Omg! This trip just took a huge turn for the worst! 
 
While sitting at the gate at DTW, they cancelled our flight. We managed to get ourselves rescheduled on another flight to MCO and then MIA. Breathing a sigh of relief, we sit down at that gate, and that flight got cancelled too! By now I am in tears and ready to call it quits. All flights out of DTW to anywhere in Florida were sold out because of all the cancellations today, and the delta reps basically told me sorry, too bad. 
 
This is where my TA is worth her weight in more than gold. This sailing isn’t even hers. It is the last one I had booked with my former dud TA. She worked like crazy to find us a way to MIA before tomorrow. Now we are in a rental car, driving ourselves to Pittsburgh, to catch a 6am flight to Miami tomorrow. Not exactly how I envisioned by pre-cruise night, but if I can actually make it there tomorrow, I will be forever grateful. 
 

It's almost here! 28 months in the making, #MajorStarClassTakeover on Oasis of the Seas 3/13/2022!
28 months ago, a group of us decided it would be fun to book a March Break sailing together all in Star Class.  There was a great deal on Oasis of the Seas at the time and we thought why not?  None of us have ever been a star class sailing where the majority already knew each other. We lost a few dear friends along the way who had to cancel for various reasons, picked up some new friends, some of us have sailed together before, some of us have known each other for quite some time and are just meeting now. We have a total of 10 out of 13 SC rooms accounted for from our group. I am beyond excited for this sailing! It’s going to be a special one!
Because this is an unofficial group cruise, it won’t be your typical blog.  There’s not going to be much of a preamble, and there will be more than one of us blogging.  From our RCBlog community, we’ll have @tiny260, @Neesa, @bellemiche, and @ShakeDownCruise, hopefully they all jump into this and not leave me high and dry lol
As far as the Star Class pre-cruise stuff goes, most of us got our pre-cruise surveys about 8 weeks out.  Genies reached out about 4-5 weeks ago.  The protocols for Star have not changed since December so if you are wanting to know what sailing Star is like during Covid, see past Star Class blogs (between summer 2021-present) by others or myself. I will not bother to bog down this blog with PDFs and literature, unless someone really want to see it, then I can post.
Here is our itinerary (we think lol) for this sailing:
SUN 13 MAR MIAMI, FLORIDA
MON 14 MAR NASSAU, BAHAMAS
TUE 15 MAR CRUISING
WED 16 MAR CHARLOTTE AMALIE, ST. THOMAS
THU 17 MAR SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO
FRI 18 MAR LABADEE, HAITI
SAT 19 MAR CRUISING
SUN 20 MAR MIAMI, FLORIDA

First, this is a private company impacting another private company. Space launches are cool, but far from the end of the world to have to push back what has become a routine operation.
Second, cruise ships don't go and do whatever they want in port. The port and US Coast Guard approves departures. More importantly, ships have the harbor pilot onboard to navigate the port area until a ship gets out to the open ocean.
Cruise ship isn't to "blame". It's the port and coast guard who didn't direct the ship properly and/or time the departure properly.

i did the escape room in 2020 just before covid with 12 , found everyone has to work together .. breakoff  to solve and then combine everything . also  help if someone is struggling ... we did it and thought it was worth it 

I love seeing my previous ship in New York!

So...I know some of you will laugh at me for this after proclaiming up and down that (already coming from too much cold weather) I have no desire to sail Alaska. However, I will be the first to admit that I can be wrong (sometimes lol), and it might be in our 2023 summer plans.
I totally blame two things for this recent turn of events, one being our recent trip through the Rockies (turns out Hubby really likes mountains/waterfalls/creeks), and the recent pics and stories posted by @Cruising With JT, and @l9dance. And looking back through old @twangster blogs, I can admit that I see things in a different light now. I still don't feel a burning desire, but a cruise to Alaska is a decent compromise for Hubby and I. He gets his outdoor piece, and I get my cruise.  Also, we would have our two teenage girls with us on this one.
Here are my preliminary questions for the group, I am sure I will have more as time goes on.
1. Sail from Seattle or Vancouver? Flights are not a factor. I can fly from DTW or Toronto. Non issue. I am assuming the world will be in a better place by 2023 and border closures are a distant memory. We more or less want to know which embarkation port gives us better itineraries. (Edit: thinking of mainly RT itineraries this time around)
2. Getting a balcony is an obvious yes for us, but side balcony or aft?
And yes, before anyone points it out, I am fully aware there may not be a CK available! lol

My Odyssey sailing was also changed to western caribbean.  I have to say, I love this itinerary a lot more than Nassau, Falmouth and Labadee.

I just wanted to make a quick post regarding comments/messages. As a Royal Caribbean crew member, I have strict rules to follow when it comes to social media. There are certain things I can and cannot talk about. This is why I don't respond to 95% of my comments, just in case I say something I'm not supposed to. I could potentially jeopardise my employment with the company by slipping up.   I hope this makes sense. Please know that I read all of your comments and messages. Thank you for continuing to support me, and engaging with my content.

I am happy to announce that I will be joining the brand new Odyssey Of The Seas this week.
 
I look forward for the opportunity to go back to work, and once again help create vacation memories for Royal Caribbean passengers (you guys)!

I was thinking about last year on new years day when we drove from ontario canada to st petersburg florida to stay at the inlaws , so that on sunday we could drive to miami and board OASIS for our cruise ...   loved everything , enjoyed doing the escape room and launching the rocket , why take the elevator go down the Abyss .    heres hoping  that we can do this again soon

My wife and her friends enjoy listening to them on the Anthem too (September 2019). Went to the Music Hall almost every night.

My Indy cruise was this time last year so it keeps popping up in my FB...
