The best "Holiday" for us is when our kids are in school and its cheaper.

tkltomp reacted to DocLC in How early to arrive to shows?
As long as you get there before they open it up to this without reservations, you should be fine. I usually get there 15-20 minutes before showtime and didn't have an issue on Allure.

I used the luggage tags on Oasis a few weeks ago. I thought they were rigid enough.

Your right, brain fart. Been working on presentations for class all day and my mind is gone.

tkltomp reacted to michelle in Another medical evacuation off Ovation of the Seas
pamw -this is the biggest reason I tell older clients to get cruise insurance
Yes the PASSENGAR pays for the helicopter, and if they are not insured, and/or
do not have the credit on hand, they will not send a helicopter out - this does
happen. And yes it costs between $35,000 - $50,000 depending on where you
are for the flights.

I appreciate the honest opinions. Means a lot, and I think it goes a heck of a lot further than me mentioning them. Thank you to everyone who supports our sponsor, MEI Travel. It has a direct correlation to supporting this blog and what I'm trying to do.

tkltomp got a reaction from JLMoran in The Benefits of Using a TA
My TA (MEI's Jacki) automatically re-booked my Baltic 2018 Cruise on Navigator of the Seas during a recent sale and saved me $500 dollars. I found out about the sale from her re-booking notice. While booking the Cruise she recommended the Panoramic Ocean View, which I think we will like better than the more expensive Balcony we were considering.
Recently we had to move a B2B Cruise on Oasis from September to August and all it took was an email from me. Later that day all the re-booking was complete with no hassle to me.
I even booked a Disney trip through her, and it was much easier than digging through Disney's web site.

At the risk of sounding like I'm pandering to Matt , I would also recommend MEI. So far I've booked four Cruises and a trip to Disney.

tkltomp got a reaction from DocLC in Final Payment & Entertainment Scheduled
I found the "My Calendar" tab in the Cruise Planner to be quite helpful as well. It really lays-out the whole schedule.
-
tkltomp reacted to DocLC in Final Payment & Entertainment Scheduled
I keep a spread sheet for my cruise history so I can keep track of the number of ships we we've sailed, number of nights, cruise lines, ports, etc.

I often get asked about online reviews, like "I read so many negative reviews about ____ of the Seas". Positive or negative, take it with a grain of salt. Experiences are subjective, but I know it certainly makes anyone feel better to know everyone else enjoyed something.

Trans Pacific, Sydney to Seattle.

MEI is great. I have used them (Jacki) for RCL and Disney World.

tkltomp reacted to Matt in How early can I use the Cruise Planner tool?
I think this will answer your question: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2016/07/23/first-time-cruisers-when-can-i-prebook-entertainment-dining-and-more-my-royal-caribbean

tkltomp reacted to Matt in Extremely nervous
My kids are much younger than your daughter, but I seem to recall with teenagers, they have the ability to check themselves in and out of the Teen Club (unlike younger children).
My suggestion is at the very least to speak to the Adventure Ocean staff on embarkation day and get a clear understanding of what you are expecting.

The headline shows on Oasis are:
Oasis of Dreams Come Fly with Me Cats Here is when you can start making reservations: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2016/07/23/first-time-cruisers-when-can-i-prebook-entertainment-dining-and-more-my-royal-caribbean

tkltomp reacted to Matt in Payment for the cruise
I agree 100%. There is no reason not to use a good travel agent, especially when you are new. Let someone deal with these kind of billing issues!
-
tkltomp got a reaction from MikeK in Payment for the cruise
Try and get your reservation transferred to a Travel Agent, (MEI is really good) then you just work with your agent.
It really simplifies the process and the Agent can take care of lot of things for you, and for free.
