HDMI ports on Liberty of the Seas
billdauterive replied to TexasAngel1980's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Liberty's TVs definitely have accessible hdmi ports. But this is a good point that just because they are accessible doesn't mean they can actually be used. I've never actually tried to use it, but I might next time just out of curiosity. -
It's way more sedate and quiet. I'm not a huge wine drinker, but I love the laid back atmosphere and comfortable seating. I just get specialty beers from the pub across the promenade and standard drinks (and obviously wine) there.

This is the best advice. Also make sure to bring plenty of smaller bills as you may not be able to make change easily on the boat or on shore.

They serve cocktails as well. I don't think they have a blender for frozen drinks though.

I'm looking at this option too. I think the water bottles (now cans) is a value that most people forget about from the packages. So saving just the difference between the deluxe and refreshment is still pretty significant and can buy several extra alcoholic drinks per day on top of the vouchers including tips. I'm also looking at pre-purchasing multiple 24 packs of water as an option since I don't drink anything other than water and alcohol (but I drink A LOT of water). 24 packs are under $1/can even during non-sales on short cruises. Unfortunately my traveling partner also drinks specialty coffee and soda so it's a little tricky to try and thread the needle.

I'll be on the Mariner for the first time in a few months and I've never been on a ship with a restaurant that has a food credit for the UDP instead of the straight cover charge before. My question is how many times can I visit Playmakers each day for the $20 credit? I'm assuming I can go multiple times a day if I wanted to and have $20 each visit (just as I could technically go to multiple cover charge restaurants each night if I could physically fit all that food in my body). Basically I think I may want to use Playmakers as my late afternoon and late night craving go to instead of Sorrentos but don't want to be limited to just one potential visit a day.

EVERY cruise. If you cruised a 7 day each week all year, you'd get a total of $5200 in OBC (which is tax free). That's why it's such a great deal for anyone who cruises frequently anyway (assuming the stock price isn't significantly over valued).
-
Couldn't have said it better. Treat it like a dividend and it's a pretty decent investment for frequent cruisers. At today's close the "yield" is over 1.2% for each week cruise you take. For comparison the S&P 500 yield has hovered around 1.5% the past few years.

How often do Royal change the headliner shows?
billdauterive replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Not often I think. I know Saturday Night Fever was on Liberty for several years pre-covid and is still the current headliner show. The ice show and aerial show are also the same as before. -
Liberty of the Seas
billdauterive replied to Smithville Cruises's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The big screen wasn't fixed for the Jan 2nd sailing (broken over Thanksgiving as well). The Saturday Night Fever showings and the aerial show (I can't remember the name off the top of my head) were cancelled. I assume they were covid/tracing related, but all other entertainment was still available. I can't speak to anything after that sailing though. -

Cans on Liberty this week. The crew said this was the first cruise with cans. I have gotten a few plastic bottles occasionally so I'm guessing some venues are just finishing up their remaining stock.

Covid test - 48hrs prior or 2 calendar days?
billdauterive replied to Cantwait's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Can confirm 2 calendar days. My test in November was more than 48 hours out but 2 calendar days (8am test, 12pm boarding). No issue. -
Covid Test Harder To Get/Come-By
billdauterive replied to not easy being green's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I also ordered mine Mon but at 1:20pm. Got an email yesterday afternoon (Wed) that my shipment was never picked up by the courier (FedEx) and they were reprinting the label for shipment. Still haven't received the new shipment info (Thurs). Luckily my next cruise isn't until Jan 2nd so I still have a little more than a week to receive them. -

Points just posted... at the solo rate and double points for 28 total. At least I didn't have to call I guess! -

Just FYI, we were told by the loyalty ambassador on board that you don't get the double (or triple for suite) solo points for a no show. It has to be booked as a solo room before sailing. She even got with corporate to double check and they confirmed the same. Doesn't mean we won't be calling in after the C&A points post to try again... -
Ok hubby asked about testing positive
billdauterive replied to Pooch's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
When this happened to us, we no showed the positive one. However it was just under 2 weeks before sailing and everyone else in the party tested negative multiple times before we decided to go for it (with the positive quarantined the entire time). Luckily we had travel insurance and could make a claim for the one that couldn't go. I don't think we would have risked it had it happened any closer to sail date due to incubation time and risk of getting sick on the ship.
