  1. Ok your young @ looking for a good time. South Beach might be right for you and your partner. If you do decide to stay in Fort Lauderdale check out the W Fort Lauderdale beach, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach or the Atlantic Hotel. I believe you will like these hotels and they are right on the beach and appx 10 minutes from the cruise port (shuttle service available). By the way your gonna love Oasis of the seas it's simply amazing!
  2. @ J_Keeble- I've lived in south Florida my entire life specifically Fort Lauderdale. It all boils down to what you are looking to do? Lifestyle? If your looking to party all night long and ok with paying tourist prices @ $20.00USD per drink then Miami (south beach) is your place. If you are traveling with a family or just looking to relax I highly suggest you stay on Fort Lauderdale Beach and maybe take a day or night trip to Miami Beach. Both cities are close enough together that it's neither here nor there as far as where you decide to stay. I can tell you this though, the traffic in Miami is HORRIBLE and nearly everyone speaks Spanish. Simply put, Fort Lauderdale is Miami minus the traffic and language barrier.
  3. Miami is roughly 25 miles South of the Port Everglades. You could either take a cab $30-$40, uber or pre-arranged transportation. The better question is why Miami? Fort Lauderdale has great beaches, excellent dining and has a lot less traffic and confusion.
  4. Matts answer is very understandably PC. In my experience (20+ Cruises across many classes) it is normally a request that is denied. Save yourself the hassle and just open the doors yourself. You have adjoining rooms so there is no harm in opening the doors to create a large balcony. It takes seconds to open and the doors secure nicely with a hook in the open position.
  5. You can do it yourself with a car key and avoid RC telling you they can't do it.
  6. ^^^^ thanks for the info WAAAYTOOO! I am planning on placing some substantial casino bets on this short cruise as I want to get a nice discount on an Oasis Class Royal Loft next time around.
  7. ^^^ this is interesting. I did not know RC accepted that type of action with open arms. To my knowledge the highest acceptable play on roulette (per spin) was $50.00. Or was it $500.00 and I mis read it?????
  8. My wife & I booked one of the owners suites for 3/7 sailing. Was wondering if anyone on this forum has stayed on any radiance class owners suites and if the new suite program benefits us in any way? Needless to say we are excited as we normally stay in JS category. Just wanted to get an idea as to what we can expect (perks exc). Thanks in advance.
  9. ^^ it's not all about what they can do. I feel good about giving them extra $.
  10. Fort Lauderdale to replace Allure of the seas. It makes sense
  11. Marc ^^^ 7500 points is a whole lot of gambling. What were you playing? How did the comp get propositioned? Did you have to ask for it?
  12. 7 day cruise give them a $100.00 bill and you will be good to go. Small price to pay for A++++++ service.
  13. It's free and it flows. Great experience
  14. Check out the 4 day sailing out of Fort Lauderdale on Independance of the seas. I've been on many of the shorter cruises since I live by the cruise port and this one is the best short duration cruise ship IMHO.
  15. I normally book aft rear facing when I can. It's simply a great stateroom experience being able to watch the ports from the rear disappear as you go. I find the sound of the propulsion to be soothing and I loved to smoke a nice cigar on the balcony when it was allowed in the past. IMHO the only time you will notice anything is when your pulling into port and they activate thrusters there is some vibration (not sure you would even notice on higher deck levels). In any case it's a very positive experience. Enjoy.
  16. I forgot to mention that yes I do in fact receive roughly 50% discounts but much like you I still feel in the dark about where I stand. It's annoying because anywhere else you go (other lines & land based casinos) you are recognized by tier level and it's very cut & dry. I normally gamble $25.00 hand blackjack and various slots max bet ($5 pull) which is hardly a high roller but certainly deserving of some type of recognition. Either way I think your right and RC is gonna FUBAR the hell out of this new program. I may have to sail another line as well.
  17. ^^ agree with WAAAYTOOO. Maybe it's the whole Sat departure thing that gets me more in a party mood and gets me thinking Oasis is more of a party. I miss that casino! Lots of action and just an all together great scene. I could care less about the shows, that's for my wife to watch while I'm pissing away cash on blackjack! RC needs to seriously consider a revamp on their casino program though. I have sailed a decent amount and spent a small fortune but still really have no idea what my status is... There's the occasional bottle of wine and comped dinner but nothing of note. Oh well.
  18. In other words it's just another case of the weather man being full of s@it??????
  19. They are the same ship. I've been on both 4 times. I would say for some reason for which I cannot validate that the Oasis seems to be the party ship more so than allure. Either way your going to enjoy your vacation because IMHO these 2 ships are the greatest ships to ever sail. Here's a couple tips: 1. Make sure you do the chefs table. It's pricy but the food is amazing and the wines is endlessly flowing. 2. Skip the lunch buffet and go to park cafe in Central Park. Get in line for a roast beef sandwich with horse radish & au jus! The best sandwich ever.
  20. You have to eat at Martaranos Italian American Kitchen. Awesome food and a great action packed atmosphere!
