  1. No sir, this has been held up in federal court; your employer is completely within their rights to mandate this or any other vaccine they seem fit. The hospital I am on staff has a laundry list of vaccines that the staff must adhere to.
  2. Symptomatic Covid in a vaccinated individual would be (in most instances) very mild, not requiring hospitalization, but just rest and fluids at home, and a speedy recovery. This is the purpose of a vaccine. No vaccines completely prevent disease.
  3. Yes, it works the same in Canada as everywhere else, being vaccinated prevents severe disease, hospitalization, intubation, and death as @SpeedNoodlesstated.
  4. And @twangster is saying “as this initial class of vaccine recipients gets further out from their shots, the data will change and the 3 month window will turn into 6,9.12.......months” If I may so bold as to speak for @twangster
  5. I don’t think this is realistic. They don’t have the money to try and “re invent the wheel” right now. It would be prohibitively expensive to just “try” a couple ships embarking in the Caribbean and the revenues would not offset the expense.
  6. For one thing Bridgetown has been an embarkation point for many years. The infrastructure has been built up over a decade or more.
  7. No, not for the cruise ships that sail there regularly and comply. Royal does not have a ship that complies with the ship to shore power requirements while docked in California waters.
  8. The next issue you run into is getting past the CARB regulations for cruise ships in CA.
  9. The test required to fly back into the country must be a lab run test, with lab report. I doubt the ships testing abilities will be able to satisfy this requirement. This brings to mind another question, does the island of Cozumel have the ability to process thousands of tests on debarkation day? Regarding supplies, Royal rarely (if ever) takes on any stores in a port of call. I have not been on every pier in Cozumel, but have experienced quite a few. I can’t recall any that were built In such a way that stocking a ship would be feasible. I agree with everything you are saying about the passport, but that doesn’t change the fact that MANY refuse to make the investment. just my 2 cents
  10. Without thinking too hard, here are a couple obstacles I think would pose a problem. The new CDC requirement for a negative Covid test prior to returning by air to the USA-how many will be willing to deal with finding a test in Cozumel and waiting for it before you fly home? A large percentage of cruisers to not hold a passport-this fact excludes a fair number of potential customers. Since Cozumel must bring nearly 100% of their own supplies from mainland Mexico, would it be economically feasible, or even possible, to handle the sheer volume of materials needed to stock even a midsize ship?
  11. Without the US government making major changes to both visa requirements and PVSA, the cruise lines would still need a foreign port to stop in; I am struggling to think of a non Canadian stop that would be sensible and possible.
  12. Excellent point, this is 100 million fully vaccinated individuals. Another positive to remember is there is no special handling requirements for this vaccine, so hopefully this will begin the flow to the Walgreen and CVS locations as well as the smaller non franchised pharmacies.
  13. 100 million doses ready to ship 1 billion pledged by end of 2021; they have converted a couple pharm manufacture facilities from other product lines to pump out vaccine
  14. My guess would be that Royal would disallow the mingle mask due to the fact that it had the same shortcomings as the disallowed items you quoted above from the website. Interesting information, thanks for sharing.
  15. This "mask" would not be permitted to be worn in my hospital; it really does not appear to do any of the things that are important for a mask to do.
  16. I witnessed a very rowdy exchange between a traveler and TSA at DFW airport last week. Traveler felt a face shield alone was sufficient (no mask), they were escorted to the exit door, and not allowed back into the terminal. I assume a flight was missed.
  17. This is a big turn around from their previous orders, and is very concerning. At home testing, with no verifiable chain of custody, is considered unacceptable in the American medical community. Should be interesting
  18. The CDC requirement is ONLY for international FLIGHTS at this time, NOT for cruisers returning to the USA from an international destination.
  19. If you are flying out of Newark, the CDC testing requirement does not apply to you, as this would not be an international flight.
