  1. Ship: Quantum of the Seas - Easter sailing Room: Grand Loft Suite with genie Yen Itinerary: Brisbane > Noumea (New Caledonia) > Mystery Island (Vanuatu) > Port Vila (Vanuatu) - 8 nights Who: Andrea, 43; husband Andrew, 43 and kids Jordan, 11 and Marcus, 8. This was our first ever cruise. We would definitely go again but only in Star Class (where are my fellow suite snobs at?). We flew from Melbourne to Brisbane at 8:00 with no delays, arriving just before 10:00. In an Uber on the way to port and found the Star Class banner by 10:30. A short delay behind the B2Bs but all checked in and through security with Pier genie Elliott by 10:45 where we met our genie Yen. Straight to Vintages after muster for a drink and run down with Yen to tweak the itinerary a little. We received white WOW bands instead of purple as they had run out of purple a couple of sailings back. Room was ready by 11:30 and full of snacks, drinks and bottle of Moët for sail away. Sadly the weather in Brisbane was dismal and was grey, gloomy and raining. We didn’t meet our room attendant until the evening. We had lunch at Coastal Kitchen which was very quiet before heading off to explore the ship before the crowds really kicked in. There were 4900 people on the sailing including 1300 kids. Due to the weather we didn’t taken many pics on embarkation day. We went back to the room for sail away which was spot on 4:30pm and then headed back to Coastal Kitchen for dinner. The line for the Windjammer went all the way to the stairwell. After dinner we headed to the headliner comedy show where Yen had drinks waiting for us. The comedy left a bit to be desired so we headed off early to get an early night. Day 2: First sea day was action packaged for us. Breakfast at Coastal (we didn’t set foot in the jammer or the MDR the whole time), bumper cars, rock climbing wall, ifly, suite sun deck, lunch, back to the sun deck, Star Class bridge tour then dinner at Jamie’s. Jamie’s was easily our favourite specialty restaurant, both the food and the service were top notch and there were lots of options for the kids. Our Jamie’s server ended up being our favorite person on the ship other than the genie. No show tonight as I didn’t think Sequins and Feathers would be appropriate for the kids. I read a lot of Australian naysayers saying that nobody dressed up for any of the themes nights. Garbage! Almost everybody was dressed up for formal night in some capacity and looked fantastic.
  2. We have purchased the UDP and have booked Jaime's and Chops for dinner on a few nights. Our friends want to join us on two of those nights. They do not have the UDP and are inquiring about the per person cost for each restaurant. Has anyone sailed on Quantum recently that could give me an idea of what the prices were looking like? Pictures of the menus would also be helpful. Thank you!
  3. It seems that the engine parts for the Alaska sailings in August and September on Quantum, will not be done on time. I just received an email From Royal that our itinerary for the Sept 12th Sailing from Seattle has been changed to new ports and times "Dear Guest, Due to speed limitations caused by a technical issue with one of the ship’s engines, we’ve replaced our visit to Skagway, Alaska and Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier. Instead, we’ll visit Ketchikan, spend more time in Juneau, and we’ll visit Sitka a day later. Your safety, and that of our crew, is always our top priority. Our ship has four engines, but one requires some repair and there’s a delay in receiving the parts needed. Additionally, another engine is scheduled for routine maintenance soon, which means we’ll have to reduce our overall speed. Our ships can safely sail in these kinds of situations at reduced speeds, and while we’re working to expedite the repair process, the global supply chain issues that we’re all experiencing are complicating this situation. The decision to modify our itinerary wasn’t taken lightly. We’ve done everything possible to minimize the impact to your time with us, and we’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience." Mon Seattle, Washington 4:00 PM Tue Cruising Wed Ketchikan, Alaska 7:00 AM 4:00 PM Thu Sitka, Alaska 8:00 AM 4:00 PM Fri Juneau, Alaska 7:30 AM 3:00 PM Sat Cruising Sun Victoria, British Columbia 5:00 PM 10:00 PM Mon Seattle, Washington 7:00 AM We previously had the Glacier Inside passage and Skagway in our itinerary. At least they are providing us with an onboard credit: $75 USD for Interior and Ocean View staterooms $100 USD for Balcony staterooms $200 USD for Suites" Hopefully this information helps anyone on this particular cruising and others in September. Although frustrating we have booked a glacier viewing excursion that hopefully will make up for the loss of the inside passage.
  4. Gonna try giving this a shot even though I've never done a live blog before. Please take it easy on me ?
  5. I know its 6 months away but I'm excited to sail with star class. We'll be on the Quantum of the Seas. One thing I'm hoping my assigned genie can do is arrange an in-suite dinner for my wife and I. Embarkation day is her birthday. Any suggestions on what to do? Also, how does the dinning work with star class? Can we basically eat wherever and whenever without incurring extra costs? Same thing for drinks or does the beverage package rules apply? Thanks in advance for sharing!
  6. There is a lighting tech that has been stuck on Quantum for the last several months. He is a pretty funny guy and talks about his situation and goes on tours of the empty ship. If you are interested in that kind of thing here is the first video in the series: Just thought I would pass it along. Something amusing to watch to pass the time. CT
  7. Very excited about this news! So excited that we changed our Serenade July 2021 sailing to the Quantum out of Seattle! This change leads me to wonder if QOS will receive a refurb/update besides the laser tag to appeal to the American market. Since this ship has been in the Asian market for quite some time, it has a noodle shop among other Asian specialties and interests. Does anyone have any idea? Heard anything? Granted, we will still be in the #teamCK crew as we will be Sky Class, but just wondering about some of the other offerings. So Psyched! Now, if we could get that intern to show up again! Thanks Sharla at MEI for making this happen!!
  8. Hello everyone, I am a new member here. I am booked for my first 5 nights Quantum of the Seas cruise which will be starting on 30 November. Can't wait for it and so I have trawled the internet and various blogs for information and advice. So far, this is the best website both in terms of depth of discussion as well as breadth of topics. Read that they will be adding an escape room and laser tag on Quantum too! ? Unfortunately, I have just found out about the royal suites class categories!
  9. Hi all, I’ve seen some details about the drydock with Quantum entered yesterday but I was wondering if anyone could add onto what I’ve seen? I’m aware that it’s simply a five year refurb and not a royal amplification, but I read that a laser game and an escape room were in store. What have you heard? Also, does anyone know of which broadway show will be on Quantum from next month onwards?
  10. Are any other English speaking people going on this 12 day cruise departing China 7th October 2019 and ending up in Singapore 19 October? This is my first time ever cruise. I received an email from Royal Caribbean to say that this is a cultural enriching cruise, yet my travel agent has been reassured by the cruise wholesaler that it is not. Having read some of the reviews about cultural enrinching cruises, how bad are they really and what is not included in the package. We are staying in a balcony stateroom. Some advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Does anyone know if you can request/pay for an upgrade to a suite (if any are empty) when boarding/checking in?
  12. Hi, I'm working on an academic paper about the technology used in the entertainment industry and I was looking at the Two70 degree venue on the Quantum of the Seas. Was wondering if anyone would be able to answer some questions for me?
  13. Royal Caribbean has replaced the Diamond Lounge on Quantum of the Seas with the so called "The Golden Room" - a Premium Player Program for High Rollers. Couches are replaced with gambling tables and the Diamond Lounge has been moved inside the Music Hall but this seems to be temporary since everything (buffet, Concierge desk) looks thrown in there ...
  14. MEYER WERFT now has the Quantum of the Seas "web cam" up and running. It's not a live cam, but a still posted about once a week. Web Cam 2 - Hall 6 http://www.meyerwerf...bcam/webcam.jsp
  15. With Quantum being built at Meyerwerft, its hard to miss all of the excitement going on with Norwegian right now, as Getaway has recently launched/had her first passengers on board, etc... I was watching a youtube video of Kevin Sheehan 'introducing' Getaway, and he was talking about the "waterfront" feature on the Breakaway/Getaway and said: "as a matter of fact, I know one of the ships thats about to launch is copying that" Do you think we should expect to possibly see a 'waterfront' on Quantum? After seeing pictures of the waterfront concept on Breakaway, it looks like a really cool feature.
  16. So what are everyone's thoughts on RCCL dropping Samana? I see the podcast cruise on the Quantum of the Seas was impacted. I have not been to Samana but always look forward to seeing a new port of call. I am also not sure how I feel about docking in Labadee the afternoon prior to our scheduled day in there. Looks like an extra day at sea and an overnight in Labadee?? Thoughts??
  17. Last Friday, Quantum of the Seas had her keel-laying ceremony, which means....construction of the ship has begun! More info: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2013/08/02/quantum-seas-holds-keel-laying-ceremony
  18. Royal Caribbean announced today the first member of the Quantum Experience Advisers program: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2013/09/09/royal-caribbean-using-hgtv-star-genevieve-gorder-help-design-quantum-of-the-seas Interesting way to generate buzz for the ship and ensure it looks hip and fresh.
  19. I was discussing with my wife today if Quantum of the seas will be the best Royal Caribbean ship they've made or if Oasis/Allure will retain the distinction of being the best.
