It depends on the country you are in. In Australia or New Zealand you lose the whole deposit which is either $200 or $400 depending on the length of the cruise.

When booking a non refundable cruise you will see the fine print by clicking on cancellation policy on the guest information screen of the booking screen.

If you cancel before final payment, you will lose $100pp and the remainder of your deposit should come back as an FCC. So for example, if you have a deposit for 4 people at $250pp; you will get an FCC for each person for $150.

Unless something has changed that I am not aware of....

Got it, maybe that’s where the 100 I have been seeing is coming from. I haven’t paid final payment yet so this would apply to me if it hasn’t changed. Thanks!

We did this on Navigator in Feb, and I have to say, it was a great time and totally recommended. I wont spoil it by giving you all the details, because we each have things we all enjoy etc.  But it was very much worth it

    Awesome, thank you!!

I visit the spa on every cruise, and a couples massage is fun, though other posters are correct, you're not getting great bonding time, there's no talking you're just in the same room. That being said we do enjoy this type of thing, it's just fun.

And agreed, no bamboo, especially not your first massage!

    Thank you!!

For the same amount of money - maybe consider a different activity that might be more rewarding, in terms of memories or quality time together.   The prices are inflated - which is to be expected, and the massages aren't terrible... but is there an excursion you could explore?   Or a couples massage on land that might be better priced, support a local economy, and provide a better experience?

I've had three massages on board various ships - and they've all been fine... but for the extra price I always had a bit of buyer's remorse at the end and I don't book them any more

Good point. We booked the excursions we wanted already and had some extra money left in our budget so that’s why I was even considering it. We may just get one on land before we go! Thanks for the advice!

My wife and I did this about 2 years ago, and it was a great experience.  Just be prepared for the previously mentioned upsell at the end and can give a strong No Thanks.

Depending on your itinerary, and if you are flexible with when it can happen, there will likely be onboard deals that are cheaper than the cruise planner price.  If you are willing to risk it, and/or get an off peak time, then waiting is beneficial.

    Great, thank you!!

If you have experience with land based massage venues it's pretty similar but they will do a hard sell at the end trying to push a range of products.  It's more expensive compared to a massage on land but if its a special occasion perhaps it's worth it.  They outsource the spa to a 3rd party that does many different cruise lines.

I have never had a massage and was just looking at ways to splurge for my boyfriend and I!

I'm not sure this would be handled in a consistent manner so any answer may be suspect.

It's possible one crew member might let it slide but I think we can all see how some guests would abuse this to avoid paying for both parties.

At a venue such as Izumi where it's an allowance this could totally be abused by many if allowed.

At a venue such as Chops attempted abuse wouldn't work as well so they could possibly allow it but it would likely be inconsistent.  One time they could allow it, a different day or ship maybe not.

IIRC the email address is rcldining@rccl.com. Perhaps email and ask them.

Yea I figured the abuse of this type of request would be an obstacle. I couldn’t get him to eat any of it even if I begged him so that is not my intention at all. I will email them and find out, thank you!
