Kesti
Hello, First time cruiser here...my family and I are fully vaccinated. However, my teenager daughters just received their booster shot within the last week. We cruise in 5 days--do you know if that will be a problem, even though they are fully vaccinated? I read on the RCL website that you could not sail if less than 14 days since your last vaccine. Does this include boosters? Thank you! MaryCS62
Right now, "fully vaccinated", according to Royal is the single J&J shot, or the 2 shot Moderna or Pfizer (for US clients, don't know what the international equivalent is). Since they are eligible for a booster, that means their initial series is more than 2 weeks prior to sailing, so you should be fine. Hopefully the booster will give them even more protection while you are cruising Kirsten and Kesti
leesam82
Hello and welcome! I believe that the 14 day requirement is for your last dose of vaccine and not the booster. The only thing I would say that could affect your daughter would be side effects while on board. I know for myself shot # 2 and the booster took a toll on me a few days in. Kesti
Thanks so much, MaryCS62! I just ended a call with RCL and they confirmed the same. Does not matter when a booster is given, in the US. MaryCS62
Kesti
Thanks, leesam82. My girls did well with their booster--hoping it gives us some extra protection on the ship. Thanks again!
Levi is good
You can get the booster shot at any point, even walking onto the ship as I understand it. The 14 days thing is for being fully vaccinated with the 2-shot series (or 1 shot if J&J).
smokeybandit
The date they care about is for your first series when you first became "fully vaccinated" Booster isn't relevant except for some European port stops. That said if and when boosters do play a part, there is no 14 day period for a booster. You're considered boosted the minute the shot is in the arm. AshleyDillo
It's 14 days post 2nd shot. Now when the port worker looks at her vax card, they may need to take a second look. A lot of times they just look at the last date on there and do the math and then realize it's the booster they're looking at
