Paying for your cruise

We are looking at going on our first cruise in 2024. I have been told to only pay the deposit incase a cheaper rate would be available later it can be reduced to that rate instead of paying full and being locked into that price. Is there any truth to this?

It's true.

You can pay the deposit now, and if there is any price drop between then and the day of final payment, you can re-price and get the new, lower price. If you pay in full, you can usually get a refund or on board credit but it's not a guarantee.

It’s MUCH easier for both you and Royal to get a refund on the reprice difference if you do NOT pay in full before the due date.

We have never seen a significant price decrease but we book early and pick our location. So don't assume price will go down, but check to see if it does and use a good Travel Agent.

I have 7 cruises booked right now and all of them are paid in full.  I know there are 4 of them the price will not go down because they are studio balconies and those were booked when the cruise was opened and filled within weeks.  The others might go down and from my experience I can get refund or onboard credit for the difference.  I like to have my cruises paid in full, it just makes me feel better.  It would be easier if I left some unpaid when the price goes down but they always seem to work with me and my travel agents.
