  1. Brian, it was a post i saw about 3-4 days ago.. Someone on the 3 night SouthHampton Sailing on Ovation posted their experience. Besides what I told you they said that also everynight their Genie walked them to a restaurant and then came to get them when it was over so that they could personally walk them to the theater to see a show and the Genie already had reserved seats for them in the front row. The poster went on to say how much they loved the Star class and the Genie and she wished they were on for more than 3 nights... Then on CC Someone else is on Ovation right now and said when they get off they will do a report explaining everything so I am waiting to hear that.. So far everything sounds amazing to me and I just cant wait for my Harmony cruise.
  2. Brian, I cant wait for you to go on yoyr cruise and come back and tell us all about the Star Class and Genie service! I am sailing in Feb in Star class, actually happens to be the same sailing as Raye (Waaaytooo) So I cant wait.. I have been following on cruise critiic some people who were on Ovation and omg they were wowed right away.. The second they got to the pier the Genie was waiting for them with a big sign for their son that said happy birthday. Then the Genie walked them right on the ship and there was a huge birthday cake waiting for their son in the shape of a cruise ship it was so cool. When i go it will be a week after my fiance's birthday so we plan to celebrate on the ship and I hope they make him a huge cake like that! But again make sure you take alot of pictures and let us all know about the Star class and Genie's..
  3. When I was almost 10 in 1996 my family went on on a big Christmas family cruise. It wasn't on Royal it was actually on Costa before Carnival bought them. It was an old style ship with a huge main dining room and big huge midnight buffets. IT was an Eastern Caribbean cruise and i remember that first time I went to St. Thomas and thinking wow is this Ocean really beautiful. We all had a great time and ever since then I have been hooked and obsessed with cruises.. We tried out a bunch of different lines including Celebrity before Royal owned it but finally in 2005 I went on my first Royal Caribbean ship and I have never looked back
  4. Firegal, living in Florida is what helps me be able to cruise 3-4 times a year.. That air fare savings is key... except this year i will be flying to cape liberty for a 9 night Canada New england on Anthem..
  5. For me I love Oasis class because of the wonderful entertianment, food options, and large casino.. I think the shows on Oasis class and Quantum class are top notch and I cant wait for Harmony.. I am someone who likes specialty restaurants so for me i like that there are about 20+ restaurants.. and again the casino is the best in the fleet.. going on Oasis in 63 days...
  6. It's sad but the reason pricing is more for an accessable stateroom is probably because the room itself is bigger and so the cruiseline probably wants you to pay for the extra space you are using.. Now I do not know this as a fact and i think you should call a good travel agent. I recommend MEI the agency that sponsers this blog because they are really good. And I am sure they would be able to tell you why and what you should do.. Also you happen to be picking the oldest ship in the fleet where like you said there are going to be barley any accessable rooms because it was built in 1992. May I suggest you looking at enchantment of the seas which also does weekend cruises but is a little bit of a newer ship and might have more staterooms.. Again really i think you need a good travel agent.
  7. Dr Amy, you are not covered for Cupcake classes, and Cabana's on Labadee are not free or covered in the Star Class they range from $295-$495 depending on which one you pick. Ultimate Beverage Package is supposed to be included but who knows what will happen. I don't know what other special activities on the ship there are?
  8. Yea I only Had one once.. wasn't worth the cost. I am very happy with the "free" options
  9. Raye, but then how could your Royal Genie make you free "Hand Crafted cocktails" So much speculation it's driving me crazy! I wish Royal would just be clear for once
  10. I am sailing in STAR CLASS in Feb on Harmony.. So I am looking to see what everyone in the next coming months have to say... I am also an UBER planner and very nervous about just letting the Genie do everything for me.. So I cant wait to hear what people in the next coming months have to say
  11. Raye, everything you said is correct except cupcakes are not Free for anyone they cost about $2.50-$3.50... I think for the rest of their questions like prohabition event we might need to wait until May to see what they decide..
  12. I want that shirt!!! Come on Matt put it on spreadshirt or get DaBoys to sell it to us.. We need to represent as you said!
  13. The only reason I booked a 2 bedroom Aquatheater suite on Harmony was to experience the Star class.. So I am like 99.9% sure it qualifies
  14. Ahh Man, yes these perks don't start until May so yes you just miss out on the perks...
  15. Mheizer, click on the link that Todd provided to explain the new suite class benefits. Please note these benefits are only good for Oasis class ships and Quantum class ships and since you are going to be on an Oasis class ship they benefit you. So to answer your question no you do not need to buy an additional beverage package as your cruise fare comes with the best package you can purchase! I have a 2 bedroom Aquatheater suite on Harmony and I am very excited to be in the Star class and try out all the new benefits
  16. I get stuff from Club Royale in the mail. It just never happens to be what I am looking for... I just do better when I call club Royale and get rates for the ship and sail date I want.
  17. When I got asked to join Club Royale the host did infact have me sign a bunch of papers. However, Tony I think you gamble much more than I do so i have no idea how you weren't asked to join. There must be some mistake. I would give it another week and wait then call Club Royale back and state your case and see what they can do.. If that doesnt work on your next cruise make sure to right away go to Casino Host and say you want to join Club Royale and to please RATE you. I feel like those are the magic words.. I happen to call Club Royale yesterday and again they couldnt tell me about the new program except that no matter what tier you will be in you will still always qualify for Casino Rates.. This makes me happy since i will probably be in the lowest tier.
  18. We need Billy AKA MonorailMedic to weigh in on this because he has been on Oceania quite a bit.. On the Group Cruise I talked to him about his experiences and he really enjoyed them.. Billy We need your expertise!
  19. Oh I absolutly agree they need to fix the website. I would actually rather make the reservations myself because I am a planner and it is fun for me. However, I am not going to pay for something I am supposed to get for free. I think I am going to wait until May when the program gets rolled out and then contact either Club Royale or Crown and Anchor and see what they say about what to do.
  20. I would pick Explorer for the same reason Matt said
  21. Yes I am still on this sailing! When i was on the dreaded cruise critic I heard that your "Royal Genie" Was supposed to contact you about 2 weeks before sailing to arrange everything you need including specialty dining reservations. I like you have no interest in Paying Royal Caribbean now and having them reimburse me. Have you tried to Call Club Royale and ask them if the Royal Genie's will help? I wanted to just havent had time with work.. LEt me know if you find out anything because like you said it is supposed to be included!
  22. Royal Loft holds 6 people and Aquatheater 2 bedroom holds 8 people. Also 2bed room aquatheater suite has a view of the Aquatheater. They both are part of the new Suite Star Class so they both get a Royal Genie, Both get Ultimate Beverage PAckage, Free Specialty dining etc... Really it comes down to how many people you want in the room and what view you want... Oh yea I forgot Royal Loft Sutie also has a huge Hot Tub on the Balcony
  23. Hi RedRambler, I was just on Allure last week in a suite.. The concierge sent out an email 1 week before sailing and took care of all my requests then. Since you might have some special requests due to health issues you probably should email them now just for your own piece of mind.. Just so you know Dexter was great! You are in great hands.
  24. Matt, I saw the same thing a large Gluten Free section... Also my mother in law is Gluten Free and in the Windjammer she has no problem asking staff for Gluten Free Bread even Gluten Free cookies and they are always happy to bring her those things.
