  1. I have never sailed on Mariner, but I’m sure it’s very similar to other ships in that class. I like the GS. Plenty of room and all of the suites perks. I actually prefer the GS without the TV half-wall. They have a sense of greater space. Nice, big bathroom. No bidet though ?? Re: embarkation lunch, unless you have the UDP there is no complimentary specialty lunch (or dinner, for that matter). There is a suites’ breakfast (probably in Chops) which is really nice. Internet is not complementary on that class. There is a suites’ lounge with happy hour drinks. It will not have drinks all day like the SL on Oasis class. Your gold card will get you into the SL during the day and there will be a specialty coffee machine in there unless it is removed due to hygiene concerns....which seems highly likely to me. I’m sure that will make the Concierges very happy. The coffee Machine is the bane of their existences. They are always needing “attention”.
  2. Huh ?? That completely sucks ! I guess the lesson here is....finalize the deal on the SPOT if it’s a good one. I’m so disappointing for you.
  3. I would be very cautious of any kind of gift certificate. They have many restrictions and are difficult to use.
  4. I've lived in Asia but never sailed in Asia. I will definitely be giving it a try some day.
  5. I think the answer to this question is....no, JS are not eligible for service in the SL....but I think it is not uncommon for servers to get the drinks for their dining customers anyway. If you tried to go over and sit in the SL and drink all night, you could possibly have a problem, but getting a drink with dinner I don't think is that big a deal.
  6. If your Nov casino comp cruise gets cancelled, you can call Club Royale and see if they will allow you to move it. We had an August comp cruise cancelled, and we were able to move it to Feb 21. They totally price protected it...just like a L&S but not a year in advance...just 6 months in advance. I was very surprised and happy that they let us move it. They weren’t doing that for previous casino comps lost due to the cruise suspensions. Hopefully they will continue to allow suspended casino comps to be moved. PS....I hope you don’t have to find out. We have 2 casino comps in Nov, too. ??
  7. I love those pumpkin seed rolls, too !
  8. Then yes...you will be eligible to go into the Diamond (Golden) lounge. Congratulations !!
  9. If you are talking about being Gold level with Crown & Anchor, then no....that C&A level will not get you into any of the lounges. ....but being in a GS will. I have never sailed on any of the Asian ships (of which Quantum is one), but I think the "golden" room that you are seeing on the deck plans is probably the Diamond Lounge on all of the other ships. That lounge will not be available to you if you are not at least Diamond C&A level....but you WILL be able to visit the Concierge Lounge on Deck 12. I am not overly fond of the location of the Concierge/Suites Lounge on the Q class ships but I will say that there is a beautiful view from that lounge. Of course, you will be able to eat in the Coastal Kitchen for breakfast, lunch and dinner, if you so choose. The balcony on the GS is nice but a bit narrow. It will be awesome for looking at the Alaska views.
  10. I love the location. I think you will be very happy being close to the elevators. To be completely honest, I was very disappointed in the Quantum class Grand Suite. We had one in Feb on Anthem right before they shut down cruises. Most of the GS on other classes are very spacious. The Quantum class GS has a wall that separates the living room and the bedroom and it causes the room to be extremely small, IMO. I found it to be about the same size as a JS on the O class ships. Consequently, I will not book that room again. The good news is, you will be Sky class so you will enjoy all of the Suite perks.
  11. Sure. You can take drinks out of the SL. Waaay back in the bad ol', good ol' days they would restrict you, but not these days.
  12. Me neither ! I really don't know the answer.
  13. I wonder if that's true for Dulles. Somehow, I don't think so. No way am I going all the way over there just to be turned away.
  14. I think this is where the demarcation is made for those who "would never pay for a suite b/c I only sleep and shower there" and those who love the suite b/c they WANT to be able to enjoy their room. I love deck 17. It is so convenient and quiet and exclusive (sorry if this word offends some. Not my intention). I also enjoy being midships and being closer to the "action". It all comes down to what you enjoy and what you want to do. We eat, sleep, gamble, go to a few shows and hang out in our room. We do NOT go to the pool, lounge around in the sun, play trivia, play putt-putt, use Adventure Ocean, go on the flowrider or water slides or hang out at the bar (much...). we're kinda boring. ...but we love our suites. We spend a lot of time in there. We like having parties there, if the occasion presents itself.
  15. So happy that you had a good experience. As for feedback, you might get lucky ! I just booked 2 casino comp cruises directly with Royal a couple of days ago, and I received a feedback request today. So maybe Royal will send you one as well. Hope so. Good employees need to be commended...especially right now !
  16. Honestly, with things are consistently inconsistent as they usually are with Royal, I would call them directly to make this reservation. I am sure that you can book 2 cabanas, I just don't know for sure that you can do it in the Cruise Planner. The issue of OBC is also going to be a bit complicated (I think) so if it were me, I would have my TA handle this or call Royal directly. Cruise planner and cabana reservations have become a bit complicated and your situation is even more complicated.
  17. THanks, @Mathias. I must have gotten 2 stories confused. So glad it all worked out for you.
  18. Great news !! Were you able to get the refunds made directly to you for the members of your family who do not intend to cruise again ?
  19. How you proceed will depend upon what you want to do. If you want to Lift & Shift your cruise forward to the same time, next year, you can get your Travel Agent or Royal Caribbean to help you with determining your options for that. This option price protects your cruise and extends it 1 year into the future (+ or - 4 weeks on either side of the original sail date). Royal is being very accommodating with this option, giving you plenty of options for changing ships but keeping your current price. It has proven to be very popular for people who can wait a year to sail. If you want to book another cruise, but not have it price protected through L&S, you can either get a Future Cruise Credit (125% of the cruise fare value) or get a 100% cash refund, which would go back to your original form of payment. If money is a concern for you, then you would need to wait until you either get the FCC or get your money back to book the replacement cruise. While it has been taking VERY long to get your money refunded, recently the process time has improved. If it were me, and I knew which replacement cruise I wanted to book, I would go ahead and book it now and apply the FCC or refund later. With this latest round of cancellations, there will be a rush to rebook and perhaps price increases as a result. I would want to get in there ahead of the rush...but that's just me. Whatever you decide to do, you must either notify your Travel Agent or Royal and let them know what you want to do. Good luck !!
  20. I can certainly understand this. I originally got GE b/c I was flying internationally so often. It makes getting back into the US a LOT easier. But now that I'm retired I don't expect I will be traveling internationally that much. I will keep it for 1 more 5-year span and if I don't use it much I will probably just to Pre-Check the next time. Frankly, I think Clear will turn out to be a much better investment that GE with all of the COVID mess (once we start flying again). Clear has definitely saved me more time and frustration than GE ever did.
  21. Deck 17 is the suites' deck. Anyone can get up there but sometimes they have the doors to the suites themselves locked. Most of the time they don't though. Of course, there are suites on other decks besides 17 but that's where the big suite are plus the suites lounge and the Coastal Kitchen.
