NORFOLK, VA PORT

Recommended Posts

I wonder if it's a situation where Royal isn't planning on homeporting a ship in Norfolk yet, but is exploring their options with a limited amount of their vessels that can sail from Baltimore? So maybe Royal's made a visit and talked with people, however, there's not an immediate plan concerning the port over the next couple of years.

The cruise port in Norfolk is shutting down in 2024 to make improvements.  Currently, Carnival Magic cruises weekly from Norfolk, May through October.  Starting in 2025 Carnival Sunshine will cruise from Norfolk year round.  As we live within walking distance of the port, my family (husband, daughter, two teenage grandsons) recently cruised on Magic and determined that Carnival is a one and done for us.  If Royal Caribbean decided to add Norfolk as a departure port we would be very happy!

Wavy10 (local news station) report on the cruise terminal enhancements. Basically, the terminal was designed for being a port-of-call and the occasional embarkation/debarkation and not as a regular homeport. So enhancements are needed for Carnival to homeport a ship there.
