  1. WOW --- I stand by my statement ..... I doubt, at that moment in time, they were thinking about getting lawyered up.... He was attached to them within hours. There's no way a person with those type of accolades waits for the cases to come to him. His ego has to be larger than Freedom.
  2. I can't wonder how much of this B.S. is from the sketchy lawyer convincing them to go forward and that it's not their fault...... I would almost bet that he approached them, not the other way around, and in their state of mind, sold them a "bill of goods" that it was Royal's Fault. Now, thanks to the lawyer, they're "all in" --- no backing out now. And who wins in the end.... the family? Not even close....... The Lawyer? You betcha.
  3. Wal-Mart doe the same thing ..... they also use the psychology of merchandising and the placement of certain items designed for impulse buys. There's a reason why the main aisle is known as Action Alley in many stores.
  4. And who's to say how long these excursions will be canceled..... I'm sure they're getting a lot of push-back from the vendors due to the effect on the local economy. Who know's, by the time our cruise comes around in March, they may reintroduce the mud bath excursion in St. Lucia.
  5. We had some crazy ice this morning here in the far west ..... I know the Weather Channel posted a small clip of a truck spinning on a bridge this morning. I went across that same bridge about an hour before things got real bad. Of course, a few weeks ago, we had a 50+ car pileup on 68 about 10 miles to the west of that location of the truck spinning on ice. Perhaps, instead of salt, we should put down Old Bay on the roads..... yeah, that's the ticket.
  6. Good .... going through Morgantown & Cumberland is the way to go .... you avoid the Turnpike (which they just raised the tolls on). I actually work & live near Cumberland so you travel through my neck of the woods ..... takes about 2 1/2 hours to get to the port.
  7. Which way do you come into Maryland..... PA Turnpike to Breezewood and down, or, 79 south to Morgantown, then 68 east through Cumberland to Hancock & 70 east?
  8. While I would agree with you, one can assume that if you're close enough to drive, you're also close enough to know back roads and different bypasses to get you around any incidents. That's exactly what happened to us heading down to Baltimore .... we were on I-70 east west of Hagerstown, when, wouldn't you know it.... Accident..... fortunately, to our rescue came US 40 and MD 144 --- both parallel roads to the interstate that eventually, we were able to use to access other back roads to get around all the crap. Easy Peasy for a local.
  9. Exactly ..... I'm 57 and can still hang with the young whippersnappers ?. To me, elderly is 70+. At least of the age when you can collect Social Security, NOT when AARP hounds you with mailers on a daily basis.
  10. For all my cruises that I've taken thus far ..... they never appeared more than 49 Days out ....
  11. Here's my letter - I figure it's referencing our mudbath excursion in St. Lucia.
  12. I have it that I use strictly for Royal purchases ..... I'm with @JLMoran on his thought process. We also have the Southwest Card, for which we get crazy amounts of points that we're able to use when flying to Florida to visit family. The Southwest Card is our "go to" card, whereas, the Royal Card is used strictly for the OBC benefits.
  13. We had so much fun when we took it ..... and I'm not a sushi eater.
  14. We are also looking at this one .... the sailing on the 21st. We'll be on for my wife's birthday. We'll keep you posted.
  15. I wonder if she could come back --- perhaps New Orleans could be in play since nothing is scheduled past '21 Personally, I'd love to see Jewel in Baltimore and send Enchantment to Nola. It would be a win for both areas.
  16. We were totally guilty of this .... on our first cruise, we booked an interior directly under the R Bar on Grandeur ..... fortunately, about the time we were headed to bed was the same time the entertainment moved up to the VCL so it never became an issue. In fact, we stayed in the same cabin 2 more times after that.
  17. Not sure who had it first, I saw it on the Freedom of the Seas Cruisers Facebook Page.
  18. Our biggest mistake was not looking at the holiday calendar before we booked a cruise. In other words, we booked Brilliance over the Easter holiday this past April. Way too many young kids for our liking. Our kids are older so when we like to cruise, we like it a little more settled down, a little more mature. Had we known it was going to be Easter, we would not have booked that date. We tend to gravitate more towards holiday's that are more "adult oriented", as opposed to "Family Oriented", like Halloween and New Years Eve. Now, you may ask, why didn't we just move the date..... one word answer...non-refundable. At the end of the day, we still had a GREAT time, met some awesome folks and were able to cruise with old friends, what's not to love about being on a cruise, but, it just wasn't what we tend to go towards in having a fantastic cruise experience for the two of us.
  19. A lot of that pricing is what I call, the "Bermuda Factor" ---- their port fees are much higher than normal Caribbean port fees. I too am disappointed that there aren't any 7-nighters to Bermuda. I would've thought that when they reintroduced them back in '18, and the incredible success with it, they would've scheduled more ..... who knows.
  20. We always bring a basic first aid kit .... you never know when you need a band-aid or Neo-Sporin ..... Also, bring some Tums and Ibuprofin....
  21. Sounds like you may need to shuffle the deck and get a new roommate. Problem solved.
