  1. ^^^^ This is a good reason to stick to FL ports. I don’t think I need any further reasons to stay out of California.
  2. This red stripe was consumed at 11am on Icon and we had already toured 1/2 the ship by that point. Good luck
  3. Do not waste valuable time in your life trying to secure an early check in time on Icon. You have better chances of an empty lounge chair at the main pool on a sea day at noon! In all seriousness, boarding times are nonsense and vacation should start at 11am on day 1! I have never once had a single issue boarding as early as 10:30am with 1:00pm official boarding time.
  4. There were 2 pelotons on Wonder for anyone to use. The other bikes you see are an off brand used for spin classes.
  5. Switchgear can and does fail. A modern mega ship like Icon has a backup or two (even if there was a fire, the power systems are positioned behind blast walls and fire suppression systems. The switchgear is also automated and should close in within a set amount of cycles. The delay in water, power exc was either a more significant issue in the engine room or the various systems running through a start up process. Sometimes a major event could cause fiber communication to be lost and thus rendering automatic switchgear useless without trained personnel executing a switching order to restore the systems when safe to do so.
  6. This portion of the show they added in early March and is actually very awesome! IMG_1205.mov
  7. We sat in the top row close to hooked and that was the only row I noticed with cushions (but that was March). Hopefully this issue has been resolved.
  8. Take my word (and others) for it. Back breaking…
  9. As great as the aquatheatre shows are on Oasis class, the water show on Icon blows it out of the water (pun intended). The seats in the Aquadome theatre are back breaking though.
  10. It can’t be any closer than the current offerings considering the city has no beaches in one direction and the land in the other direction is taken up with hotels and beach clubs. The other coast has too many cliffs and rough water. Maybe RC made Mr Sancho an offer he simply couldn’t refuse?
  11. 1. Pre book as much as you can in the cruise planner. 2. Have fun! Oasis class ships are the best family vacation!
  12. Prime time Spring break 100% capacity, no issues.
  13. Total opposite. It felt the least crowded of any RC ship I’ve been on. Very good flow throughout the ship.
  14. Scan a suite level sea pass card and then press deck 17 and see what happens. My kids showed me this trick on Wonder and it did work sometimes (people got a bit hissy though).
  15. Totally agree, pretty much anything would be better than an interior room. The whole AC shutting off thing seems like it would get annoying though.
  16. margaritaville is much easier to get to and a fun day for the kids. The service is typical Bahamas “slow” so if the kids are hungry at a certain time you will need to plan ahead. The bar service is actually slower than slow (like reverse) so grab a couple while you are already at the bar because it’s a hike from the pool area. Despite the service issues, the pool area is very nice and well maintained. I recommend it for sure.
  17. this was booked through RC. Hold off a couple days for the site to populate the excursions after itinerary change.
  18. I agree with this. The check in times are no longer a thing. I don’t care what time it says to show up and never have. Vacation starts at 11am on Day # 1.
  19. Spice Mill is very nice….
  20. We really enjoy Odyssey! That’s a great ship.
  21. I live in Fort Lauderdale so we probably see things differently. I don’t really care much about the beach and prefer the abundance of things to do on Oasis class/Icon and others while visiting some nice Caribbean islands at the same time. I am not a fan of spending too much time in one place so cruising satisfies that need pretty well. We have certainly tried all inclusive resorts in many exotic (and some local) destinations and find them to be more of a hassle than a relaxing vacation. Also important to note, close proximity to the 3 major cruise ports & D+ crown and anchor plays a major role in the decisions we make for vacations as well. Maybe one day when the kids get a bit older we will do Europe again but it will 100% be on a cruise ship.
  22. Carnival ships new and old were designed by a blind engineer. Horrible aesthetic and overall design regarding the routing of large groups of people across the ship. I find the Oasis class to be the opposite and have really never felt crowded. As far as other vacation options…. Hard NO WAY for us. We have recently tried some land based vacations that were horrible regarding the lines and crowds of people all fighting to get a spot at the pool. There’s so much more to see and do in a cruise which offers a higher overall value for my family.
  23. I only know because my wife is a big fan. Happy wife, happy life…..
