canadiancruiser19 reacted to Ampurp85 in Are check-in times still being enforced?
Port Canaveral has barely enforced the check-in times. Yes, they will have lines that say 11am, 1:30am, 12pm etc. but if they are moving along, they will let anyone in. I think pretty soon it will be if you show up, you can board across most ports. Which sucks because if I have a 10:30/11am time I should be able to board without people who have a 1pm check-in time making the lines longer.

One reason, the itinerary. You're going to different islands than you can elsewhere.
So when you say "You can go to almost all of the same ports", almost is the key word. There's other ports.
Variety is the spice of life.

    (1) It gives customers different options and you could ask the same question about cruises in med which visit some of the same ports.
    (2) You also have to remember that not every RC customer comes from the US! For those in Europe its just as cheap to fly to Barbados as it is Florida. And if adding a few days on at end of vacation personally i would rather be sunning it up in Barbados than Miami but thats just my opinion.

because you can have a island vacation on the front end or back end of the cruise. I do think they are also going to more southern ports that royal does not go to often.

We are on Harmony and we want to thank Matt for all of his tips.   We watched quite a few of the videos and watched the YouTube/Facebook live videos.  Sure makes things easy.

    Thanks again.

Bamboo Room on Mariner has some small bits.  The Crown & Compass pub on Odyssey has some good bar food. The Mason jar has some too. Giovonis' wine bar.
I thought at one time you could get some nuts at the Schooner Bar.

WJ has been closed for a couple afternoon hours on every cruise I’ve been on🤷‍♀️.  3-5ish they close for turnover.  If you want food at that time, we’ve always had to hit one of the smaller snack venues.

Apparently Expedia Cruises franchise owners across Canada (not sure if other travel agencies are involved as well) and their BDM’s have petitioned Royal to reconsider this policy to prevent mass cancellations from their clients. Their ask is that at minimum, anyone who was already booked prior to this change would be grandfathered in.
I am not optimistic but Royal has reversed unpopular changes in the past.

Back when the CDC still refused to let ships sail I said back then... if the CDC is promoting vaccines are the answer, then they can't say that vaccinated people are so unsafe they shouldn't travel.
I was double vaxxed in April yet in June they were saying I'm not safe.  I was at the peak of my safeness right then.  That was the perfect time to let fully vaxxed sail.
Eventually the CDC came around and saw it my way 🙂
Canada has the same problem right now.  They are promoting vaccines as the solution yet are saying vaccines don't work for travel?
Canadians can travel within Canada, but not outside Canada.  I guess the virus can't fly domestically within Canada?  If they are so concerned about stopping the spread, then block domestic travel, or test domestic travel, or quarantine domestic travel since Canada is so big on quarantine as the answer.   Right, too afraid of the uproar.  Not following their own "science".
It's the same fear mongering and justification for control that we faced in the US and still face but to a lesser degree.
Trudeau says "Canadians should carefully consider decisions...".  Agreed!  Let Canadians make choices.  It's hard to "carefully consider decisions" when you tell people they can't decide for themselves.
