Thank you so much for the information about your TA.  She sounds like one I would choose to have.  Today I contacted mine about making a payment on my upcoming cruise.  It still has not been posted on my credit card nor have I received an updated sheet with my new balance.  She sounds totally disinterested in helping me whether by text or phone.  I do not feel I can switch agents at this point, but I will definitely contact yours for future cruises.

We love ours -- admittedly, half the reason I use it is to organize stuff BEFORE we cruise.  (Its already hanging behind the spare room closet door.)  Even though our teen boys have moved to their own room, we still keep it to store a lot of our extras for excursions, etc.  And yes, for shoes!  We did have it on the outside of the closet door last time as well -- didn't bother me so much, and it makes things easy to find.  
 
When we traveled four to a cabin with two kids, this thing was a must for me. (It's a mom-sanity-saver in tight quarters!) Now its optional and I still bring it. Don't think anyone NEEDS it, but if you like staying organized, it can make your trip all the more relaxing.

After previous cruises with a companion, I will be cruising solo in a few months.  I would appreciate any insights, tips, warnings, or comments from former or current solo cruisers. Thanks!

I do not have personal experience with the naughty room nor with trying to sneak alcohol onto a cruise ship.  What I'm most guilty of is smuggling soda onto the ship, which I do by carrying a 12 pack on with me for all to see.

Those are probably the same people "reserving" all the pews in church on Christmas and Easter! :angry:

I haven't done it yet, but I do know that you'll earn double Crown and Anchor points when sailing solo unless you're on a ship that offers solo cabins.  However, there are only a couple of ships that actually offer solo cabins.

I have for the last few years.  Its a bit awkward at times, but never been a moment when I would ever consider not cruising!  
 
I don't do the MDR any more, but after the first time I've never felt uncomfortable in specialty restaurants.    The shows are not an issue, nor has anything else been.  
 
My biggest struggle has always been in the Windjammer... I will want to go get another plate or get desert and my table will be gone!  I now try to ask a crewmember to "watch" my dirty dishes until i return!   ;)
 
No reason to be afraid!  Go for it!

I have cruised solo for the last five years and I love it. I do what I want, when I want.
 
Most of my meals are in the MDR. I ask for a table if 10 so I can meet new friends.
 
When passengers find out I am a solo cruiser I usually get one of two replies "Good for you, doing your retirement your way" or "Aren't you afraid to cruise by yourself?" I am on a ship with 4000 other passengers, what happens to me will happen to them.
 
My advice is always be aware of your surroundings when doing shore excursions or getting off the ship. Try to stay in a group.
 
Relax and enjoy, you will make new friends and have a ball.

I booked Thanksgiving cruise through RCCL over the phone.  Do I need to transfer it to MEI to take advantage of the blog group activities?  If so, do I just call an MEI agent and explain the situation to them?  Thanks!  

Some of the events are exclusive to those who booked through MEI, so I'd recommend transferring your reservation over.  Also, keep in mind that you only have 60 days from the date that you made the reservation to make the transfer.

My wife and I just booked the Symphony of the Seas cruise for December 8, 2018 going to St. Kitts, St. Thomas, and Nassau on an Ocean View Balcony Room. I really wanted the Thanksgiving weekend, but Uncle Sam needs me to come in for duty. But nevertheless, I'm way too excited!

It was available on the 1/2/17 sailing.

I always use the Luggage Valet option (I know this option is disappearing at some locations....boooooo.....) and you must have a flight later than noon to use that option so I have always had afternoon flights.
 
...but I think, from your experience, if you do the express walk-off and you have always arrived at the airport in plenty of time, I would probably risk a flight departing at 10:40...but certainly no earlier than that.

I totally agree.......egos seem to play a big part in this.

As soon as a review starts with, "I'm a Emerald/Diamond/Diamond plus member, so..." ... I'm PROOOOBABLY going to ignore it.
