  1. Warning: The overwater cabana will only hold 8 guests while the waterpark will only hold 6 guests. This includes entrance into Coco Beach club or the waterpark. I would recommend a cabana for the older adults at either the Chill Beach or South Beach. Those are the quiet areas. All others can grab chairs near by for when they want to visit. Then just get the waterpark admissions for those who wants it.
  2. You can also do it the old fashion way and print out an extra copy of your luggage tag and put it in your luggage (on top). I have also read that people will 'laminate' their luggage tag using clear shipping tape - less likely for the luggage tag to fall off. And still others will purchase a plastic luggage tag holder with a steel cable.
  3. If you check in your bag with the porters, make sure you keep a small backpack or beach bag. In this bag, should be your medications, sunscreen, and bathing suit. Medication just in case your baggage goes into a deep dark hole. Sunscreen and bathing suit so you can sit out on the deck in the gorgeous sun, waiting for your room to be read. Have fun. Leave your worries behind.
  4. It is so simple to make it homemade!!! Just buy a few vanilla beans, at least 2 but I use 4 to 6 per 8 oz. Split them open and scrap out the seeds. Put the pods and the seeds into a small bottle. Add vodka (I am told that some use rum). Sit back and wait. The longer you wait, the darker and more flavorful the vanilla will be . Anywhere from 3 moths to 1 year. There is a difference between the vanilla beans: Madagascar, Mexican, and Tahitian.
  5. On the app, you will see 3 icons along the top: ship, calendar, and person. The app will default to the calendar. The WRONG Spot would be the 'Check In' icon along the bottom. For the RIGHT spot, click on the person icon. Then scroll down until you see the 'check in' button. The button will be grayed out or not available if the time is not right.
  6. You would think that having multiple bars open per deck would reduce the lines and crowds, thus lessening the changes of catching COVID or a cold or something. But that would require common sense and we know that governments are usually lacking it.
  7. You can also hire a personal trainer. I used them before on my sea days.
  8. Great timing on this blog. My family was just discussing whey or not we should go. My questions are: when do you purchase the wine flight? Can only a few people at the table purchase the wine flight or does the entire table have to?
  9. You can use your 3 night dinner package for either lunch or dinner. However, if you want to get the big bang for the buck, people will use the dining package just for dinners. You can always eat at these speciality restaurants at any time - just pay for the extra bucks. Your first dinner reservation will be made for you for either the first or second night - your choice when you make the reservations. Once you are on board, you will head to the nearest speciality restaurant and make the other two dinner reservation. You can also move that first dinner reservation if you did get the restaurant you wanted.
  10. I always go for a late dinner - just in case our shore excursion runs late or the ship has a long port time. This way, we don't have to rush back. But when we eat at a speciality dining, we try for a more 'normal' time - like 6:30pm. We are usually doing these on sea days.
  11. New shore excursions can be added at any time. My cruise is 40 days out and suddenly we saw some new excursions. Fortunately, it cost you nothing to cancel one shore excursion to select a new one.
  12. I agree it would be nice to find out exactly why a port has been canceled or replaced. IN my case, I know why my June 18 Allure cruise canceled one port - it was due to the Cartel. Other potential reasons: Weather, ports are closing due to an upbeat in COVID, and ports increasing their port fees. But I know that a cruise line won't just switch or cancel a port just because they feel like it. But yes, it would be nice to know.
  13. Make sure you are checking in the right spot. I wasted about 5 minutes looking for the right spot to check in on the app.
  14. I totally agree. I have a brother who lives in Vegas. He was complaining how cold it was in July. I asked him what was the temperature - 75!!! Ok, so their heat wave of 2 weeks of days over 100 may have played into it.
  15. Now wait a minute - I am living in NH and everyone here also wears shorts and a t-shirts. In fact, we are pulling those out when it hits 60's.
  16. Here is some unsolicited advice: 1) bring medical or food prep gloves. Wear them when putting on the patch to prevent the medication from getting on your hands. 2) Try the patch BEFORE the trip to see how your body will react. 3) if you don't have a good experience with the patch, cut off 1/4 of the patch. Yeah, I know they tell you not to do this but it was a life saver for me. 4) IMMEDIATELY after putting in the patch, take off the gloves AND WASH your hands. Especially stay away Finn your eyes until you have washed those hands. I also wash the scissors I used. 5) after 3 days, remove the old patch and put a new one on behind the other ear. 6) Bring dramamine or bonanine just in case the patch does not work for you. Enjoy your trip! Oh, believe me. If you have ever been sea sick, you will know that the patch is working. In fact, I have once stood at the bow wondering why I am not sick. Amazing feeling!
  17. What I read on this site and on RC, as long as at least 1 name/person stays the same, you can switch people in & out. That means your wife can take someone with her.
  18. Another place you will need cash and not CC is at Coco Cay's market stalls. It is a place to purchase souvenirs.
  19. That is what I did. But for those who did not prepaid, I thought they were billed at the end of the cruise. I also thought that when you purchased a drink (for those of us who are not on the deluxe drink package), you are charged not only for the drink but also 18% gratuity. So I thought you only need tip money for the porters and the tour guys/gals and any food/souvenirs you purchase at ports.
  20. I thought RC charges you a 18% at the end of the cruise for the wait staff and room attendant?
  21. I should also mention that the lower on the ship, the less swaying you will feel.
  22. I am also on Allure in June for a 6 day cruise. The drink package is buy one and get the second at 50% off. That brings the price down from $98 to $72.99. That is a total of $875.88.
  23. I have booked, cancel, and rebooked several times as prices and deals have gone up and down. But as @SpeedNoodlessaid, be careful of the actual price. They may raise the price and provide a better discount, but the overall price may be the same or more!
