  1. Every credit card i have ever dealt with is this same way, credits / refunds DO NOT count towards you minimum payment due, unless it pays off the complete balance. Agree, the main benefit from this type of card, is the sign-up bonus. Occasionally there are some other interesting benefits, an example is Carnival's branded card give you 10% off all shore excursions purchased with the card and a 6 months interest free on payments of a Carnival cruise.
  2. glad to be following and finding how things are going
  3. Agree, but even creating my post made me go do more research on what is going on in PR and now I am thinking more positive. This is what I found currently. Under an Executive Order announced May 24, the local curfew was lifted and the new COVID-19 protocols went into effect on May 25. Puerto Rico will eliminate negative COVID-19 PCR test requirements for fully vaccinated travelers arriving on domestic flights Among other revised guidelines announced, Puerto Rico will also increase capacity for businesses from 30 to 50 percent, remove mask requirements for fully vaccinated individuals in parks and beaches and restore permission to publicly consume alcoholic beverages in pools and at beaches.
  4. Having passenger vaccinated reduces risk for the cruise line. Having "Restrictions" in place for un-vaccinated acts as an incentive for them to be vaccinated. Much like masks were never to protect myself as much as it was to protect others
  5. anyone have any information or even thoughts?
  6. But why would Royal reduce capacity if there was no CDC requirement to, that just does not make good business sense. Like you say Matt we will have to wait and see. May be that cruise hesitance other than from the hard core fan will on its own reduce capacity.
  7. That is why they had mask riots and threats on the governors life in the great state of Michigan? guess we just have to disagree on this point. I will say though "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Voltaire (1694-1778) French writer and historian. have a pleasant rest of your evening and good health to you
  8. and not get deathly sick. just thinking that is the main point here
  9. Then those people should choose not to go on a cruise, where o where has personal responsibility gone?? Sorry but you can't climb Mount Everest in a wheel chair, and we can not accommodate you.
  10. Nope will not happen the reason is why the CDC has a requirement for a port / local health agreement. There will be no more ships quarantined at sea. "The cruise ship operator has a written agreement (or a multi-port agreement) with all U.S. port and local health authorities where the cruise ship intends to dock or make port during a simulated voyage. The written agreement must specifically include the name of the cruise ship that will be conducting the simulation and meet the standards of the CSO and CDC’s technical instructions for Phase 2A of CDC’s CSO. The written agreement must include a: port component (including a vaccination component) between the cruise ship operator and port authority to determine the number of cruise ships operating out of any single port in order to not overburden the public health response resources of any single jurisdiction in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak; medical care component between the cruise ship operator and health care entities, addressing evacuation and medical transport to onshore hospitals for passengers and crew in need of medical care, in accordance with CDC technical instructions and orders; and housing component between the cruise ship operator and one or more shoreside facilities for isolation and quarantine of passengers or crew members with COVID-19 and close contacts, identified from the day of embarkation through disembarkation for each voyage."
  11. I can see the voluntarily show proof of vaccination or come be tested daily and Oh btw un-vacinated have to eat in this dining room at this time, no other option. you can only attend this show where masks will be required. There will be a special bar where the computer know you can get a drink that also requires masks, al other bars you are locked out of. By Royals own admission based on those surveys i have filled out a couple of times now, 80% percent of their customer want vaccinated cruises and even more 90% say they are already vaccinated. When will our country QUIT trying to make itself accomidate the minority and proceed with what the majority want.
  12. I would not. For those that say the fully vaccinated can still catch it, I will point to the MLB Yankees with 9 breakthrough cases of Covid in vaccinated players witch was only detected because they are constantly testing. "Seven of the infected members are asymptomatic and two have mild symptoms." So if not tested specifically for Covid no one would have even known they had it, which is why we get Vacinated
  13. Yes I would, Will be, being fully vaccinated the CDC says i no longer have to wear a mask indoors or outdoors. Just because a few selfish individual don't want to get vaccinated and think they will feel like 3rd class citizens, because they are restricted from certain areas of the ship every one else should suffer.
  14. I think the OP was trying to figure out how to do the reservation ahead of time through the cruise planner. The most likely answer to that is they can't, and @AshleyDillo is correct make the reservation as soon as you board
  15. Based on all the approvals for test cruises (Simulated Voyages) I think anyone with fear that the are going to have to vaccinate their children to cruise have misplaced concerns. Personally I would rather see it go that way, as then we an definitely drop the mask indoors mandate, but it sure looks like it is heading in the other direction. I'm also OK with that as being vaccinated my risk is so small that I consider it negligible. With the Port Agreements required by the CDC in place even if there is some outbreak in others on the ship, there is a plan to disembark all passenger and the it will just be a matter of testing me and I can go on my way.
  16. with the approval of dozens of ships for test sailing, the case for Florida to overturn the CSO gets weaker every day. The CDC can now say they have a plan and this plan is working, they are well on their way to getting the cruise industry up and running in a safe an effective manner. The abundance of the approvals for test sailings also makes it much harder on any effort to overturn or change the Florida law banning vaccine passports for cruise ships and with the threat of Texas following suit, that will push the industry to the new norm of putting ships back in service via test cruises. What I am waiting to see is how fast CDC turns around the approval to sail after these first few test cruises and what if any old standards they intend to modify or eliminate (ie masks required indoors).
  17. I agree, we have always, well once we learned, chosen both a table for 2 and my time for 2 reasons. One it has always started 15 minutes before early traditional and 2nd we dislike the long drawn out production of a 1-1/2-2 hour dinner. We order our full meal as soon as the waiter shows up, skip desert on all but one night and clear the table for future use in 45 minutes to an hour. Its what works for us
  18. looks like Royal plan is to do test cruises and except for Alaska cruises this season will go the test cruise approval route. Already approve for test cruises are Freedom, Allure, Symphony and now I hear Independence. I find it hard to believe that Florida will prevail in their lawsuit against the CDC, but who knows. Matters not to me as I am vaccinated and see no risk either way for myself.
  19. Agree with the travel agent advice, I use @michelle from MEI. I will tell you I booked a family Xmas cruise vacation, 3 cabins 7 people, a while back myself but on board and each cabin had its own Booking Number.
  20. I will give a shout out to MEI and know that you will be happy, they seem to have a good reputation. Without mentioning my particular agent since you already have one, I will say I am more than please with her and the service she provides. I used to book myself regularly, but now I use her for all my cruises. I will sometimes see a cruise and a cabin, I like and since some disappear pretty fast because I can be particular, Ii will book on line and then when the invoice comes I will send it to her to do the transfer, this just works for me. Special shout out to MEI for sponsoring this blog, as it allows me to mention my agent, who I am ecstatic with in posts, unlike other forums.
  21. Good advice, but so many refuse to follow it.
  22. I will feel normal again as soon as I step on a Royal Caribbean ship.
  23. That should be in BOLD large text
  24. there is a nice free pool area (Oasis Lagoon) in the center of the island, if you prefer that to beach areas. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/perfect-day-cococay-map
