  1. Pick a browser, marry go round, one day one will work the next day maybe not...
  2. I was pleasantly surprised on the cruise out of Galveston that I just got off of (June 4th), 99% of the people I saw in the MDR were dressed at a minimum in what I call smart business casual, Saturday night when people were trying to pack their suitcases for disembarkation, you saw a little less "better" dress, but I never saw shorts or t-shirts in the MDR.
  3. I just got off a cruise June 4th, already booked another cruise when I got home, looking to book another before summer is over, I'm trying to figure out if I can be a senior citizen and live on a cruise ship when I retire...
  4. I felt some of your pain, I was dis-embarking on 6-4, my wife and I had decided to carry our own luggage off, which turned out to be smart on our part, but dis-embarkation on the ship was a total mess. We assumed that a lot of people probably drove to the cruise terminal and so a lot of people were carrying their luggage off to try and hit the road early like us. Eventually the ship got it together and started letting people off the ship, we got through customs and started to walk outside and the rain hit, I'm talking raining cats and dogs, we had intended to catch the shuttle to parking (Also EZ Cruise parking), but to save my wife from getting soaked I left her at the terminal and jumped on the shuttle, got my car and headed back to the terminal. We were on the road and headed back to Oklahoma by 9:15, so not much of a complaint. It always sucks leaving a week of rest and relaxation and the beloved cruise ship, but when weather causes issues, it seems to double the pain.
  5. My IE always shows a certificate issue with the RCCL web site as a whole, but that is probably just my set up, I have security locked down on all of my browsers.

  7. Careful, it will start sending you emails about a cruise you have already booked...
  8. I just got to mine, I'm accessing through Firefox, I would try Firefox or Chrome and not IE. I can never get IE to work with cruise planner.
  9. WAAAYTOOO's comment above are the same as I've experienced, don't leave Falmouth port unless you are with an organized tour, inside the port is secure. I don't want this to sound like Jamaica is a bad place, but the vendors and the locals get very pushy and upset if you don't spend money. Every excursion I've been on I have felt safe wherever we went. I just experienced this in Roatan, we went over to the West Bay/West End and the locals got very aggressive with my wife and I and I'm a big guy... The last RCCL ship said the exact same thing in the cruise compass and the shopping channel on TV. So this should not be a surprise to most people.
  10. Will not hurt to call, the discount should be in the $225 range, it only gets applied to the one C&A member, both parties don't get it. At least that is the way it is documented on my last booked cruise.
  11. I agree with Doc, if you pre-book your dinning, you have no issues, if you go to a specialty on embarkation day, it was also easy and available. But after the ship sails and everyone has made their reservations, that's a problem, I had a reservation but decided I wanted to eat at a different time and nothing was available and that was going through the Diamond concierge.
  12. Read a book, watch a video on an iPad.
  13. I just got off of the Liberty on June 4th, the muster lasted around the 30 minute time frame everyone is referencing, unlike the Oasis class ships where you sit in a restaurant or bar the Liberty was outside standing on deck four, like some have said, it could have been over earlier if people didn't think it pertained to them and wandered down late.
  14. http://royalportfolio.com/ This is Royal's shopping web page, just look up Jamaica, these are the official sponsored pages I'm sure there are plenty of other's that Royal doesn't sponsor. If you come in to Falmouth which I'm pretty sure is where Oasis docks, there is a large shopping center right at the pier.
  15. I agree, for a long while, I stopped getting emails, called RCCL, everything was as it should be, went in online and removed my email, added my email multiple time, nothing, then all of a sudden, here they came. I'm a IT guy, that is what I do for a living and I don't get it, it's like Operations, Marketing and the Web groups, don't work together. If I've already booked a cruise, booked my shore excursions, booked my specialty dinning, VOOM, Spa, etc., then don't send me emails asking me to book all of that again, going so far as listing my cruise details. I just booked travel for a trade show in Vegas, but didn't book my hotel through the trade show because I wanted my loyalty points, as soon as I cancelled the hotel through the trade show and booked it direct the trade show started sending me emails, saying "Hey" you don't have a hotel booked dummy, better book one or else. These emails I get..
  16. I'm with DocLC, I used to bring suites, ties the whole ensemble, but as weight restriction came in to play on airlines I now leave the suite and tie at home and bring nice slacks and button down shirts. I have dress restrictions at work, but it doesn't really impose on me during a cruise to dress nice. I mean, I have either been on deck all day or on an excursion so I'm hot and sweaty, so I clean up and but on clean clothes for dinner. Now don't get me wrong, usually after dinner and walking around people watching I usually go back and throw some shorts on so I can go to the casino and lose some money. I have always had one unspoken rule since I watched the dress code changing on the ships, I told myself that I might dress casually but that I would never wear shorts to the MDR, I thought I was going to have to break that on this last cruise because one piece of luggage hadn't showed up by later in the afternoon, no worries it finely showed up. I was also pleasantly surprised that when we went to dinner (Liberty OTS, May 28, 2017), it didn't matter if it was MDR or specialty dinning, everyone was dressed a minimum of what I would call smart business casual, the whole cruise. even when people were probably running low of options on the last night.
  17. On the Oasis class ships it has been.
  18. Liberty OTS, Went to WJ on the first day, after we had explored a little while, walked around could not find any honey stung chicken (I think that's the name I've read on here) anywhere on the buffet, stopped a guy with a big chef's hat on and asked him about it and he looked at me like I was crazy, told him it was supposed to be a RCCL staple in WJ on embarkation day (Only in WJ) and he still looked at me like I was crazy. So I would say that Honey stung chicken is starting to disappear, as I've seen stated on this blog. WJ was amazing all week, everything was really fresh and well stocked, I think I remember one day that one side was out of bacon but the other side was completely full I wrote about this yesterday, because I remember seeing post of people complaining, the coffee on Liberty OTS was not weak, I think you might have been able to stand a spoon up in it, and fresh, one day the attendant was walking around re-filling everyone's cup at the tables and it was so fresh and hot I couldn't drink it for about 10 minutes.
  19. WAAAYTOOO, just got back from our May 28th cruise on Liberty OTS out of Galveston, nobody ever cancelled a suite, so no suites opened up, but the Junior was just fine (Amazing cabin steward), anyway, used your suggestions in the Casino, went the first night and introduced ourselves to the Casino Manager and host (did not tell them we wanted to be rated, but did tell them we were not big gamblers), they already had a casino credit voucher available for us the first night (Very small from our 2016 cruise action), we continued to go by every night and made sure we said high and had a short conversation with them. Went by the last night and they had another voucher for us. We did not gamble enough for a free cruise but received a small dollar voucher. Called today and booked a cruise through Casino Royal and it was definitely cheaper than the current discount through the normal avenue or "Next Cruise", I felt like the agent gave us an amazing deal actually, got our suite this time. I had to put the cruise under my wife's name because she lost and won more than I did on this trip, she hit one machine big twice. Did book a Sky/Star loft suite on Allure in January of 2019 (Next Cruise on-board this cruise) , did not get the 2 bedroom Aqua theater suite because my kids could not make up their minds, so I booked this suite so I could get the Genie and told my kids, this is when I'm going, the ship and dates, if you want to join me great, if you don't we'll pick another cruise that will work, LOL, love my children... Thanks for all your help with Casino Royal...
  20. We were just there last week, June 2nd, and can echo the same experience above, I don't drink but my wife does, I was supplied with cold bottled water all day, never had to ask, food was amazing, the taxi summons by the waiter was the least painful I have experienced in the Caribbean, by the time we told the waiter we were ready to leave the taxi had already arrived before we could get everything put back up in our travel bags. Can't reference the baby, we were kid less (Grand parents). My understanding is the Mr. Sancho's is the party place and Nachi Cocom is the quieter more laid back beach...
  21. cruise-y, sorry it's taken so long to get back with you, I got back off the Liberty on June 4th, but work and Little League baseball have gotten in the way. Alas, I didn't remember to take pictures of the MDR menus, mostly because we didn't eat in the MDR much, we had per-purchased a 3 night dinning package per-cruise. I will report that the menus looked the same to me, I don't think any of the new menus have made it to Liberty yet. With that said I thought the food quality was excellent, I had the Prime Rib, the chicken and the fish pasta, all was fresh, correctly cooked and the presentation was excellent, the only complaint I might have was, 1 side dish, they served those blanched or steamed green beans and they were tough, but I don't like green beans that way so maybe that had a lot to do with it (I still ate them) we did the MTD, I made reservations and never had to wait, the 2nd formal night looked a little scary because we were late, but I used my Diamond status and got in immediately. We also ate at Sabor, Chops, and Giovanni's and the food was excellent, we liked Sabor so much we went back on the last night. We used Windjammer for breakfast and lunch and never had any issues, it was never that packed, the food was fresh and well presented, and I have to give a "Job well done" to the pastry chef on Liberty, out of the last 4-5 cruises I have taken, the pastries were the freshest, most moist and favorable I have had. To give you an example, those little cinnamon rolls that they have for every breakfast, sometimes as the week goes on they become hard and are not moist (Little hockey pucks), the whole week on Liberty they were amazing and moist with great flavor. We did not eat at Johnnie Rockets, Ice Cream once at Ben and Jerry's, and Pizza once from Sorrento's. Cookies multiple times from Sorrento's and Cafe Promenade, no Cupcake Cupboard. I also need to comment on the coffee, I remember reading some post on here that RCCL was making it weaker, well the coffee on Liberty was not weak, and I'm not taking about specialty coffee either, I got my coffee from Windjammer or Cafe Promenade and I had to weaken it so it wouldn't keep me up all night. I don't drink so I cannot comment on the bar service or clubs, we did go every night to the Diamond lounge so my wife could get a glass of wine before dinner. This diamond lounge was very clean, well run, well stocked and bar service was excellent. The people attending seemed friendlier and more engaging that other Diamond lounges. Top tier event was interesting, top 3 Pinnacle's were 1445 cruise points, 1300'ish, and 1025, sorry I'm terrible with names and didn't catch them. There was one gentleman that we talked to that has been living on Liberty for the last year, but the Cruise team did not point him out even though he did attend. Overall, I was very pleased with the ship, in areas you can tell she is going on 10 years, but all other areas looked amazing. The shows were all really good, the first one "Up in the air" (I think) was short but very entertaining, Saturday Night Fever was also well presented. My cruise was sold out, so we were full, I would recommend getting to the shows 15-20 minuets early, otherwise all of the good seats will be gone. I had to watch the comedian from behind a pole. Shore excursions all went well (None through the ship), Roaton, we booked a private tour with Victor Bodden, Costa Maya, booked a private beach, Maya Chan, when we got to the pick up we were greeted by a very plea sent young lady that proceeded to tell us and show us on a iPad that the beach was over run by sea weed and that it was ugly and smelled bad, and if we didn't want to go they understood and we would receive an immediate credit to our Credit Card. We had dealt with this sea weed problem before in Mexico and it was not fun. In Cozumel we went to Private beach Nachi Cocom, very clean and very well run. Cabin Steward, Erike from Honduras was exceptional, after the first day, never saw him except to say hello or good bye in the hall way, this is the way I prefer it, he got our schedule down the first day, I made one surprise trip to the cabin after we had left because I forgot something for Next Cruise, and he didn't recognize me because of a baseball cap and sunglasses on and would not let me in until I showed him my Sea pass card, very sound security poilcy. Hope I haven't broken any rules with this length.
  22. Fair warning, these were not booked through the ship: Barcelona - Barcelona Day tours, awesome tour, took the whole day, but arrived a day early for this purpose. Palma de Mallorca - Didn't do a tour, but walked around the castle as mentioned above, other cruisers went on an underground cave tour and said it was one of the best they had ever done. Marseilles - stayed on ship, but heard the beaches and Fjord (Called something else in France) were amazing. Florence - Private tour, Rome Private Tours Rome - Group tour, Rome Private Tours, Vatican you have to go, pre-buy your tickets Naples - Group tour, Rome Private Tours, Amalfi Coast you have to see this, Pompi, I could have done with out this part but it was included, I may have just been really tired. Found out most of these through CC and joined group tours through CC as well.
  23. NP, I will try and remember, when I get on the ship I go in to island time (Cruising time) and don't keep my cell phone with me, which is what I take pictures with, I will try and get the wife to carry the regular camera. We have the 3 night dinning package so the plan is to do Chops, Giovanni's and Sabor, and go to the MDR on MTD the rest of the nights. I already have the MTD dinning reserved through the cruise planner for the nights needed, but I'm hoping that if we are running late one night that my Diamond status will help on wait time. Excursions: Roaton - Victor Bodden private island tour and horse back riding Costa Maya - Maya Chan private beach Cozumel - Nachi Cocom Cabin class is Junior suite on the ninth floor 9258, which is a little more forward then I like, I tend to stay midships, I normally book a Grand suite, but I booked this cruise late and they were sold out and nobody has cancelled, I like the junior suites but you lose the suite perks, being Diamond makes up for some of them, being on Freedom class verses an Oasis class the suite perks fall off a little (No Coastal Kitchen). I will report back.
  24. Or s power anything, lucky we get to keep our cell phone chargers...
  25. Go to the Cruise Compass section above and see if you can find a cruise compass for your ship on a recent sailing date. If not reply back with your ship and cruise date and someone might have a cruise compass. There are not any web sites that I'm aware of, except on the Oasis class ships, you can go in to your cruise planner approximately 60-75 days before your sail date and reserve tickets to the shows, I'm not sure on the Quantum class, I've never been on one of those.
