I agree for the most part but don't they at some point have to build "smaller" ships? I maybe not 90 thousand tons but to replace Freedom class and Vision clas ships? Freedom, Liberty, Indy getting up there. Same with the Vision class, Explorer and Adventure. They are gonna need 140 thousand ton ships at some point right? 

My point was to the OP complaining about paying "more" as a single, adding on to your comment that one is paying for the room as a whole. I was AGREEING with you, but you seem to have missed that point.
Yes, the cruise industry DOES work that way. There is a minimum cost for the ROOM and you pay the full price whether there is one person in that room or two (C&A 340+ points is the exception). The difference between cruise cabins and hotel rooms comes into play when you add a third person (or more) to a room. The cruise fare is discounted, a hotel room is (typically) no additional charge.

Think of it like a hotel room (which it is, but just happens to move from place to place). When I travel alone on business, I pay the same price for a hotel room as my wife and I would for the same room if travelling together for pleasure.

I agree as a person who primarily cruises solo, I pay double. The thing is that the rooms are all based on at least double occupancy, so if only one person stays in a two-person room, they are losing out on revenue. Some ships have solo rooms, but they are few and far between, they also get sold quickly. A single person pays double fare but not the taxes and fees.

Sometimes life hands you chaos and there are small blessings mixed in. We just spent sometime hanging out and chatting with cruise friends who we have known through various cruise communities for a long time, but we have never met them in person. Fellow Canadians. Because our flight was delayed, we ended up being able to see them before they boarded their plane for their cruise. ❤️

Well, the 2 checked bags are off! Let’s hope we meet them in Orlando.

The original rebooked flight departing at 2:30pm was a plane arriving from Seattle and that one had left on time at 6:00am (Seattle time) and then they switched us to a plane coming in from San Diego. Who knows what’s happening. That’s why I am afraid to move anything else around right now. Might as well just sit tight.

I knew your husband would pull through despite the direness of the situation. 
I found the key to Downey wrinkle release is to do this after a shower. In fact, I always unpack first, shower before that first night's dinner and release all the wrinkles then. But most of my clothing doesn't keep wrinkles that bad I am often packed at least a week before departure.

Meanwhile D14 is truly his daughter. I mentioned earlier that she started volunteering at a kids camp this week. I told her to pack her stuff for the grandparents house on Sunday. Did she listen? Nope. She was running around last night trying to pack only to realize that half of what she needed was dirty. So off she goes to my mom's house later with one packing cube of clean clothes and one packing cube of dirty clothes lol
I don't know how either one of those two function in life lol
You are right! I woke up this morning to find his carry on all all zipped up and at the door and checked luggage is all organized. Opposite attract I guess 😆

Day before we leave...
- Mani/Pedi done
- Everything packed except for the last minute stuff that cannot be done until we leave
- Asked Hubby again how his packing is going. His words were, "terrible". Yikes!
- I was surprised that I got a notification on my phone to do mobile check in for our hotel for Thursday. Usually that doesn't happen until 24 hours out. We requested early check in. Hopefully they can accommodate for that.
- Hannah emailed our schedule to us earlier today. I have zero complaints. She scheduled us for everything that we wanted, at the the times that I requested. This includes Izumi Hibachi for dinner. Zero issues. Hubby and I both agree that this is likely due to the fact that there are only 2 of us, as opposed to 10 of us last cruise. Like I mentioned in the other blog, I suspect that a lot of the compromising we had to do on HM had to do with the fact that there was 10 of us, and there were other star class families with even larger numbers.

Thanks everyone! I just emailed Hannah. 3 sea days, one lunch at each restaurant (Izumi, Hooked, and Mason Jar).

This is not entirely true. I didn’t have “no luggage”, just not “all my luggage”. 
 
We speak of this so often I thought I would show you all how I managed to survive that whole week without my checked bag during that March 2022 fiasco. 
 
This is how I pack like I am going to lose my checked bag:
21 inch carry on comes with me on the plane. It contains all my clothes for the entire trip minus the “dress bag”. In this carry on, there are also a few back up outfits that can be used for dinner in case the “dress bag” does not make it. The “dress bag” contains only my dresses for dinners. I also carry what I consider essential with me in this carry on, my T3 blow dryer, and curling iron. 

In my carry on personal item (and before you ask, yes, I can get this to fit under the seat in economy), all those shoes you saw from yesterday are now tucked away in the bottom compartment of this bag (see arrow). 

This still leaves me a ton of space to carry whatever allotment I am allowed by TSA for liquids, my vitamins and Gravol, makeup, etc. 

The only things going in that checked bag is the “dress bag”, liquids and hair products that don’t make the 3oz cut, and whatever Hubby puts in it. 
 
So back to what @Neesawas saying, strategic packing means that you can still make do when the worst happens. Good luggage helps too! I love my Beis travel products! 

Oh, and to continue to justify why it takes me so long to pack, it requires a good amount of strategy because I always pack like I am going to lose my checked luggage. So a certain amount of organizing has to take place while packing. Those driving to the port don't have that problem.
On top of that, I always say to Hubby and the kids, we don't want every single suitcase opened and sprawled out in the hotel room pre-cruise. The goal is to organize it so that we only open 1-2 suitcases. The rest stays locked until we get on the ship.
My family says that I have too many "systems". As I type this, I am beginning to see why. But systems work and makes things efficient 😆 I should stop talking about my systems and go continue my packing!

It literally takes Dan and me 1 hour to pack for a cruise.  Most of the "cruise stuff" just stays in the suitcases.  Our cruise clothing strategy is so simple...we just wear what we usually wear.  I take a couple of dressy(er) pants outfits; sometimes Dan brings his tux but less often, these days.  2-3 pair of shoes each....couple of bathing suits.  Yep.  That's about it.  Done and gone.

Hubby wanted me to post this. He wants all of you to know that Star Wars is serious business in this household. This 29 inch luggage is coming with us empty…but will likely come back on the 30th completely full.


This is in addition to the other 29 inch that we always bring. 😬

I am always shocked when people say they gain on cruises. I eat more than I ever would in my "real" life and always lose weight. 
I know we had this convo in @Neesa Wonder blog but I am all for people living their best lives. I can afford to do star class, but I personally find little value in it. I will say that I can appreciate CK more now that I have had to deal with the MDR. But I am a budgeter that assigns value to everything. I can do luxury on a budget. I don't think doing star class/being a suite snob makes @Lovetocruise2002 , @Neesa or anyone else any less down to earth. Just like choosing only interiors wouldn't make another person cheap. 
Also, the free-range omelet is the way to go, spoken by a person who doesn't eat seafood, therefore it's the only true option.

Same world. Ask @Neesa, we're pretty down to Earth, we remember where we are from.
But we do like to spoil ourselves when we can.

Free range ricotta? The cheese is allowed to run around in a field and isn't kept in cages?
