  1. Not sure when this came out, but the article does mention for 7 days after the cruise ended, unless a crime is reported in those 14 days https://blog.oncamgrandeye.com/news/security-today-article-navigating-the-high-seas
  2. We’re stopping in Colon as well on our upcoming cruise. Would be interested as well in hearing about excursions or shopping. I have lived near the Welland canal most my life, so visiting the locks isn’t high on my list
  3. Same boat. Did the online checkin at midnight last night. Talked to our TA and they said no longer need to upload it, just bring it with you. As for the health questions, I’m a 50 yr old male. Funny they’re asking is I’m pregnant.
  4. This thread kinds of reminds me when I bought my 2nd house. The day after it closed I went shopping and couldn't use my debit card (something along the lines unable to process). Coming home I swung by the back machine and tried it, got an insufficient funds error. Got home and checked on web banking, somehow instead of putting the price of my new home against the mortgage I just took out they put it against my chequing account. That was one big overdraft
  5. Ouch that's stressful. Would figure the software would have a business rule configured to catch that when it's being entered. Does Royal always hit the card with an authorization for each purchase? Figured it would be just once at the end when you settle your account, then again close to 100,000 is it's own beast. Part of this is on the credit card companies, once reversed that authorization should drop immediately.
  6. Living north of border, seeing what's driving it, I'd say no, don't hold your breath.
  7. Haven't been on Wonder, but from prices perspective I'd go Oasis (not sure the premium you'll pay to get on Wonder would be worth it, hit it up in a couple of years) I did go on Anthem when it was a little over a year old and they were still working out the kinks. I would assume Wonder is still in that process, which might affect your decision
  8. Could be supply chain. Can easily see it's what @CrznTxn said as I've experienced that scenario both at work and at home trying to get things fixed. Seeing the whole cruise industry got the beat down far beyond any other industry over the past few years, I will cut them some slack for a bit until they can get their feet back under them
  9. I guess it depends on how many flights are available to where your going. If it's between that and 8pm I'd say go for it. If the next flight is at 12:45pm, I'd be more app to take the 2nd one. If you run into no issues (boat arrives on time, early departure, can't see there being a traffic issue) you shouldn't have a issue. Any delay getting off the ship will cause you stress. One thing that would stress me is I've been on ships that were more relaxed on departure time in allowing us to pick when we want to leave the ship (usually a few nights in advance assuming that time slot isn't full) and I've been on some it's when they tell you a time no negotiation (which caused me to arrive late at my destination later). I would make sure they're aware of the flight time
  10. When we first started cruising we were debated between RCL and NCL. One deciding factor going to RCL was NCL had that all inclusion (pick 3 of 4). It was significantly more and forced me to pick stuff I didn't want.
  11. If it was an emergency (getting out of the way of the storm. couldn't get back to port) I would think an exception would be allowed in this situation, maybe let the ships tie up but not disembark. Outside of that I guess Royal would cancel the cruise. Are there many Caribbean bound cruises from those ports in the fall?
  12. I wouldn't be mad or offended. He has a fear and doesn't have a issue with you going.
  13. We have a party member in a wheelchair, we just booked the shows in general (no mention of a wheelchair) and showed up. Never had an issue finding a spot, usually the crew direct us
  14. Depends on how much luggage I have. When my kids were younger too much of a hassle to carry it off
  15. Done it a few times, depending on the amount of luggage I have. Usually I do it if it's just my wife and myself on a short cruise. Having said that I'm not sure it's a given they'll let you on every ship, I do remember one not allowing us
  16. Wouldn't have a issue if the ships were of the same class. Moving me to a smaller class ship I'd take the refund.
  17. Only stayed in Manhattan once at a Hampton inn at 8th and 51st. It was a short walk to the park, times sq and stuff. Wasn’t too expensive, around 200 a night. Hotels 2 blocks over in times square were going to 3x’s the amount When we went to tour south Manhattan we stayed across the river in a double tree suite in Newport NJ. It was near the ferry and easy to get to the financial district
  18. RC has some weird logic at times. This is something I experiment with when taking the kids (well they're not really kids anymore). Last one it was cheaper to book 2 adjoining balcony rooms with the 2 kids in the one room and my wife and I in the other as opposed to us all staying in the same balcony room. Then the bonus we got the 2nd bathroom
  19. We decided to use AirToSea this time around, but got our TA to book it when we booked the cruise. We're 1/2 way between Toronto and Buffalo and decided to fly out of Buffalo. The return flight changed and the TA dealt with it. I don't think the issue is with AirToSea, but the airlines themselves. Interesting to mention the special forms and 7 day wait as TA brought something similar up when rebooking ours. Originally was suppose to have a connecting flight back through Chicago. The airline cancelled our second leg and moved us to an earlier flight leaving only a 25 minute layover (too short for me in these times). The TA tried to instead switch to have the layover in Atlanta and ATS told us we had to fill out a form and it would take them 14 days to get back to us. Our TA was "What the.."??? Anyhow he switched us to a different air carrier with no issue and immediate confirmation. So far so good now. On our PR trip we stayed at the Condado Plaza Hilton (about 1km from the port), had no issues and would like to go back
  20. Only been there twice. The main security gate we got through within 5 minute (never a lineup). First time they were expecting a hurricane so the parking lot beside the terminal was closed and we had to go park in the parking garage and get shuttled back, that was more than 30 minutes. Second time probably from the time we hit the security gate area to the time we were in the terminal was closer to 25 minutes. The bottleneck outside both times is the dropping off of bags. We have a person in a wheelchair with us so we skip much of the line inside the terminal, couldn't tell that wait time. This was pre covid, with assigned times now I would expect the bag drop off to a little less crowded
  21. after 14 days at sea that might not be a bad thing LOL
  22. Noticed the same thing on my cruise for the key. We\ve never gotten voom, but we have a upcoming 14 day cruise and were thinking of getting ti should somebody need to get a hold of us from back home. Seen the key today and it's 6 bucks cheaper than the voom on it's own. Thinking about getting it just for that. I'm only interesting in one device being setup. Does everybody int he cabin need to get the key if one person gets its (like the drink package?). If not then it would be worth just getting the key for my wife
  23. I wouldn't be too sure. I've seen many videos of people being moved from a area by security due to a medical a emergency and they run to a stairwell, go up or down a floor and try to get back into the area a different way. One was on the Oasis class back by the aqua threatre and the guy recorded himself doing it, explaining he was trying to find another way back into the area so he hie record. There was one from a little over a month ago, where you hear a crew member saying we told you this area is closed for a emergency, move along
  24. Myself I have no issue staying on the ship and not visiting ports, really depends on how I'm feeling. For a 3 nighter, I could see just staying on the ship and relaxing in which case for me it would be worth it assuming I don't have far to travel to get to the cruise port.
  25. I haven’t seen the head waiter in any of my last 4 cruises. Was thinking they got rid of them
