  1. Check in the app when you board and there will be additional times. I signed up for a slot at 1pm on boarding day and it wasn't very busy.
  2. Good info, thanks for posting. This forum is a great way to learn and also to stay caught up and exchange opinions. Welcome!
  3. You will get instructions on board. Typically, all BTB cruisers will meet in a lounge. You will be escorted off the ship, check in for the new cruise, and then be escorted back onto the ship. It's a quick process.
  4. You can always give feedback to the shore excursion team. These tours are booked through a 3rd party but it is always helpful to give the feedback.
  5. According to this article, they do A Day Ashore in Sitka - Visit Sitka
  6. Officially you are 18 and she is 17 - they go by age at sailing. They will follow those ages where it comes up. The nightclubs do not check every person on entry, but it is possible it may be questioned by security. If you act mature, my guess is that she would be allowed to stay.
  7. Use your set sail pass or just tell them your room number.
  8. My first reaction was that Royal should have offered more. Having now seen the reason for the cancellation of the canal crossing, I realize that there was not an option for Royal to keep the cruise itinerary as it was. I can't really expect more from Royal since it was not really their choice.
  9. And you can still get a drink in Galveston right after boarding, there are just some limits on the choices.
  10. I don't see anyone mocking you. It was a legitimate question. I think you see what the response would be on the ship. The problem is that you can't silence them and only use them in appropriate areas. I have a teenager and we use a Wi-Fi based texting app and purchase the internet package.
  11. No, but you should be able to find some places with free Wi-Fi in the ports.
  12. Yes, There are several choices listed on the site with prices. Rony will quote you for everything and you pay the driver - he makes the arrangements. If you are just looking for something inexpensive near the snorkeling, I would choose Bananarama. They have a place to change, and you will get beach chairs. It is a short walk to the beach snorkeling. If you just want to snorkel, the driver can probably get you to the beach without chairs, etc for nothing extra.
  13. You do not need a Birth Certificate if you have a Passport.
  14. I went to the same ports as you this year on Ovation. It may be helpful for you to read the live blog I wrote here.
  15. Zip lines are always a good choice in Roatan. I also enjoy the snorkeling off the beach at West Bay beach. On our last trip we did waverunners. There are some really good seafood places in Roatan also. we usually do ziplining in the morning, followed by lunch and beach/snorkeling. My wife likes the sloths, so we always have to stop in at one of the sloth places. We avoid all of the tourist trap places like the chocolate factory and rum distillery.
  16. I use Rony's Tours. You can join a group tour or for a small amount more, do a private tour. If you price it out, the private tour is basically $90 - $120 plus the cost of whatever you want to do - a small price to have someone who knows the island with you all day. The other advantage is that they are flexible and can make adjustments based on time and other factors. #2 Rony’s Private (Free Style)Tour, OPTIONAL BEACH/ATTRACTIONS / ACTIVITIES -ADD-ONS -West Bay Beach by Land or Sea Weather Permit, (Free Boat Ride). - Roatan Tours, Cruiseship Activities, Excursions, Zipline Canopy Tours with Ronys Independent Tours, Roatan (ronystours.com)
  17. One of the biggest changes in the past 20 years is how much more casual the dress is. 20 years ago, you would have seen a significant percentage of Men wearing tuxedos, now I would doubt you will see more than a few, if any. People still dress up, but it's much more optional, and you will see some in shorts, jeans, etc, even on "formal" night.
  18. I just got the same email. Disappointing. It doesn't really make sense to fly to Panama to do a Southern Caribbean itinerary given the airfare. I was really looking forward to going through the canal.
  19. We ate in CK every night. I requested to have the same waiter and table every night so that they were able to get to know us and our preferences.
  20. I wouldn't expect to be able to substitute with something not on the menu.
  21. The best advice is to put in a bid that you are comfortable with. If you would gladly pay the price knowing you would win, then bid that amount. I wouldn't get to wrapped up in it. With ships selling out and sailing full, the chances of winning are really slim.
  22. As stated above, there are a few nice perks for being Gold but you are correct in that the real perks come at Diamond. The free drinks and use of the Diamond Lounge are the perks I value the most. I also don't think there is enough of a difference in perks as you progress to Platinum, Emerald, etc on the way to Diamond. Keep cruising and you will find yourself at Diamond before you know it.
