It’s hard to articulate how much I love cruising. I take it personal when people who don’t know diss it.

The question is will it make subsequent icon class ships or is this a one an done?

The worst thing to ever happen to this World was the creation of the original iPhone. Its creation as the first true “smart phone” allowed for the proliferation of social media which then became miniaturized in the form of apps and the rest is pathetic history. It produced a lost generation who has no social skills because they grew up and live in their phones.

So I’m assuming crowds everywhere including gumming all the food places ,bars etc ? I wonder if that ships crowd dispersement design is poor compared to quantum class which is of similar size or certainly oasis class. I know people who have been on Mardi Gras and they didn’t comment on it being overly crowded. This really is just an intellectual exercise as I doubt I’d ever sail carnival anyway.

Please elaborate further on your Mardi Gras experience, I’m curious what you encountered.

Agreed. The suite lounge on jewel was unbelievably good. We didn’t get the drink package that cruise and it wasn’t even close to an issue with that lounge happy hour.

Bionic bar is useless. Rising tide I find to be cool and trellis is my favorite bar on any ship.

Good point , at present we are diamond and on schedule to cross D+ after spring break 2025 cruise. I understand tier matching with celebrity but I just want to get to D+ before spending money elsewhere

Well I can tell you without equivocation, Royal is making a ton of money off me and my pursuit of diamond plus. Once we hit it , we’ll check out celebrity.

Odyssey is a good ship, the Izumi is wonky and the English pub is a bit small compared to oasis class but the music hall and playmakers are best in fleet.

Embarkation after we dropped bags off to stewards (which there was a line ) was easy. Full disclosure we went thru suite lines which were quick. I wasn’t sure If id like a “small” ship like jewel but my wife and I are very happy. Shoot we did a sub 1 hour MDR dinner last night. Service everywhere has been excellent. Windjammer has never been super busy. No issues getting seats. Suite lounge has been like an episode of cheers. Same 8-10 people everynight and when you walk in you get greeted like “norm” from cheers. It’s been unbelievable. Would absolutely sail radiance class again. I’ll let you know about disembarkation when we do it

I’ll do a de facto live blog on this thread, this cruise and this ship so far has been outstanding. Suite lounge is the quietest I've have ever seen. 9 total pins aboard. So not a lot of extra bodies in lounge Service is tip top . zero complaints.

So on jewel , first time on radiance class , used to quantum or bigger , wasn’t sure what to expect , usually do ultimate dining , did MDR tonight. Have been overwhelmed with the service in all venues. So far it’s been excellent. also we are getting 97mps WiFi speeds in our cabin. WiFi elsewhere on ship has been excellent.
