Was on Mariner this past weekend.  While in Nassau there was no line for the slides at all and the Flowrider was never more then 3-4 people waiting.  We had a great time on the sports deck!

Yes the pools are open as well as the water slides and flow riders, if they are on your ship. Some restaurants will be open as well as the bars. The shops and casino are closed.

Port days are a great time to experience the ship when its less crowded.
Pools will certainly be opened along with the pool bars (weather permitting of course), other bars will be open as well but there may be a couple that will open later in the day.
With regards to activities I'd recommend having a look at a old Cruise Compass for a similar sailing, take a look at one for a port day and you'll be able to see what sort of activities they'll have on over these days for you.
Also as a side note, you might get lucky a score a bit of discount for the Spa or a Restaurant, the crew will sometime wander round offering a bit of discount if you come that day/night

We could carry our own bags, but it would be much more pleasant if we didn't have too (especially if there are stairs to navigate)!  I'm afraid we'll have several bags for a 7 night cruise involving a 21 year old daughter.  :-)
    Thanks for the suggestions, though!

You may be able to check with guest services to see if they can help you get a lower luggage tag # and get the earlier disembarkation time.  But, you may want to do that during your cruise and NOT on the last day ?  you could be in for a little wait as there may be a lot of folks in line on the last day wrapping up lose ends.

General rule is if it generates heat, it's not allowed except for hair products or there would be mutiny!

I don't suppose you can take hand held clothing steamers now?  Had one confiscated on my first cruise 5 years ago. I was lost without it. When I went to claim it on our final day, someone was actually picking up their confiscated TOASTER!  Our group had some big laughs over that one! ?

Out of general courtesy, let your table mates know that you will not be there, they then know to tell the head waiter not to wait and to proceed with dinner.
This has happened to us in the past and it was nice to tell the head waiter to go ahead, that we knew or table mates were not showing up.

Shouldn't be a problem, if you don't show up. Your table mates will just have more room and it doesn't really make a difference with the waitstaff.
