  1. The chocolate glazed donuts are surprisingly good! At least on SY they were.
  2. Yes, the price you booked is locked unless you make changes to it. Just like the cruise fare. If you make changes, you pay prevailing rates. The one thing I don't know is what happens if you cancel one person on the reservation before final. When I re-price Air2Sea for a lower rate, they always cancel the entire thing and re-book it. I think that is the way they do things. If you just cancel one person (like your son), I don't know how they process that. Or did you mean in your original post that you would cancel the whole thing if the university schedule doesn't work out?
  3. I am glad that you liked it! My kids are still talking about it lol
  4. Yes, Air2Sea reservations do not affect cruise fare. I have adjusted my Air2Sea price many times without the cruise fare being touched (and vice versa). The only link between the two is that on your booking confirmation, it shows up as a charge. Also yes. Just recently for our August LB cruise, I booked through Air2Sea both ways. But then I realized I still a little Delta e-credits that I still had to use up. I called back Air2Sea, cancelled and rebooked as one way only. No fee. No, but I did at one point use them for Air Canada. This was for Norway when we thought we wanted to fly out of Toronto. Anyway, for AC, they wouldn't let us pick seats because the booking was "not ticketed". I had to actually call AC directly and after some back and forth, they let me pick my seats. But it wasn't easy. It took some time on the phone. In the end, it was wasted because we ended up cancelling and booking with Delta out of DTW instead. That is likely true. While Air2Sea are linked, they (Air2Sea) cannot make changes to your cruise booking. You would have to call back your TA or Royal to do that.
  5. Friendly reminder to all those posting in this thread:
  6. Well…I am now the happy owner of the Weekender, the convertible weekender, the 21 inch roller, the Dopp kit, the cosmetics case, and my daughter just recently got the Backpack. I have a small Beis problem, I know. I also use the East to West tote for work lol
  7. This is huge! I realized I had way less anxiety for Symphony back in December as well for that very reason. Ugh! I feel your pain....
  8. I don't think so. I am always shocked at the number of suitcases some families pile on lol
  9. We have used the mostly carry on and only one checked bag strategy for many years now. It was that strategy that saved us last March when we did lose our luggage. This is what we take with 4 of us: 1 - large backpack per person (that is our personal item for the plane); I use my Beis bag instead of the backpack 1 - 21 inch rolling luggage per person (we carry this on the plane with us) 1 - 29 inch rolling luggage (shared between all) that we check, this one large suitcase carries our toiletries that are too large to carry on and Hubby/kid shoes, plus our formal/evening wear At the hotel, we re-organize a bit and we tag 3 suitcases (the 29 inch, and two 21 inch ones) with our cruise luggage tags to give to the porter. We only take on our backpacks/Beis bag and two 21 inch rollers. That way we are not dragging around as much when we wait for staterooms to open.
  10. My guess is that is exactly what it means... Ghandi is newer, but people like him. He spent some time on Spectrum (I think) before heading over here to North America.
  11. And to add to that, if you emailed her on Friday, well was Saturday a sea day for Oasis? Cause if so, she was likely busier than port days. Then Sunday was turnaround day which is always a zoo. I would never expect a response on turnaround day from a Genie. That leads us to today, which might be her first full day with her guests, so give it some time. Hope that helps.
  12. @Midwest Cruiser I would not read too much into it. Like others have said, some Genies are better at pre-cruise communication than others. It's not always an indicator of how good they are once onboard. My favourite Genie so far was not great at all with pre-cruise communication. And I have others who have responded back very quickly (within hours) and they weren't around too much once onboard.
  13. I saw that! I wondered why too. We all know that Intercontinental is the far superior of the two.
  14. Try messaging them on social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.). I find they respond a whole lot faster that way.
  15. Yes, you can most definitely have JR delivered. Shakes too. One of the things that Hubby and the girls like to do when we sail star is arrange for JR shakes and fries to be delivered to the room after a show, right before they close.
  16. Oh, you don't need to convince me! I know I cannot do any nights in the MDR. But I am on a mission to convince Hubby and the girls how good they have it since they always roll their eyes at me. Room service chicken wings is a personal favourite of mine. That will be my default on the really bad nights. You might even find me in the WJ
  17. I know! Definitely get the free photo. You get one and the Boss gets one too, so make sure you get both for full value (that's Hubby's tip lol) Other than that, I don't find as much value in the Diamond perks when sailing star. When you hit D+, the next best thing is the free bag of laundry, so that you can be reminded of your star days lol I have decided that if I ever make it back to London, this is a must do for me. Twice now, we have been to London and have not been able to catch it.
  18. Kathy, this blog is making me nervous for 9 nights on Liberty this coming August lol Hubby and kids always call me a CK snob and I told them it's MDR all the way on Liberty. But yikes! I would have tough time if my meals came out like yours.
  19. We have only done one SC so far without the kids. The vibe is most definitely different. Is there more value with families? I definitely think so. The one thing I did appreciate a lot when sailing star with just Hubby is the ability to really make use of the Genie and plan on a whim. With the kids and star, it is still a bit more structured because they want to do certain things. When it was just Hubby and I, we really put the "last minute planning thing" to the test and I loved it. There were nights where we decided only an hour or so before a show that we wanted to see it, or restaurants that we changed our minds on at the the last minute and we were accommodated for all of those. I also cannot complain about not having to share the suite with the girls. Would I do star with just Hubby again? For sure. Is it necessary? Not really. We are pretty content with Sky when it's just the two of us. We have Wonder coming up this July for our anniversary and I am not feeling a huge need to try for Royal Up like I did with Symphony for NYE with the kids.
  20. If you arrange it with your Genie ahead of time, it can usually be done. Or better yet, CK can probably make the spaghetti for you.
