  1. My daughter and I loved Allure, I would book her again just for Mama Mia. I also loved the views without the big purple slide. Enjoying following along, loving the pictures as well. Are there a lot of kiddos like on @Ampurp85 sailing? Thanks again for sharing...great cabin for sure. Are you going to the MDR as well? Just wondering about your thoughts on the new menu.
  2. DCL to Royal convert here... 10+ DCL and I was done, I tried Royal and have not looked back. Royal product & value for money excels in my humble opinion. The crew are the stars, they really want you to have a great sailing. They seem to be more invested then the Mouse Crew at all levels. Along with the above suggestions I would suggest purchasing before the sailing the combination internet and refreshment package, this way waters/soda's/mocktails are covered similar to the mouse. The internet is a plus here, but you don't have to purchase it. Then if we wanted adult beverage we just paid a la carte, we aren't big in that area. Cruise Planner is your friend, watch for the sales they allow price adjustments. They do provide some things lemonade, ice tea, ships water, coffee & some other flavor waters if you don't wish the soda's etc. Please bring toiletries, here you will miss DCL.( but not a big deal that's for sure) The combination shampoo/ conditioner/body wash....no! For the experience & value of Royal I believe it will give you pause to return to the rodent, lol! Enjoy, and welcome to the Royal family
  3. He has a team of people who do in fact respond on his behalf. Sorry this happened to you, may I ask what ship? I'm truly curious, we had no hot water for days on the Serenade, a great many of us on deck 7. Maintenance responded numerous times before it was sorted. We were treated to dinner at a specialty restaurant. It was a very nice gesture, but the hot water was priceless.
  4. It's a huge promotion that seems to be working by luring families over to Royal from the likes of DCL. The promotion really catches ones attention. Like @Xaastated with the cabin & 3 little kiddos covered by the promotion go ahead and see the difference with a DCL for example, the value for money is there for sure. That promotion does not work for our family because my kiddo is over 12, so we actually have experienced that booking under this promotion affords us to pay a higher price, it seems the adults are charged more monies to make up for the KSF. No worries though, if I see a cabin I must have I book it & then @Sharla will price adjust for me at the lower better rate when the sale is over, like all other money savings promotions in every part of life, they are designed to separate you from your money providing their family friendly product in a way that makes you feel "good" about the monies we are paying for the experience. Book that great room, have an amazing family vacation. *I wish they afforded a vintages sale free, buy Mr. Cabash/Vintage Magnet a ticket & I sail free, yes! I would be down for that promotion
  5. Oh no well that explains a lot. I hope it gets better for you. I know for us when we sailed DCL when kiddo was younger, we opted for the longer sailings as it seemed the "behavior" was off on the shorty ones big time. Our last few sailings on Royal I noted an uptick in parenting styles of all different types. (Doing my best to be nice) While it of course wasn't everyone for sure, the ones that were fool hardy were the most noticeable, things that made me go wowza! This is why for my cruising monies in the future I'm doing the older ships, longer itineraries and staying far far away from the Icon. Just seeing the Icon reveal day one had me knowing it would not be relaxing for me, I guess my way of cruising is the way of yesteryear. I hope you find joy in your vacation despite the atmosphere.
  6. Why so many kiddos? I know we had off Monday to celebrate MLK day so essentially a 3 day weekend here in Florida. Are others off from school this entire week? If I'm not mistaken kids sail free didn't apply to this sailing but I could be wrong. I've said before Royal is going hard to lure sailing families from DCL, kids sale free promotion is at every turn it seems. I've sailed both company's and I can tell you Royal is making a huge impact, DCL concierge is bending a bit leaning in my opinion to the Royal way, especially for Suites. Royal is hands down the better value for money for families. I digress.... I hope for you some enjoyable times ahead, minus misbehaved humans (young and old)
  7. Oh my word, and this ladies and gentlemen is why I always follow along with @Ampurp85. I look forward to every notification, you are making my day! Standing by for more, can.not.wait!!!! I'm having so much fun, my sailings always pale in comparison. I need to sail with you!
  8. When we won the Royal Up ability to pay a little more for a nice upgrade game 48 hours out my tags did not update right away. I sent a message to Royal on their Twitter messaging and requested new luggage tags & the girl responded with I just did this for you, give it a few minutes. I had the new luggage tags in my account probably an hour later. Have a great sailing!
  9. For my Adventure sailing there are also two additional choices. For a fee, it looks like Chops is taking reservations and the app reflects Johnny Rockets is also open. But again, these two are extra $$. We are probably going for Chops when our cruise planner opens. It's away from the noise and crowds and we love starting our sailing this way. It's also less expensive then dinner with nice choices.
  10. The photos are stunning, just beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing them!
  11. Right? My conundrum as well. When we sailed with @bellemiche they had one and I believe it was great except for internet connections. I even hovered over pulling the trigger on the sky one bedroom but Cabash/Vintage Magnet would not be happy. He is #deck17 and when we are on any other class he misses deck 17 and I hear about it.....daily. Maybe a shorty sailing, my previous RUBs for these were always super pricey, one day! I am enjoying this blog, I love the pics. I'm not feeling so sad missing sailing her this season. I'll wait until she comes back down here. Ugh, but then there's the college commitment I made
  12. Yay! Another @Ampurp85adventure, following along and looking forward to it! Thanks for taking us along.
  13. We carry on as well. Sometimes the suite lounge has yet to open. We head straight to a previously chosen destination for out of the way people watching, last sailing it was Vortex night club. One of us (usually me) stays with the luggage while the others explore. It's not long before the SL or our embarkation lunch venue is open. We usually stay there until the cabins open. Drop our bags and muster first thing.
  14. This is our 2 bedroom on deck 8 I believe one deck below the Junior Suite. The obstruction didn't bother us at all. I believe she is a Voyager class ship. Adventure of the seas
  15. It's a fantastic ship, you will have a great time. I sent you a PM. I promise you will not want to get off after 5 days
  16. My sailing is June 7, 2024 and there is nothing, just a blank cruise planner. Just way to soon in my estimation.
  17. @Lovetocruise2002 I just saw the IG pictures with the music, it brought tears of joy to my eyes. Thanks so much for sharing this new adventure. Since I met you guys it makes your Symphony sailing even more special. I felt I was missing sailing on her but through you I feel as if I am experiencing her as well. I appreciate you taking us on this journey. May God bless you and keep you, Happy 2023!
  18. I often wonder why guest services is packed on boarding day. Maybe people placing cash on Sea pass cards? Getting extra keys? Asking for possible upgrades (newbie guests) Removing gratuity? Inquiring minds want to know! Lol! Just beautiful, it's raining here. Have a fantastic journey. Symphony always escapes me....maybe one day!
  19. My cruise emergency kit! It's a money saver and if I have it I probably won't need it. Bandaid and wound treatment, Benadryl,Vicks, Neosporin, pain relief such as Advil, ginger gummies and sea sick patches. Night & Dayquill just for good measure. The electrical outlet converter plug an all in one hub from European to US including USB charging. Disinfectant wipes (my whole life I did this) to do a cursory cabin wipe, someone was just in here so a quick cabin wipe is routine. ( I do this in hotels as well) A good attitude, something may not be as I imagined, pack patience for days.....I want to enjoy every single second of my sailing. I've learned early on knowing how to pivot my attitude is priceless and a must have for any vacation.
  20. First, no way boring! Love the pics. We stayed at this property 2 X because it's convenient and we love the self parking. We did the main building and believe me the rooms are light and bright, same decor as yours but even on the very top facing the port so I can stare at the ships, it feels cramped and old. No sound proofing at all and the rooms were very narrow, way smaller then the one on your pic! We will not stay again either as the hype, location and property do not reflect the price. It's a wasteful stay in our opinion. We bring a cooler with Publix subs and some snacks and eat on the balcony to save money as well as not taking chances that something we ingest us "off" ruining day one of our sailing. Embarkation today! Have a great adventure and Happy New Year! Can't wait to follow along with you as well!
  21. Okay so happy for you, can't wait to follow along. Have the best time! I still am feeling positive about your Star Royal Up win the ability to pay a little more for a great upgrade chances. Staying positively positive over here. Enjoy your family, enjoy your sailing. Cheers to you! Wish we were there! Happy & healthy New Year
  22. In my PERFECT Royal World I would love it (I know it would be a logistics nightmare) if we could know ahead of time what tribute bands would be performing. I am confident in saying I would book a sailing just to experience the Journey tribute band DSB I believe & the Zepplin one as well. I personally would pass on Bon Jovi but we went to high school with him back in the day when we lived in NJ & hearing that music so much I don't really enjoy it anymore. Sayreville NJ High School Baby!! (Same with Bruce, I know, I know but it was on every radio channel, every minute of every day. )
  23. Just received mine, it's incorrect by 7 days. My Serenade was last minute though, total should be 41. I really wish it was more, lol!
