  1. Unfortunately discretion doesn't lend itself to this situation. The staff needs to be able to identify the vaccinated individuals easily and without undue interruption of normal activities. I am not a big fan of anything on my wrists (no watch or bracelets) but I guess it is a small price to pay for the time being.
  2. The false positivity rate on rapid antigen testing in the asymptomatic population has a know high false positivity rate. The developer of the tests have stated this and notes that the test was NEVER intended to be used as a diagnostic tool.
  3. Just a follow up, as the Florida "vaccine law" is now official and enforceable. We are seeing many reports that Freedom of the Seas is asking for vaccine proof in exchange for a less restricted on board experience.
  4. You are viewing it correctly. Just look at Celebrity, their process is solely based on this “voluntarily providing proof to eliminate restrictions” concept
  5. I always use WiFi calling on the ship with VOOM, and buy 1 month of the international plan (maybe $10) for use in ports.
  6. On a closed loop cruise the 6 month rule does not apply
  7. You will be fine with 4 months validity.
  8. However, IF Edge is able to pull off the 95% threshold, the CDC published protocol allows for no masks for everyone. Correct, or am I mistaken?
  9. To reply to the original question. I am not sure it is safe to assume that there will be a need to distinguish between vaccinated and unvaccinated; the protocols on the early sailings out of Florida could be masks for all, effectively treating everyone as unvaccinated.
  10. Yes, I have never had any problems in 20 years. I have been told, as long as there isn't a foil cutter, then you are OK
  11. I just stop by any bar on my way back to the room and ask for a few clean wine glasses. I have a corkscrew that NEVER leaves my travel toiletry kit
  12. I don't believe Canada has any influence at all on the Alaskan season this year. With the passage of the ATRA, Canada has been removed completely from the equation.
  13. Am I misinterpreting his commentary that the unvaccinated would be financial responsible for the additional testing they would require on board? Is this a nudge to promote vaccines?
  14. My hospital did not mandate vaccines when we started getting them in December. We have, however, been served notice recently that there will be a 100% vaccine requirement by January 1, 2022. Those not vaccinated will no longer have a job, or admission privileges (as the case may be) The mask mandate in healthcare facilities (at least in TX) is controlled by the Texas Medical Board. I no longer have to require masks to be worn in my office, however the hospital is a 100% mask zone, and will be until at least mid year 2022.
  15. Unfortunately, the way the CSO is worded, at this time your scenario is impossible. RCL does not have the option to offer this. As far as the CDC is concerned either the ship is 100% vaccinated or 100% unvaccinated.
  16. Not on a 100% vaccinated ship they won’t, at least not to an extent that matters. Basic concepts of virology, immunology, and statistics bear this out
  17. The problem I have is the way this is going, we will all be treated as unvaccinated. The measures that go along with that label are more than I will tolerate given the amount of money invested. I took full refund now for my July 24 Symphony cancellation, and unfortunately will not be booking another Royal cruise until this is sorted out.
  18. Your understanding is spot on, and I agree, there should be more flexibility in the issuance of FCC than there is. I went around and around with them on a VERY similar situation as yours and repeatedly hit a brick wall Rather than issue me a FCC for the entire cabin amount in my name, they lost ALL the money because I took the refund. Their loss
  19. Mediation has failed, cruising public thrust back into the unknown.
