    Hi.

Researching Bermuda cruises. What type of excursions are there to do there? Also, I see it's docked 2 nights in Bermuda. Do you need to be back at a certain time the first night? Never seen that before.

    Thanks
    Michael

My wife and I took a cruise to Bermuda in  2019. We loved it. Our favorite island. It's beautiful and the people are very nice. Prior to the cruise we had arranged to go on a local helmet dive, not through RC. My wife loved it, and has pictures of her with the fish that hang out there. I don't swim, and am claustrophobic, but I gave it a shot. Didn't happen. That said, we would both do it again in a heartbeat! Through this excursion we had gotten the name of a taxi driver,  and arranged for a private tour of the island. Cost $200, plus tip. Again, we loved it. The only excursion we did through RC was a sunset cruise by Gosling's Rum. Also, fun, and the Dark and Stormy was our drink the rest of the cruise.

That "Airmini" sounds great. But, it's between $880.00 and $999.00.  And like you said, insurance, in my case Medicare/Tricare, won't pay for it.  I may start saving my pennies for my wife to get one.  Her Phillips CPAP has been on recall for about a year, she was told not to use it. and we just got an email from Phillips that they are behind (well duh) and it may take up to an additional year to fulfill the recall.

It's funny how when you are given a sleep study and it's determined that you need a CPAP "IMMEDIATELY", hurry and get it done, they said, hurry you are in danger of a heart attach, they said, hurry your effecting your spouse, they said.

Now that insurance money isn't involved:

I'm sorry to hear the problems y'all are having. I just looked on Lofta, where I purchased mine. I was shocked they've gone up so much! Glad I got mine when I did.

  3. About 3 years ago I bought an AirMini CPAP. Insurance won't pay for it, as it's considered a luxury. It was about $650. However, it's less than half the size of my AirSense 10. It also doesn't use water. It has a replaceable ring that you insert into the tube, and it somehow pulls in moisture from the air. Whenever I travel now, whether a car trip or a cruise, it's what I take. You may still need to ask for an extension cord, depending on where the outlets are. Our last cruise on Symphony, there was an outlet next to the bed.

  4. We're doing an Alaskan cruise in late August, northbound from Vancouver. When we reach Seward we plan on taking the train to Anchorage. The train leaves Seward around 6 pm, arrives Anchorage around 10 pm. What do we do with our luggage before boarding the train, and what is there to occupy us in Seward. When we arrive in Anchorage, I figure we'll head straight to our hotel. We fly out the next night around 9pm. Same question, what do we do with our luggage after we check out from the hotel, and what are recommendations to spend a half day in Anchorage. I realize we probably won't do either town justice, but we still work,  and can't take the extra vacation time.

Cruiser58, We will be on the Symphony in 5 weeks. Our first time on a Oasis class ship. We are excited as we are doing this cruise to experience this ship. How are the crowds for the shows ? We have the UDP for dinners as we want to try different restaurants but also want to see the shows.

Be sure you make reservations for the shows ASAP. Stand in line when you first board if you must. Also, be sure to be at the shows the 15 or 20 minutes ahead to be sure to get your reservations.  At 10 minutes before the show, they release any unclaimed reservations to standbys.

Also, make reservations for your dining locations ASAP. These will fill up quickly.

  6. Currently on Symphony,  closing out another wonderful Royal cruise. First time on a ship this size. We were worried the size would overwhelm us. We have been pleasantly surprised.  As usual, the crew are superb!!  We have only 2 complaints. First, the Royal app has been very hit or miss. It freezes frequently, which is a bummer when you've come to rely on it from previous cruises. The other issue had been the MDR. On our boarding pass,  we were scheduled for 8:00 seating, which is what we wanted.  When we received our Sea Pass Cards, it showed My Time Dining. We were unable to get it changed.  The food has been good as usual (with a couple of exceptions). The staff was great.  However,  we like getting to know  the staff, and when they change every night it isn't as fun.

I would highly recommend flying in the night before for a whole host of reasons, but the biggest being flight delays. You are taking a huge chance of missing the ship if you fly in the morning of your cruise. We were there in December and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel on Biscayne Bay. You can see the cruise terminal from your room if your room faces the bay. We used Lyft to get from the airport to the hotel and then from the hotel to the terminal. We have also stayed at the Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown. It's older, but was fine and just across the street from Bayside Marketplace.

Yes, we usually come in the night before. We're coming from about 2 hours from Dallas, and the cruise leaves on a Saturday. We both still work, and the latest flight on on SWA (which we have credits on) leaves around 6:30 pm Friday night. We haven't decided if we want to take an additional half day on Friday. There is a nonstop Saturday flight that gets in around 11:30 am.

  8. We are cruising on Symphony from Miami in April. We will be flying in to Miami airport on Southwest Airlines. What is the best way to get to the port? Are there shuttles? Also, any recommendations for a nearby hotel. We aren't sure if we're flying in the night before, or the day of departure. Thanks

We packed basically jeans and long sleeved shirts, along with lightweight rain jackets and mid-weight regular jackets, along with knit beanie/toboggan hats and gloves. I think it stayed in the mid fifties to low sixties for most of our trip, so it worked out perfectly. As long as the wind wasn't blowing, it was almost warm enough for short sleeves and long pants. I saw a few people in heavier coats, but I also saw a handful in shorts... 🤣

Do you need waterproof boots/shoes? I realize it depends on the excursion. We'll probably do some where we are on a boat, and maybe some moderate photo excursions.

I didn't want to shell out for VOOM, so I couldn't live blog during our trip on Ovation a few weeks ago, but I figured I'd share my thoughts and pics from our excursions, as that's what I took the most pics of. I'll split it into 3 or 4 multiple posts - one for each excursion.

Thanks for the reviews and photos. Gorgeous! Can't wait to go next fall!

  11. Has anyone had trouble just getting the a2s website to work properly? I'm trying to check flights on our 2022 April cruise out of San Juan. I put in my reservation number, last name, and date of departure; however, when I click on the box to pick my ship, it doesn't allow me to even see ship names, much less pick one. I'm well within the 330 day window to look at flights. This has been happening for over a week.

    Maybe this?

When you put the 2 device package in your cart and go to check out, don’t check the box both people.

Only one person needs to buy the 2 device package.  You don’t need to tell them each person who will be using Voom.

Yesterday we bought the 2 device package for 3 different cruises with no issues.

    Thanks, I'll give it a shot .

  13. Tangential to this question about Voom, I wanted to describe what happened when we went to purchase Voom for 2 devices.

The price for 1 device was 10.99, so that would be about $77 dollars for a 7 day cruise. The price for 2 devices is $19.49,so that should be $137 for the cruise. However, when I added the 2 devices package to my cart, it shows $273. In other words,  they charged me the 19.49 for 7 days for 2 people. We came out ahead by buying 2 single Voom device, roughly $154. Don't know if this is a glitch, or intentional.
