New renders have appeared that show the H2O Zone onboard Royal Caribbean's newest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas.

The renderings show the water play area that is sure to be frequented by plenty of kids onboard.

Based on these renderings, there appears to be at least two kids water slides in addition to the play area comprised of fountains, sprayers and buckets.

Last month Royal Caribbean announced Harmony of the Seas would also have three water slides and a giant 10-story slide.

Harmony of the Seas is being worked at STX France shipyard. She is the third Oasis-class cruise ship.

Tip of the hat to Matthew Brand for finding and posting these renderings.

Possible Royal Caribbean 10-story slide design on Harmony of the Seas revealed

In:
04 Aug 2015

A new design schematic has emerged that appears to show the layout and configuration of the 10-story slide coming to Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas.

Photo posted by Bente Borvik

No word from Royal Caribbean yet as to if this slide design is the real deal.

The slide, known as The Abyss, will be located on the aft of Harmony of the Seas and based on this design, descend from the FlowRider deck to the Boardwalk.

In addition to the design, we are hearing The Abyss may not be a water slide, but instead a "dry slide", similar to a slide you would find at a playground.

Royal Caribbean announced the 10-story water slide in July 2015 but has not officially released any other details other than the name.

Harmony of the Seas is the third Oasis class cruise ship that is currently under construction and will debut in Spring 2016.

Tip of the hat to Lloyd Marchand for alerting us to this new design.

4:44pm UPDATE: Blog reader Ola found the Royal Caribbean Sweden web site has this rendering posted. Thanks Ola!

Royal Caribbean will add a 10 story water slide to Harmony of the Seas

In:
16 Jul 2015

Royal Caribbean's third Oasis class cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas is getting a 10 story water slide added to it known as The Abyss.

At a media event in New York last night, Royal Caribbean revealed the names of the water slides that we knew about for Harmony of the Seas, and announced there would be a fourth water slide that is 10 stories tall, named the Abyss.

Royal Caribbean had announced in February that Harmony of the Seas was getting three water slides added to the ship's Pool and Sports Zone, which was a first for Royal Caribbean.

The three slides together will be known as the The Perfect Storm, with each slide called Cyclone, Monsoon and Typhoon. These three slides are about three decks in height.

In addition, Royal Caribbean announced last night a fourth water slide known as The Abyss, which will be ten-stories tall and will start at the top of the AquaTheater and bring guests down to the Boardwalk.

UPDATE: Royal Caribbean has released new renderings of The Perfect Storm slides.

Everything we know about Harmony of the Seas' water slides

In:
30 Jun 2015

If there is one feature aboard Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas that has guests really excited, it's the water slides that will be a first for Royal Caribbean. These are the first real water slides on a Royal Caribbean ship and it promises to be a beacon for families looking for some high-paced fun.

Understandably, there is a lot of intrigue regarding this new feature and people want to know what the water slides will entail and what to expect.  Here's everything we know about the water slides in one place.

How many water slides will there be?

Royal Caribbean is adding three multi-story slides that will be above Central Park.  The slides are called The Perfect Storm: Cyclone, Monsoon, Typhoon.

UPDATE 7/15: There will also be a 10 story dry slide on the aft of Harmony of the Seas, known as The Ultimate Abyss. It will take guests from the ship's AquaTheater to Boardwalk neighborhood and is not a water slide.

Are there any special features to the water slides?

One of the water slides will feature a champagne bowl that swirls riders around as they approach the end of the slide.

There’s also a bar overlooking the slide bowl, so people can watch that.

The water slides will start with a clear acyclic section, so other passengers can see people as the start at the top.

There will also be racing slides.

Where will the water slides be located?

The water slides will begin on a platform elevated above the ship’s bridge level, and end in runouts.

The slides descend three decks through a series of twists and turns over the ship’s tree-lined Central Park neighborhood 10 decks below.
