  1. I've needed two adapters in the last two years. The one I bought from walmart was a like a 4 in 1 cube that had US, Europe, and all of the other adapters in it that packed together in a travel cube. The one I ordered from amazon was less expensive, but only came with the europe adapater. Hope this helps
  2. On our last cruise, we could not leave or board the ship without our passports when we docked in the Bahamas...with the travel restrictions in place right now I wouldn't be surprised if they tightened up on those requirements
  3. I'm in the Easley area and yes the county is on a delay! Makes me miss cruising a little more...
  4. My first cruise was on Navigator for 3 nights to the Bahamas a while back. I think that an Amped ship of this size offering 3-4 nights is a great business model, because guests get their feet wet and if they really enjoy it, they'll book again with RC. I like to view 3-4 nights on these mid-sized RC ships as sampler cruises for first timers- nice, updated ship, good port at CocoCay, and not too big that you miss out on too much. RC was very smart to plan it this way, since I was a newbie on NAV and then booked another two cruises for the following year! ?
  5. I book anywhere between a year and a half to a year out, basically as early as possible (if there is a sale going on). As for flights, I'm very fortunate that most of the ports are within driving distance for me, but the one time I flew to Miami I booked my flight I believe four or five months out, just to give us some extra time to plan everything out.
  6. @WAAAYTOOO I have never been on a cruise where RC has cancelled a stop- what happens during these cruises? Is any portion refunded? I have a stop in CM upcoming....very curious
  7. I wasn't even aware that they weren't selling them anymore since I don't book excursions for cococay. But, from a business standpoint it makes sense. As @WAAAYTOOO said, it must have been difficult to manage half-day pass holders and full- day passholders
  8. Definitely tell your TA it's your honeymoon. I'm going on my honeymoon on Harmony Dec 13th with the Western Itinerary, and to be perfectly honest we only booked one or two nights of specialty dining. The main dining room has great service and food, and it's included so we plan on eating there most of the time like we have previously.
  9. Customer service issues are why I ALWAYS book online or with my TA. Much better customer service and I can play around with the options on my own. I'm a visual person, so I like to see what the website can offer me before calling for details. Definitely use a TA! Cruise Planner is extremely important when purchasing the add-ons, I usually use this before I call because some of the customer service reps are very busy and feel pressured to get done as fast as possible so they can take another call.
  10. Oasis and CocoCay! Wait until the fall to do the Canada/New England cruise- much better views and colors, not to mention autumn activities. Adventure is a good size for first time cruisers, but Oasis is practically a beast compared to it. There's a lot more do on Oasis Class ships on cruising days as well. But, because you're a first time cruiser, this ultimately depends on you and what your family is looking for. Traveling with kids/teens I'd say Oasis is better, but if it's just you and your SO either would be comfortable. Pros/Cons Oasis Class: Pros- larger, more to do, tropical cruises are always a blast (cococay is great for relaxing), more options for food/activities/pools Cons- Larger ship=more people at destinations, can sometimes get noisy. Because of it's size it can be harder to navigate and more time consuming to go from one area of the ship to other Pros/Cons for Voyager Class: Pros- Can get to smaller ports because of size, easier to Navigate since everything is closer together, a less crowded cruise=less people at destinations. Cons- some people don't like the smaller/older ships (I think AoS is a great size though), not as much to do on cruising days and less options for food (specialty, not MTD)
  11. If I remember correctly, they made some sort of announcement and started to clear out the park. Half day passes are still treated as half day even if they sell out. I went with the rest of the crowd leaving so I wasn't inside long enough for one of the lifeguards to usher us out. But I think it was a decent amount of time without kids- we had done everything we wanted, including all of the water slides, at the 2.5 hour mark, so I still felt like I got my money's worth.
  12. I have had plenty of vacations in the Caribbean- now I'm ready to revisit other areas. Many of my friends recommend the Alaskan cruise, but the foliage cruise is more in our budget for the time being. Are the Alaskan cruises worth the money? What shore excursions are available for each? Interested in a less relaxing vacation and looking for a little more adventure
  13. The half day pass I purchased on my last cruise had 4 hour blocks for each group. If I remember correctly, the morning half was from 8:30-12:30 and the afternoon from 12:30-4:30, the the ship leaving at 5. But I could be wrong, this was almost a year ago and I can't remember exactly. I know that I went in at 12:45 for my half day
  14. I bought a half day pass to the waterpark when I went but will not be doing that again- don't get me wrong it's cute, but for the rest of the day we relaxed at the swim up bar in Oasis Lagoon and then lounged in the chairs, which was quieter and had more adults than the waterpark (obviously). The shore excursions are nice there, but it's the best port of call i've been to that is perfect for doing absolutely nothing all day. It was so nice just to lay on the beach with a frozen drink in my hand or relax in the water. My upcoming cruise is May has two stops, one in coco cay and the other in labadee. We have not purchased any shore excursions for this entire cruise, nor do we plan to. We were on the beach at coco cay until we burnt and have no regrets!!!!!!!!!
  15. This is where we parked when we went on Navigator last May. It was well worth the cost. Our friend recently got off of a cruise in Miami and he decided to park elsewhere: his car was broken into the first night after they sailed away-... park at the Terminal.!!!
  16. I'm the same way. I have one cruise in May and another in December, and I am so absolutely antsy for my one in May. I want to book another for the summer because I love it so much and I just can't wait 7 months for my next. To pass the time I do look at other cruises (usually with a margarita in my hand and the Beach Boys playing in the background ?)
  17. I am obviously very partial to RCI, but here's why: RCI's ships greatly vary in size, so you can experience more intimate cruises but also the larger ships (Oasis class) that are basically floating resorts. A little something for everyone. RCI has a ton of activities on board during the cruising days, like the pool with the screen that the others have mentioned above Their staterooms (the amped ones) are very nice and are cheaper for those who reach a certain level with the loyalty program Nightlife on the larger ships is awesome! The food is great for what you pay I have never cruised with RCI and felt unsafe or that something wasn't very clean. Cleanliness is very important to me and I felt that everything was pretty spotless and sanitary, even the restrooms in the main areas.
  18. Two in an interior for sure. I think interior rooms are underrated and that they can offer a lot that people don't think about. I usually book an interior room (sometimes with a window to the Royal Promenade or other area) because of one word: NAPS. I always take a short nap or rest after we board the ship but before dinner, depending on what time we got back to our room. Interior rooms are mostly quiet and because there is no window it's very dark when all of the lights are off, and if you're like me, you need absolute darkness to sleep. Not to mention, interior rooms are less expensive than balcony's or suites, so I'm not only saving money but I'm getting some great sleep. Disclaimer: I've only ever cruised with my spouse, so if you're traveling with multiple people, book a larger stateroom. I'm just weird and like total darkness when a sleep, but I will say that the balcony rooms are nice
  19. http://www.royalcaribbeanincentives.com/content/uploads/2019-2020-Fleet-Guide-1.pdf This link will take you to the Royal Caribbean Fleet Guide for 2019-2020 (usually updated every March). This will give you a list of all ships in RCI's fleet and which ones are amped or schedule to be amped. Hope this helps! Safe cruising
  20. I brought two Coke Zeroes and two bottles of wine on my last cruise, but Matt is right you can bring 10!
  21. The only time I did not tip was because, honestly, I completely forgot. But, don't feel bad- tipping was a choice I made but not everyone does. Many people do not even tip because they prepay gratuities. $50-$100 total is extremely generous, but $50-$100 PER NIGHT reaches into outlandish territory (I'm not even sure if crew members could accept a tip this large, so I have a hard time believing that this person was being truthful)
  22. Wait, that's mine too! I just saw your post on another thread. I have $61 instead of $19.... but I didn't book during the WOW sale, I actually booked back in December with a different promo. Interesting...
  23. Do you mind me asking what sailing this is? My 5 night to Labadee is much more expensive.
  24. I agree with @Neesa. My sister in law lives in Orlando and traffic is the number one reason we can't see her if we're down there for cruising. Definitely would not make that drive, and with the expenses of gas and a rental, it may be more worthwhile to meet them in the middle or they come to you if they wish. Safe cruising!
