mlangsam
Are there unobstructed areas without glass on the upper deck to photograph glaciers on Quantum of the seas?
Cactus527
Absolutely. I don't mean to sound condescending, but if you're standing up, you'll have unobstructed photos to your heart's content. The glass barriers are just about armpit high and no taller. Ryan79
wordell1
I would recommend the two outside areas that are accessible from the solarium. There are glass panels, but you can use the spaces in between for photos.
twangster
The glass is higher towards the middle forward area but is lower middle area. When Q class first visited Alaska I was curious how it would work out. I spend a lot of time outside taking in Alaska. The higher glass towards forward turned out to be a blessing blocking the cold wind when the ship is moving. There are large gaps in the high glass sections, large enough for a big lens to fit through.
CrznTxn
Ditto on @twangster comments on the forward glass on Quantum class ships. Spent hours with lenses stuck between the panes of glass, heavy coat and gloves. Fellow next to me stuck his suction cup GoPro next to me and went back inside. Got lots of great pics but with suffering in the cold I envied his ingenuity and debated who had the best shots.
RCVoyager
FYI... off topic, but also relevant. The Carnival Mardi Gras (and its sisters too presumably) has no public spaces anywhere on the ship with less than 5 foot high glass and a double rail. It is another reason to never book that ship.
