sunset1031
Cruising to Alaska next month. Starts in Seattle and ends in Vancouver. I am from California. Do I need to bring my passport or passport card will do? Thanks.
steverk
Bring the passport. I've tried using the card on sailings before. It was hit and miss on being able to board. It's not worth the risk.
Ryan79
Bring the passport. The card will NOT let you fly from Canada to the US. It’s only good for land and sea crossings between the two countries. The only flights that is accepted for is domestic flights. This is from the State Dept’s website. DunkelBierJay
If you get stuck in Vancouver with a passport card only, you would need to take a bus, train or one-way car rental back to the US. You can't fly.
twangster
I have both and I always travel with both. I'll often use the card to check in and to show at the port. The card is more durable and by using the card I can keep the passport book stored away in a safe place. However I always have the book with me just in case. A few years ago I had to leave a cruise early when a family member passed away. Without the passport book I would have had to finish the cruise to get home.
