  1. We all need to remember when we sail on RCL ships they cost anywhere from 500 million to 1.5 billion dollars to build. This is a publicly traded company that needs to make money for its shareholders. They have every right to perform market analysis to determine pricing for everything they do. One might argue why some nightclubs can get 300 - 400 dollars for a "bottle" of 25.00 liquor. Some might say thats crazy that people pay it but those prices keep rising so there are people that find it valuable. The great thing is we all have choices!
  2. One other thing to note is, it is VERY customary to eat Nigiri, Hand Rolls (obviously), and some of the less messy rolls with your hands. For some reason, plain raw fish, no rice (sashimi) is supposed to be picked up only with chopsticks. In America i find we almost try to prove to ourselves and others that we can use chopsticks well but when you are in Japan you will see people just pick up each piece and plop it in their mouth. If you find yourself breaking apart slices of a roll or your nigiri with chopsticks, pick it up and enjoy!
  3. Hello, I am Chris and I am an al.......... Oh wait wrong forum. I reside in Austin Texas, love love love love love craft beers, wait did i say I love craft beers yet? Total hop head, the more IPA's i can try the better life is. Very much a foodie where i love to cook and try things and as such I love when you see unique and interesting approaches to dishes on the ships. I am not someone that judges others for what they like or dislike when it comes to food / drinks but thats why variety is fun. Got hooked on cruising back in the late 90s with the Sovereign of the seas, each past girlfriend and my now wife has to put up with my love of being on the seas. If i do not spend at least 4 hours a day perusing RCL BLOG (thanks matt) or other cruise sites, such as my cruise planner its just not a good day. I work in the fascinating world of selling data management, Analytics, business intelligence and Machine learning software. Enjoy everything these boards have to offer and I enjoy sharing my experiences when possible.
  4. 1) With the BOGO you will find that when you choose a dining time it usually doesnt mean anything. Also with the BOGO you can not pre-select the restaurant before the cruise. When you board the ship there is a VERY high likelihood that you will have no reservation at all for the first or second night of specialty dining. No problem though, just go to ANY specialty restaurant when you board and get some reservations set up. Because nights 1 and 2 are slower in specialty dining establishments you shouldnt have any issue getting the place and time you desire as long as you do it fairly quickly after boarding. 2) I do not have any experience with Anthem so i just dont know this answer.
  5. Royal Replenish definitely includes all premium coffees as well as non alcoholic bar drinks such as a pina colada without the alcohol
  6. Also, they do a lot of cleaning in the middle of the night, rolling big cars around, sometimes powerwashing, may make for some unpleasant sleep.
  7. Im guessing its the same curry you would see at lunch, just during breakfast hours?
  8. As you likely already know Royal Replenish doesnt include alcohol so the phrase "see myself getting a premium beverage on the way to dinner" may end up confusing to folks. With that being said they do not technically keep track of the time between drinks but they are very savvy if they see you order a drink, disappear for a minute or two and come back for another. Thats a clear indication of sharing and they will get a manager over very quickly in those situations. Just be reasonable and do not do things that even you would consider suspicious and you will have no issues at all. For example I have grabbed a beer in the pub and walked over to the promenade for a coffee within 1 minute (yes coffee and beer) and have never had any issue.
  9. This is good news, they cant change too much in two weeks time as I leave on the same 9 night on March 17.
  10. Would love to join you guys as I am a fellow Texan but Ill be enjoying everything the Navigator of the Seas has to offer during that time. I like the idea of having more Texas meet ups though.
  11. I am happy to report that RCCL fixed this issue on their end. After many calls they finally admitted it was on their side and took care of it within 2 days.
  12. I am on a Navigator sailing in march and any time i go into my cruise planner and try to click on ADD drink package, ADD Dining, ADD Excursion, ADD internet i get this message: Well, this is unfortunate. Here you are trying to plan a vacation and our website decides to take one.We are aware of the issue and are currently working to fix it. Please try again later and sorry for the inconvenience. Visit www.royalcaribbean.com © Royal Caribbean International Unexpected Error: Error thrown from: class com.rccl.pcp.gateway.reference.impl.PackagesGatewayImpl : I have tried 4 different browsers on my own pc. Cleared all cookies. Tried 3 more PCs, tried phone, all get same error. Been like this for about a week. Anyone else had this happen? I saw a posting on CC with the same error but still no resolution and if Royal Caribbean cared they should realize nobody can buy anything with this web issue.
  13. Yep, just like that with a very nice sushi man standing behind the station making new rolls and refilling the plates. We had a great lunch that day.
  14. For those of you who have done sabor before, Is 3 times at sabor on a 9 night cruise too much? I have day 4,6,9 reserved for Sabor Dinner. I like the idea of being able to utilize the drink package in there and try all the margaritas in those 3 trips.
  15. On Liberty in December they had an IZUMI station set up in the MDR the last sea day at lunch. All the sushi was being made fresh and put on to big platters you could help yourself. Granted they were only doing rolls but they had about 5 different kinds of rolls and some sides like seaweed salad. Nice way to end that sailing for sure.
  16. hahahah Anthem would make the port of Galveston look even more filthy than it already is. :)
  17. I like the idea of "Perfect Day Cafe", has a nice ring to it.
  18. Sounds like not yet. The only way they could do this is to stop taking reservations for the 0.00 al a carte and start the fixed price but I would think that puts them like 9 months out from starting this.
  19. I am now wondering if RCL will consider my BOGO and two discounted sabor specialty reservations are 3 or more pre cruise planner specialty dining reservations and offer the rebate. Either way i do not want to change them but extra money would be great. Truth be told it will probably be paid right back in TIPS but makes me feel good to be able to reward great service.
  20. For me gusto at lunch is a tutti salad and fresh panko breaded chicken fingers. I do not even think they use frozen ones which may we why I find them so tasty.
  21. For those of us who typically tip 1.00 a drink at a pub/bar in your home town, clearly this equates to approx 56 drinks worth of tips included in your package. I do like to recognize exceptional service and you will find folks that go that extra mile truly appreciate anything extra and you will likely see it in their interactions for the rest of the cruise.
  22. I do remember chicken wings at Windjammer on Allure. If i remember correctly they were un-sauced but pretty decent. And yes I order off the kids menu, especially chicken tenders in the MDR at lunch.
  23. I did the BOGO for the first two nights and scattered in night 5 and night 9 with the discounted sabor. 4 nights special, 5 nights MDR and Windjammer. Pretty stoked.
