Club Royale Explanation

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I have seen various topics on this page regarding the Club Royale offers in the casino but I am still a bit foggy on a few of the details so I am looking for some help. I understand all of the tier rewards and that aspect but the instant rewards and next cruise booking is where I am struggling! So at 1200 or 1500 points (Ive seen both numbers) you get a bonus cruise WITH a next cruise booking. So would that mean I need to go book and pay for a next cruise booking and then receive the free cruise certificate or can I use the free cruise certificates for a next cruise booking. Thanks for all the help!

For 1200 pts you will receive an instant reward certificate for $300 off a cruise. If you purchase a Next Cruise certificate before the end of your cruise you are eligible for a comped cruise in an interior cabin. There is a relatively short list you can select from.

For 1500 pts your instant reward will be a comped interior from a slightly longer list. If you purchase a Next Cruise certificate you will receive $100 in freeplay on your selected cruise.

The reward certificate will be delivered to your cabin the day before (or day of) the end of the cruise. If you earned enough points for the booking bonus, there will be a Next Cruise form attached. You need to fill it out and return it by the last night of the cruise. You can always go to the host desk on the last day and ask them to print the reward certificate.

The offer code for the instant reward will be in your Club Royale account when you return from your cruise. There will be a link to see what cruises you are eligible for. When you call Club Royale to book your cruise they will ask for a Next Cruise reservation number so they can apply the booking bonus.

Here's the instant reward levels and Next Cruise booking bonus:

If you reach the casino milestone for earning an instant cruise certificate you need to have the NextCruise future cruise certificate in order to exercise and book the "free" casino earned cruise.  If you don't acquire the NextCruise future cruise certificate onboard your only option would be to use the value of the instant reward as a discount applied against a cruise.  The value of the discount isn't nearly that of a cruise, especially these days, so you don't want to miss out acquiring the NextCruise future cruise certificate.  The NextCruise future cruise certificate is the key to leveraging the instant reward casino certificate for an actual "free" cruise.

I keep using "free" in quotes because you have to pay the port fees and taxes per person just like any cruise you book.

The casino instant reward cannot be used to pay for the NextCruise future cruise certificate.  That must be paid for using a credit card.  It's $200.  That $200 is later applied towards the "free" cruise, usually covering port fees and taxes or maybe prepaid gratuity if you choose to prepay them.  If the port fees and taxes are less than $200 then any difference is refunded so you don't lose anything from the $200 investment of a NextCruise future cruise certificate.  As a solo cruiser I often don't meet the $200 so I usually get something refunded.  I prepay gratuity so my refund is less but my gratuity is paid for.

Just today after last night's momentum in the casino I dropped by NextCruise to acquire a future cruise certificate using my credit card on file for the cruise to pay the $200 charge for the NextCruise future cruise certificate.

I waited until today because I wasn't sure if my luck would carry me into a instant reward cruise certificate.   As I sped my way to 600 points I was planning to go far enough to get a casino discount reward such as $250 off a cruise.  As I played on my luck continued.  Eight hundred points became nine hundred points and subsequently eleven hundred points.  At some point I sensed victory and decided to push on towards twelve hundred points.

With more than 1,200 casino points earned on this cruise I knew last night I would visit NextCruise today to pay for the future cruise certificate with my credit card.

The cruise isn't over and my twelve hundred may become fifthteen hundred points or more, depending if my casino luck continues, or not.  Regardless I am ready having acquired a NextCruise future cruise certificate.

Don't feel alone.  It's an unnecessarily weird process.

If I recall, at 1500 points, it's an automatic complimentary cruise so you don't HAVE to have a NC booking....but if you want the Free Play ($100 at that point, I believe) and the OBC, you will still need one.

For those categories below 1500 points (800, 1000, 1200) you will need a NC Open booking in order to qualify for the complimentary cruise (and not just the $$ off).  This will also get you some OBC if I recall.  At those lower levels there is no free play.

So the rule of thumb that we are going by these days is....if we are playing and expect to garner at least 800 points, you will need a NC Open booking.  These are MUCH easier to get than they used to be.  You can even get them via the app these days.  I usually drop by the NC desk, grab one of the NC open booking papers, fill it out at some point prior to disembarking and drop it off in the box that they provide.  So far, we have never failed to get a NC booking made by the time the cruise is over.  This is one of the few things that seem to be working well with the casino program.

Just remember that if you want the Free Play and OBC you MUST have a NC open booking.  Those 2 "perks" are functions of the NC cert, NOT the casino comp.

Great thanks! So the best thing to do is on embarkation day check the list of available cruises and see if going for the reward is worth it for what sailings work with my schedule? And if it is then I would place the next cruise opening Booking, obtain the points and get the certificate in the casino, then call upon my return to apply the casino certificate to the booking I made? I apologize again for the questions I want to try and maximize my value because I cruise somewhat frequently and gamble too. Thanks again for all the help!!

Does the reward levels for points (1200 points and up) on a cruise change for 3 or 4 night cruises? I saw this same form above at the casino host desk on my 8 night cruise. Didn’t know if they are lower on shorter cruises.

Never assume everything on the list is actualy available. A cruise can sell out or all casino comps can get booked.

Make sure there are a couple that are appealing.

Rewards are different when earned on short versus longer cruises.

Here is the current for July 2024 rewards from Icon 7 night as I sail on the ship.

Note the C in the date code 2407C.  A is used for shorties

https://www.royalcaribbean.com/content/dam/royal/resources/pdf/casino/offers/2407A.pdf

These URLs won't last forever, they are this months rewards.

Don't assume any cruise on any list is still available.  Folks like me and other Casino Royale players are booking stuff all the time.  Inventory is not endless. There are limits on casino comps for each ship and sail date.

I was going to point out what @twangster said. Do not assume because it is on that list, it is available. My last cruise. Freedom in May, my mother wanted to earn a cert for Alaska, which was listed on the 1200pts. Since we were B2B2B, I called on the second leg, all they had were JS and I would need to pay $4100 for it. The general rule is if it is a popular destination/large ship/close-in sailing, the odds are slim.

The types of cruises offered change by length. C is for cruises over 6N and A is for cruises 5N or less. So if you are on a 3/4N it would be 2407A07 for the 1200pts, which may have better offers than if you have code 2407C07, this is because it is harder to earn those points on a shorter cruise.

Ok thank you that clears that up! I am on Symphony for a 7 nighter in 2 weeks so I Would be looking at codes with “C” ? I would think that these lists would be significantly different by then anyway but that at least helped me with the layout and what to look for! I appreciate the help

Also I forgot to ask this, I am relatively close to Prime and will cross over this cruise, I wont get my annual cruise certificate until sometime in April when the “new year” starts and at that time will they provide me with a list of sailings that are applicable to that offer? I assume there are more sailings offered for the annual cruise but if I am incorrect on that please let me know! Thanks again!!

Yes, the 7 night cruises fall under the "C" code. I don't think the lists really change during the month.

They provide you with a list of excluded cruises and ships. Otherwise, any cruise up to 7 days is available. This year they excluded all Icon cruises. The list of other excluded cruises covered mostly the holidays. I've attached the list of cruises excluded for Prime level in 2024.

Don't forget that as soon as you hit 2500 points you can start receiving the other Prime benefits. Go to the host desk and they will verify your new status and will put a Prime sticker on your SeaPass card. That will entitle you to free drinks in the casino while it's open and a discount on the internet.

Awesome thank you so much! This was incredibly helpful. So, I would then receive my voucher (as long as I reach prime) next April when the year resets for 2025 cruises and would be provided a list similar to this one with excluded dates?

Yes, the offer code for your Prime cruise will appear in your Club Royale account along with a link to the list of excluded cruises.

This year, they staggered the release of the offers, giving Masters and Signature members first crack at booking their free cruise. Prime members were also staggered based on their point level.

Thank you for this amazing explanation.  I do have one question I am wondering if you may know the answer too.

I just recently got off a cruise on Utopia (Amazing by the way!!) and received a 1200 point offer, which includes some interior/oceanview free sailings with a next cruise.  I did not book next cruise on the ship and understand it can only be done on a ship.  HOWEVER - I am going on another cruise, on a different ship (Still Royal of course) BEFORE the current instant cruise cert offer expires.  If I get then next cruise bonus $200 paid while on board of my next cruise, can I use it on an offer from a previous sailing (since it hasn't expired)?

Cheers!

I want to say ymmv but I think no will be the answer. I used a NC booking made on a 3 night sailing for the cert earned under the following 4n sailing. I was able to do this because of it being a B2B2B and the sailing wanted from the 1200pt list was sold out. But the rep made it seem like the only way she could do this was because I was on the same ship and purchased the NC booking before the cert was issued. Since it will be a week or more after the cert was issued, there may be an issue.

Yes.  They just need a next cruise booking number to associate with the certificate redemption.

Oh that's interesting.  I've never had a problem in the past but I think I've only ever done it once or twice.  I didn't think they checked anything other than if the next cruise booking was within the 30 day OBC bonus window, which shouldn't affect the casino FP/stateroom bonus, and the certificate wasn't expired.
Maybe the rules for 1200 pt lists are different?

Also for anyone reading this thread, if you get a 1200 pt or higher offer ALWAYS* purchase a next cruise booking before you get off the ship, even if you don't think you're going to use it (*Unless you know with 100% certainty you would never use it and that fact would never change).  I'll always just purchase it through the app as soon as I hit 1200 points so I don't forget.

Worst case, you just redeem it for any cruise on the list before the expiration.  I can usually find at least 1 that could work if all the stars aligned just right, or as a backup to an existing reservation, or one that has a higher level cabin or more FP.  But even if there is literally nothing it's still worthwhile for the chance you can find one.

Then sometime before the cruise departs, call and cancel and you'll receive a full refund since all the money from the next cruise deposit has gone to taxes and port fees.  I've personally had to do this a few times when the stars didn't align.  Obviously there is the extra work of calling to cancel and tracking your refund, but I think it's worth it to guarantee you don't miss out on a comp (or extra FP / upgraded room).
