Phillip A.
We're booked for Oasis of the Seas 7/9/16. Our balcony stateroom is on deck 11. But, this is our first cruise and we are concerned about sea sickness. So we are considering a balcony stateroom on deck 8 or 9. Any preference on either be deck? Christie
8 is easier to get around because you can walk through Central Park to get forward/aft. 9 is all rooms
Phillip A.
Thanks! Any other deck 8 tips?
Matt
The theory goes that the lower and center on the ship you are, the less movement you will feel.

WAAAYTOOO
Phillip do you know for sure that you (or someone cruising with you ) have an issue with motion sickness or are you just being cautious ? I find a positive attitude about motion sickness goes a long way. I believe ( there are many who disagree, BTW) that if you THINK you are going to be seasick, then you WILL be seasick. Phillip A.
Do I know for sure? No, because this is my first cruise aside from a cruise to nowhere that went a couple miles off Fort Lauderdale beach. I get motion sickness easily, roller coasters, 3D attractions, I can't read or write while in a car without getting dizzy/nauseated. So at this point I'm trying to minimize the risk. I think being cautious is good. My wife is prone to motion sickness in rough seas or when there are high winds, but her queasiness has always been mitigated by moving midship. We had a really rough sailing to Norway and Iceland this past summer with waves crashing over our porthole and 70+ mph winds, but she always felt comfortable when we were in our midship cabin and it provided a nice retreat when the motion became too much in the gym or elsewhere where the movement was more noticeable. Phillip A.
Thanks for the info. We figure it's better to be safe than sorry. It looks like we will be be midship, deck 8. DocLC and JohnK6404
Christie
I've been on a lot of cruises and found the motion on oasis was pretty minimal so that's good! Phillip A.
Christie
The only problem with deck 8 is that you might eat 400 roast beef sandwiches from park cafe during the course of the week WAAAYTOOO and bobroo

Jerel
Aside from the less motion, Central Park looks like a great place to hang out. And the Promenade isn't too many stares either, or you could just take the rising bar.
Christie
Definitely the only way to get between 8 and 5 is to ride the rising tide bar down 👠Matt

Phillip A.
Wait, wait, wait.... So I can deck hop via the rising tide? I can grab a drink in the name of convenience? RobWhatley

Christie
Wait, wait, wait.... So I can deck hop via the rising tide? I can grab a drink in the name of convenience? Yep, but you can only get off at 5 or 8. Takes about 5 min to go up or down and then hangs out for a few minutes before starting again. Also, no frozen drinks at this bar :( Phillip A.
monorailmedic
Wait, wait, wait.... So I can deck hop via the rising tide? I can grab a drink in the name of convenience? Say hi to my wife when you do this as I don't expect to find her elsewhere on the ship. "It goes between different parts of the ship AND it's a bar?!" Now I just have to worry about her getting lost. Entering on one deck in the morning then exiting on another 12 hours later could really confuse things.
