Never experienced a cancellation, but the cruise last year we spent the first night at the dock in Galveston. I didn't care as long as I was on the ship! However, being able to drive instead of fly means we will probably always consider Galveston and New Orleans as a possibility. If I had to fly, unless it was a lot cheaper, I'd probably hit somewhere in Florida...

I believe there's a Panama Canal itinerary  from Long Beach, CA to Galveston, TX through a different cruise line.

Doesn't always work. On last year's Liberty of the Seas cruise, we arrived early to board the ship.... Only to find out they were delayed by fog, and wound up sitting on the cold pavement for hours because Galveston Port Authority has no provision for storing luggage for us. The lesson learned is we don't leave the hotel unless we see the ship. But the line wasn't awful, either.

Galveston always has delays due to fog.  Best not to book any early flights on disembarkation day.

Just did a 5 night Feb 3 - 8 on Empress. There is no CL or DL. There was a sail away party for Diamond and up on the patio behind Bolero's. The Viking Crown was open for D+ and P from 5 - 8:30 PM daily. Had the regular 3 drinks loaded to the sea pass card daily.

That is the MSC Seaside in the background, had just gotten off that one and crossed the street for this one.

Pic is sail away from Miami at Bolers's

Planning to go on Empress in June.  Are they still offering complimentary mimosas or bloody mary's during brunch on sea days?  How was Voom on the ship?

I don't know I compared my last phones 20MP camera to the Samsung of the same gen (Can't remember which they gone through so many maybe 6 or 7) and my photos and video where much better and I was filming 4k before they could so I don't really believe that in my opinion but that's why I stick to the Chinese products. I mean 90% of the components are generic. But that's my opinion, the only way I will purchase Samsung is if someone pays for it and I will NEVER buy into Apple ecosystem again did that and had everything die within 2 years including a laptop. I love tech, I test a lot and often flip devices for what I pay for them since living in the Cayman Islands it costs people a lot to bring things in. I know @twangster trusts the names more (other post on routers.) But, I find the spec to value to name isn't worth it. Heck even big names like HTC and LG can have better phones for less. I remember getting a 3D phone from LG for free back when 3D TVs were the cool thing. But that my opinion and everyone has a preference just stating its not always what they tell you.

I have bought the OnePlus One when it first came out and most recently the OnePlus 5T.  So much more value for the money.  Love their Oxygen OS.  The OnePlus user community is very helpful as well.  I like how it has dual sim as I live in a border city.  Swapping Canada and US phone plans in less than a second.

Is it wrong that, knowing you're from Scotland, I mentally hear all of your posts spoken in either (depending on my frame of mind) Gerard Butler's, Henry Ian Cusick's, or Iain De Caestecker's voice?

At least you don't ever "play back" in my head as Scrooge McDuck. :4_joy:

I think they want the drinkers though. Alcohol alone would be profitable I am not sure a cover charge would be the best move in my opinion.

There are no other casual dining options on the ship that has a bar that easily accessible.  It will be interesting to see the buying behaviour data behind the patrons of Sabor.  Are they mostly passengers who already have the alcohol beverage package and RCCL is trying to squeeze a few more $$ out of those passengers?

I hope they keep Sabor still, maybe they will make that side of the boardwalk a small Sabor, the bar is in the centre of the boardwalk which leaves more room inside the venue. and a smaller playmakers and juggle the port side of the boardwalk around ..... hmmmmm

I can imagine watching sport with some Guac and chips mmmmmmmmmm

Playmakers could have Mexican food offerings as appetizers along with their gourmet burger menu.  Interesting to see if they will have a la carte pricing or cover charge.  With limited seating, cover charge will be a more profitable option. Can't have tables taken with only guac and chips being ordered.
