  1. Very top of this page, the top banner, you will see Cruise Compasses, then you just need to find your ship and the most recent date.
  2. I knew from following news reports why companies don't want to cruise the Mexican Riviera, I guess what I should have correctly said was that I wish things were different on the Mexican Riviera so that we could cruise there without worrying about the safety of our Families. I don't know about the gulf side, maybe, but I think big brother is watching pretty closely for it to get to far out of hand. I don't want to get in trouble for going off topic, so, yes, hopefully RCCL can add more diversity for cruises leaving from Galveston, they could go to the South Caribbean, it just might need to be a 9 or 10 day cruise to get there and back.
  3. Well said... When you can live on a cruise ship year round for relatively the same price as a retirement community, why not go for the cruise ship. I agree, with staying on board ship, that is what we are planning on doing at Costa Maya.
  4. Matt, I agree, I can't even imagine what it's like for cruisers that take 3-4 cruises a year, my work and personal schedule allows 1 cruise a year, I was going to take 2 cruises this year, one was for me, one was with my kids and grand kids, for the kids we were taking the Harmony, more for the boat instead of the itinerary, but we had to cancel, new grand baby on the way and Mom and baby would not be able to travel. The one I picked for me was out of Galveston, mainly because I could drive, knowing that I would be visiting the same ports again. I've been to Cozumel so many times now that I feel like I should buy a house. What I did try and do was go to places (excursions) I have never tried before, different beaches, different side of the island. Roatan should be fun, this will only be my second time visiting. The point being, that I think we need to help ourselves, in 2016 I went to the Mediterranean, 2019 I'm doing the Southern Caribbean out of San Juan, 2020 looking at South Pacific or another Mediterranean cruise. I would love for RCCL to start cruising the Mexican Riviera, I have never cruised in the Pacific, only visited and stayed in Hawaii, that's a thought, maybe cruise Hawaii...
  5. Good question, I don't know either, thankfully every sail away I've had has been in good weather.
  6. I had previously been on 8 cruises dating back to 2000 and have gone to the casino on every cruise every night, I should have been a expert, but really knew nothing about it until I typed Club Royal in the search window on this forum, I learned a lot from Waaaytooo, I called a number she provided in one of her post and found out I'm a member of CR and didn't know it, I can't find the number she provided, I lost my note, sorry.
  7. St Thomas, we took a Jeep tour, was fun but the tour was full so you had 4 people to a jeep, so I had to hand off driving to someone I knew nothing about half way through, we have also been on the beach breaks, St Thomas and St Johns, both are beautiful, Trunk Bay probably the most beautiful. If you or your significant other likes to shop or loves jewelry, this is the place to buy it, I was also here for my 25th anniversary and bought my wife a ring that appraised for 4 times the amount I paid when I got back home, appraised for insurance purposes. Curacao, just walk around like everyone says, the architecture is amazing, make sure you experience the walking bridge that separates the two sides of the port. Aruba, Palm and eagle beach, I love this island so sometimes I find myself just walking around enjoying the scenery. St Kitts, my wife and I took an ATV tour up into the hills and it was amazing, nothing to dangerous (my wife does not like excitement), then they took us to a beach as part of the tour. We had some cruise mates that did the train and thought it was really good also San Juan, as someone stated above if you can work a day before or a day after and stay on the island it is really an amazing place to explore, the old town and the old forts are very cool to go see. If you don't have any time before or after but maybe you have a late flight out, there is a place in Old Town that will store your luggage while you sight see, I don't remember the name, you can search the forums and get the name of the place, it was not a tourist trap.
  8. Bobcatpt, I'm getting ready to leave on Liberty on May 28th, please let me know how the ship is.
  9. Awesome, I think you will enjoy it, my wife and I went in 2001, we were celebrating our 20th anniversary, I'm sure a lot has changed with the new dig and the new mega locks, we went on Princess back then, 1 of my few non-RCCL cruises, I don't think RCCL was cruising the Panama back then or their dates didn't fit my needs, to long ago. In 2001 we were in our 40's, and because of the long itinerary most of the people on board were much older, we felt out of place, but still had a wonderful time. We are the older folks now on cruises. The day we entered the locks (Going east to west) was very, very early, 4am, but we woke up and tried to go to the bow of the ship but almost didn't make it because of all the wheel chairs and electric scooters, the remainder of the day we decided to watch from our balcony, which was fine, but what you saw depended on whether the lock was draining or filling, some of the times we were just looking at a concrete wall. We didn't stop anywhere after the locks, we just transited the lakes and went to the west side locks. It is very beautiful scenery. Happy you got it booked, I looked into it last night, but the dates don't fit with existing commitments.
  10. If you pre-book when they have specials running, like they just had, but I believe the offer has expired, you would have seen it on your cruise planner page, then it seems beneficial to pre-book them. Also on embarkation day, if you go to the spa they will be offering specials, if you book a treatment on port days they should be cheaper, sea days are not, because that is when they have the highest demand.
  11. I think one of the big draws for this was that depending on the day of the week and the time of day you might get to see a KLM 747 land or take off, but the last KLM 747 landed there I think a couple of months ago.
  12. I always picked itinerary first, until the Oasis class ships came out, then I cruised on each one of them (So far), now I'm back to itinerary first. Sometimes the date plays a key role because my wife works in education, but so far it hasn't been an issue, her working in education has probably saved me money, otherwise I would probably book a cruise a quarter...
  13. WAAYTOOO, I have learned so much today about the CR program and what to do when by reading your and others post, I called CR today and found out I'm a member, I didn't even know that I was. I don't have a lot of discount because I don't bet very much, but they already put me on the list for my next cruise May-2017 (26 days, I think) and have waived the 5% fee. Now I just need to check in with the Casino host when I get on board. Not knowing about this service (CR) in the past I have never spoken to the host before. I haven't booked anything yet through CR, they suggested I wait until my cruise since it is so close and see what I get certificate wise.
  14. "JLmoran", might know, his profile is listed to NJ, but I haven't seen him post in a couple of days, maybe he's on a cruise, LOL.
  15. I saw them in concert, I think 2015, in the middle of the concert they broke out and went totally acoustic, it was great.
  16. Friend of mine cruised on Anthem in March and he stayed at, Courtyard Newark Elizabeth, I asked him how far to the port and he didn't tell me a distance but said it was a $12 Uber ride. Hope this helps, he sent me a pic and it looks nice.
  17. It may have been completely stopped, it was hard to tell, but I could tell the Captain had definitely started to pull away until I assume the ship was radioed that a tender was heading it's way...
  18. MikeK, I agree, I'm just wondering how much pressure RC is feeling from the Market and the Shareholders to maintain or increase the dividend, hence cost cutting. I say this because I have seen post by people eating in the specialty restaurants that are not even happy with the quality that they receive, Chops grill as an example, steaks under cooked or over cooked, to fatty or tough. I'm one of the people that was slow to adapt the specialty dinning, I liked the tradition of dressing nice, going to the late seating in the MDR, having dinner and then going to a show, but I'm slowly changing to the specialty dinning, my upcoming cruise in May I purchased the 3 night dinning package and MTD. I don't personally have any complaints, but I try hard to manage my expectations so I won't be disappointed.
  19. On one of my cruises, the port stop was Belize, which uses tenders to get people to and from the ship, we waited about an 30 minutes and then you could feel the ship starting to move, then it slows down to a crawl and low and behold here comes a tender with 16-20 people on it. I don't know if the ship ever came to a complete stop, but they opened the door back up and secured the tender and let the people back on,,, all the while being chorused by many 100 of people watching from the sail away party.
  20. I know mine is OCD, I keep thinking I have missed or forgotten something.
  21. I can't remember the exact situation that happened, but I will log in to "my Cruises" book a dinner/excursion/Voom, you get the idea, and then sometime later I will get an email saying, don't forget to book your dinner/excursion/Voom, again you get the idea, if I was logged in with a different user name or email address I would understand. It's like marketing and operations live in two different IT spectrum's. I'm an IT guy, I work on computers and networks every day, I get that it's not easy, but it's like the IT department builds the web page and then never uses it or has to experience it for themselves. Sorry, just me venting.
  22. I agree, I did the same thing, it was great to get away and just unplug for a week.
