pheenix99
For the rooms with a virtual balcony screen, do the screens show anything beyond a balcony view? Call me crazy, but I think I would prefer a virtual submarine view.
twangster
It’s a fixed view from a camera mounted on the bridge. Ryan79
Traveling Mike
Here is my review of what you get to see. I was not impressed. I set the video below to skip to the 2:20 time to see the VB.
pheenix99
I'm certain alternate views is well within the realm of possibility from a technology perspective. Maybe that's something that we'll end up seeing some day.
monctonguy
We had it once on Navigator..I was surprised at the difference it made and it was nice having the view outside.....but this was coming from someone who had never booked a balcony cabin before...so my expectations weren't high... Brando95
I had one on my Anthem Canada/NE cruise and will on my Hawaii -> Vancouver repositioning. It's nice to see what it's like outside without having to turn on the bridge channel on the TV. My only wish is that along with the superimposed balcony railing that they'd provide a digital temp in the corner or something. It's nice to have to make an inside cabin not feel so cave-like. jeffmw
We had a virtual balcony on a cruise last year. I loved it. My family really didn't dig it as much. I just felt, with an interior room, it was nice to have some view of what's going on outside. Obviously a balcony is better, but so is a 2-story suite. You get what you pay for. I found myself turning it on every time I came into the room just to have a sense of outside and feel less closed in, especially during the day. Skippy67
On Navigator, having a Virtual Balcony means the sofa is replaced by a single seat. I've avoided it ever since and have no regrets.
Smokey79
There is so much potential to a cabin with this system. Too bad RC is only giving it a half effort.
letscruise
One of our rooms on Anthem recently was a virtual balcony and I wasn't impressed. By the time the sun set, it's just a big black fuzzy screen. We would pull the curtain b/c it's pretty distracting to look at. Going forward, I'm not sure I would pay more for a virtual balcony vs. a simple interior room.
smokeybandit
Since they didn't put these on Icon I guess the general feedback was poor. letscruise
