  1. For me it would just mean drinking less and perhaps even during to think about other vacations, it's not just drink prices but excursions have gone way up too.
  2. First cruise in a while coming up where I won't be buying the deluxe package, no way can I justify the cost. Given the cost price is so low I struggle to see the economics but clearly people must be buying it, unless they are now actively trying to discourage package uptake?
  3. I think it also has something to do with the cabin you were in originally. If by upgrading you they can then sell that cabin to someone else for more money then overall it might work out higher than a single bid?
  4. I also believe they may factor in how much you paid originally into your bidding range, not sure on that though.
  5. Ah congratulations on your upgrade! We still haven't been told so it may well be that price wins. I wasn't able to bid any higher than £170pp (£340 total). I still don't have any email, just says pending and can't be edited. So tense!
  6. I had done the max bid (£160pp) for my reservation, though I noticed this had changed to £170. You?
  7. Any chance you are on Odyssey 7 May? Our JS bid for this cruise is showing the exact same (pending but not modifiable). Other offers are expired. Seems quite a few people found out they were successful on Monday so not sure what this means for my bid!
  8. Sorry I'm from the UK where our travel insurance is often directly linked to government travel advice. So if the foreign office here advises you not to go somewhere and you then choose to do so, the travel insurance will not cover you whilst there if something goes wrong and you incur additional expense. So I wasn't talking about cancelling. More if you have to pay for extra flights/accommodation were the itinerary to change or medical expenses.
  9. Official advice: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/before-you-go/travelers-with-special-considerations/cruise-ship-passengers.html?fbclid=IwAR23mRlu4-382HLuSM8i0KWQBSaZ4heDniggmxR3kBR6e2EgWiKr6B0EseM If the US government are advising citizens not to travel would that invalidate travel insurance?
  10. I'm not sure if it is overblown really? I appreciate the need not to cause undue panic and maintain perspective, but taking the Diamond Princess as the only cruise related example... Would you board a ship where there's a chance 7 fellow passengers (even if they are old or ill) may die and 700+ will come down with a heavy cold/fever. This isn't your usual noro or flu, there is no natural immunity out there as with most viruses. Hence why the WHO etc are taking it seriously.
