area. Your balcony is an extended balcony which is longer but the divider does not cover the full length of the balcony. At the railing you will be able to see your neighbors. Some people don’t like this feature but I personally like it. -
Yes. As noted by @CrimsonCruiser

On to the next cruise…Alaska - Flight Query
twangster replied to Scoular's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Congratulations! For your flights I’d suggest pricing it both ways. Airlines have a “multi city” option so it’s pretty easy to price check them using Kayak or Google flights. Air2Sea already knows that it’s multi city so it easy to price them as well. I’m booked on Serenade from Vancouver followed by Quantum with a night in a hotel in between so I am also flying to Vancouver and out of Seattle. I’m using airline points but I found it better to book both flights as one trip. Sometimes it better to book multi city as two separate flights but not in this case.
