  1. latest update...seems like if anything its getting worse and headed in the direction of the ABC islands for now...
  2. Best I have seen is 20% off...although some ppl have been lucky enough to catch it at 30% off for the drink package. Best deal I have seen is $169 plus taxes for a 4 cay cruise, which I booked!.....I booked a 5 day cruise for approx. $289 plus taxes....both of these were inside rooms.
  3. This one is forecasted to be a big and strong one..looks like its heading right for the area you are sailing. Of course anything can happen by then..but based on projections I would be prepared to have some of your ports changed or delayed etc depending on the path as it gets closer.
  4. I am talking about the cruise itself....but I would be happy with savings on anything! My cruise for April 22 had the drink package on sale..but I didn't book it that far out..they don't need a year of holding my money....that's insane.
  5. that's great that you saved...very few do. I have had my trip booked now for since January.,......I have seen about 10 "sales" so far...all of which cost more than what I paid by not booking directly with Royal!
  6. its not a sale if its the same price as before though is it?.......lol
  7. I don't remember any good sales recently.....as has been stated here many times...it ends up being the same price at the end of the day..they just market and make it sound new/exciting and really ends to up to be a lot of nothing. their marketing department could save a lot of money by stopping all these "sales promos"...as they aren't sales at all if we are being honest with each other. Only time I have seen a deal in the past few years with Royal is by NOT booking directly with them.
  8. Agreed..thats why put in brackets what I did... Which would also make me think that the demand is going to be down even more than normal is they have a great percentage of passengers that drive and live in state... that being said..they are still selling the Sept 3rd cruise for not a deal imho so I guess they are sticking to their guns about no last MIN discounts....
  9. While no one knows for sure yet..I have to agree. I cant see them getting everything back to "normal" in time for a cruise this Sunday.....but give it another week and it will prob be back on track. But with another 2-3 days of heavy rains and the storm picking up strength again...it could get even worse yet.
  10. I cant see keeping guests on the ship for another week...be cheaper to fly them home probably.....(for those that don't live/didn't drive to the port). But I can see some delays coming for cruises out of Texas and also a reduced demand for cruising while they try to clean up and get back to some sense of normalcy!
  11. I cant see it taking that long. While I think there is lots of long term damage and repairs to be done all over Texas, I don't think Galveston took the worst of it. And its pretty amazing how quickly things can get up and running....already the oil refineries are starting back in some areas. That being said, I could see the demand for cruising being down considerably in the Texas area for the next few mths for sure...but then again, most people cruising this fall on Liberty have already booked her and made plans...as well all know Royal doesn't discount or give deals for last min and most of her ships sail pretty full without having to give a deal.
  12. Yup...something is off here.....would be rare to be changing it by one day like that...as it would throw off 2 cruises by doing so.
  13. I am not sure about that..... I know my only experience of being on a cruise ship and then docking in a US port for a day (key west) is that we had to clear "customs" before getting off the ship...took awhile and the lines were long... it was defn NOT the same as getting off at any other port...I would think the same would be true in PC.... but perhaps someone who has done it recently can confirm exactly. '
  14. Been following this since Friday....feel sorry for the people in Texas and for ppl who are cruising and were supposed to cruise. Only thing that surprises me is the fact that somehow they seemed to think they would be back in port Sunday....I think it was clear as of Friday this was a major event hitting the area and while no one knows for sure or can predict how bad it will be or exactly how it will affect an area.....this one seemed like it was going to pack a big punch. I wouldn't mind be stuck on the cruise ship for a few extra days though to be honest as long as its safe....
  15. I would never fly in the day of....during summer or winter. Its just too risky....weather, mechanical, technical issues can arise at anytime. Air travel is what it is. In the winter, I like to fly in 2 days before to be safe whenever possible. I have never booked Choice Air as it is always way more expensive and I could just fly in the extra day and spend it in the hotel for the price difference. Besides, I enjoy the day or two pre-cruise vacation in Orlando or Miami etc.......
  16. Well with those bingo cards you could win a cruise or some cash/obc (based on the bingo I have played on Royal) but I am guessing booking onboard will be way down. I didn't find it that convenient the hours and it usually booked up fairly quickly. I liked though the chance to talk to someone and chat and could chose when you wanted to use the OBC so it was a win win.....imho
  17. it's great...did it on the Navigator...had booked a guar int room and got upgraded to a VB.....it was pretty cool....felt like the room was a little bigger....I didn't notice any noise above the normal noise of the ship and with an interior room being so dark, we didn't mind the extra bit of light it gave us. Was cool in the morning in the ports to be able to watch what was going on.....and taking pictures of what was going on outside of the "window" actually turned out surprisingly well! Would I pay a bunch more for this room? Probably not for the amount of time I ever spend in the room, but its defn a neat concept and works well for what it is intended.
  18. Its not the same I know.... I was mainly referring to some of the comments about how younger people don't smoke now and people want to live longer and the unhealthy side of it. Plus, there is about 90% of the ship smoke free to its not hard to avoid it. And yes, if they want to have a bubble blowing section of the ship sure....I will just avoid it....pretty simple. Again, like I have stated before..I don't know how people ever lived before...now everyone wants to live in their own bubble when it comes to so much. If its that big a deal for you when you travel, then don't travel or pick a different type of vacation. Noone is forcing you to take a cruise. And yes, your overeating at the buffet does affect me and my health care system and access.....so there is an indirect affect..just like smoking.
  19. Ships should close down the buffets and limit the food they serve you based on some of the arguments about smoking on here. Or maybe tax the buffet or charge high rates for anything over your daily 2000 calorie intake. Obesity is just as bad or worse than smoking on your body and the effect on our health care system. So really, lets stop being so PC and compromise and get along.. It doesn't HAVE to be one way or no way......people used to be able to co exist......nowdays not so much. As for young people not smoking as much?!....not my observations when I travel both in Canada and the US and the Caribbean.
  20. They do..but they charge the corking fee again for each bottle..or they don't anymore? Seems like they have gone back and forth on that...
  21. I enjoyed my once cruise on Majesty..even though smaller/older, it was a great ship and I had no complaints! I get that you like Enchantment better as that has been my fav with Royal so far and been on her many times. That being said..I would be glad to have ANY ship I could just drive to and get on for a weekend!
  22. Oh yeah...we had a blast at the nightclub on Indy....and we were between then ages of 35-45.....lots to do and see....and there was a line up to get in on a cpl of the nights...On Navigator I found that because there really wasn't ONE place to go, that every place was pretty quiet, dead and lacking any kind of fun to be honest.
  23. Its what they did on Navigator I believe.....and I was disappointed as the nightclub/life on Indy was way more active than Navigator....seems like they have pretty much phased out the nightclubs on Royal ships compared to other cruise lines such as Carnival and NCL...
  24. I can actually see a deal on the Ultimate dining package...60%off....only $210 for the cruise which I think is a great deal(about $159 USD)! I don't see one for the drink package..if that one was 60% off I would be ALL over it...lol
